Lisa’s holding out on us guys!! I’m still no closer to working out who Rebecca’s ‘Master’ actually is than when I first read If I Were You. I know the clues must be there – we know that he is someone that she sees in her normal every day life as he expresses a desire to only be called Master when they are in private. I guess, in the fullness of time, when we know his identity, we’ll be able to look back with the benefit of hindsight and see the clues plain as day but, right now, I’m still clueless.

During this little episode, Rebecca is considering the contract that her Master has offered her. She’s not an experienced submissive and is a little overwhelmed by his dominance but she craves the safety and security that only he seems able to give her.

He, on the other hand, is determined to have Rebecca as his sub and is really not prepared to take no for an answer and uses his considerable sexual prowess to reduce Rebecca to a submissive puddle to get her to the point where she craves the safety of his dominance and is beginning to develop the trust this relationship requires.

There’s still a long way to go and I think we have more questions still than we have answers. Rebecca’s nightmares are not yet explained, of course we still don’t know who her Master is and we have no idea what actually happened to her. I did notice that the last novella is going to be released AFTER the second novel so I suspect that there’ll be some big revelations in Being Me.

ABOUT IF I WERE YOU
How It All Started…

One day I was a high school teacher on summer break, leading a relatively uneventful but happy life. Or so I told myself. Later, I’d question that, as I would question pretty much everything I knew about me, my relationships, and my desires. It all began when my neighbor thrust a key to a storage unit at me. She’d bought it to make extra money after watching some storage auction show. Now she was on her way to the airport to elope with a man she barely knew, and she needed me to clear out the unit before the lease expired.

Soon, I was standing inside a small room that held the intimate details of another woman’s life, feeling uncomfortable, as if I was invading her privacy. Why had she let these items so neatly packed, possessions that she clearly cared about deeply, be lost at an auction? Driven to find out by some unnamed force, I began to dig, to discover this woman’s life, and yes, read her journals—dark, erotic journals that I had no business reading. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. I read on obsessively, living out fantasies through her words that I’d never dare experience on my own, compelled by the three men in her life, none of whom had names. I read onward until the last terrifying dark entry left me certain that something had happened to this woman. I had to find her and be sure she was okay.

Before long, I was taking her job for the summer at the art gallery, living her life, and she was nowhere to be found. I was becoming someone I didn’t know. I was becoming her.

The dark, passion it becomes…

Now, I am working at a prestigious gallery, where I have always dreamed of being, and I’ve been delivered to the doorstep of several men, all of which I envision as one I’ve read about in the journal. But there is one man that will call to me, that will awaken me in ways I never believed possible. That man is the ruggedly sexy artist, Chris Merit, who wants to paint me. He is rich and famous, and dark in ways I shouldn’t find intriguing, but I do. I so do. I don’t understand why his dark side appeals to me, but the attraction between us is rich with velvety promises of satisfaction. Chris is dark, and so are his desires, but I cannot turn away. He is damaged beneath his confident good looks and need for control, and in some way, I feel he needs me. I need him.

All I know for certain is that he knows me like I don’t even know me, and he says I know him. Still, I keep asking myself — do I know him? Did he know her, the journal writer, and where is she? And why doesn’t it seem to matter anymore? There is just him and me, and the burn for more.

Rebecca's journals continued..... Very short nouvella including the ensuing relationship of her with her new "Master." She's never done anything like this. The contract has a lot of things she is unsure about. Can she sign it and give up control to this man? He makes her do and fantasize about doing things she's never done before. But what's up with her nightmares? Why are they coming back with a vengeance? Moving on for answers.......

From the journal entries in the first novel "If I Were You" I thought Rebecca was this confident, sexual adventurous woman. Sure she'd been internally conflicted with the submissive/ dominant relationship hinted at. . .but she is exactly like the heroine from If I Were You. Even their mothers both recently died.

It's the author's choice obviously and the lost journals are still entertaining enough for me to finish them all, but I just wish. . .Rebecca was less conflicted and angsty. I get it though. This is all a new experience, but I'm not really intrigued with Rebecca anymore.

And the story of who the master is and what's going on. . .it's being dangled from a long stick that seems nowhere close to being in my grasp.

First, start off by reading my review of Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 1: The Seduction. You can find it here.

Ok, now that we've got that cleared up, let's move on...

Volume 2 picks up pretty much where we left off in Volume 1. Rebecca has met Mark and they've gotten to KNOW each other (wink, wink). But now, Mark wants Rebecca to be his submissive and to be his exclusively. But what does that mean? And what does that entail? Can Rebecca be submissive to anyone, really? She's had to take care of herself for a good portion of her life. Can she give control to someone else? Does she even want to??

We really get a sense of Rebecca's unease and confusion here. This would be a great read for someone who is new to BDSM romance/erotica. Rebecca is asking herself a lot of questions that I think most people would ask when confronted with a BDSM or Dom/sub relationship: Why would you want this? Does this make me weird? How far does this go?

Rebecca has a lot of questions and she really doesn't get a lot of answers. At least, not the ones she wants or was expecting.

This is a very interesting premise because we're only seeing bit and pieces of Rebecca's life and we're only seeing them from her point of view AND only after the fact. So its all very one sided. I found that I had a hard time liking Mark at all and I'm still really not trusting him at all. But Rebecca is fully into him and wonders if she could be falling in love with him and I'm not feeling that for him at all. Maybe this is how the author wants us to feel?

I can tell you one thing though... I'm going to stop writing this review and go pick up If I Were You right where I left off. I have GOT to find out what the heck is happening!!! LOL!

The contract: will she or won't she? That's the question left to us at the end of the last installment. And by the end of this one, we get our answer...

But the journey to get to Rebecca's answer is not so easy. Because the contract has some rules and stipulations that Rebecca isn't sure she can handle. So her Master decides to break her in a little bit. Give Rebecca a taste of what she can expect with him. And, oh, it is tasty!

While Rebecca and her Master are figuring each other out and getting their kink on, we get to see glimpses of Mark and Chris. Some strange behavior from Rebecca's co-worker Mary. We're shown a side of Ricco that he seems to only have around Rebecca...

And I still have not one darn solid clue as to who her Master is! Not one. I'm completely wishy-washy. One minute I'm sure it's Chris (which would break my heart). Then the next I've got my eye on Mark (which would be pretty hot and sexy... if Rebecca is still alive and/or her Master is not the one responsible for her disappearance). And, of course, in the back of my head I'm convinced it's Ricco (he's the wild card for me, since he's the character we still know the least about).

I just don't know! And that kills me! *shakes fist!* I want answers. I need answers! Where are the answers?!

Once again, Miss Fabulous Lisa Renee Jones has masterfully strung us along with another engaging and cryptic installment. She tortures me with these journals... but I like it. Frustration aside, I do enjoy the long tease. Keep it coming!

I am so enraptured by this series. I love these journals. It feels as if I am living through what Rebecca is living.

With The Contract you start to see where she gives away a part of herself to the master but it is also a place where you get to know the master as well. You start to see parts of both of them. Key word is part and I have not a rat's ass clue who the master is. Lisa Renee Jones is a genius when it comes to making me wonder. Every time I read anything from this series with every character I am like "Is it him?" I am slowly starting to make myself go crazy with all the possibilities. LOL

"You will call me 'Master' when we're alone," he instructed next (Still no kiss.) "In public, we remain as we are. What we are beyond that is between us." loc 300

The contract is only a small piece of what is between Rebecca and her Master. It is a formality yet so much more.

I love this novella and can't wait for more.

These novellas are way too short in my opinion…it’s like being starving but only being fed breadcrumbs. I swallow each word unable to put it down and in no time at all I hit the end and I feel as if I have learnt nothing but a few scraps of information about Rebecca and who her Master is.

Though in this one I think there were two clues that may have given his possible identity away….but I am not sure. Maybe I am wiling it to be so or I am reading something into what was written, hmm that sounds like a contradiction in terms.

As the title suggests this novella is about the contract given to Rebecca by her potential Master. Whether she chooses that path or not is up to her.

“Master. Submission. A contract that says he owns me for his personal pleasure.”

Rebecca is in two minds. There are a few things she is not sure she could do or want to be part of, but most of all she doesn’t want to loose who she is and her place in the art world. However, will the force by which she is drawn to this mystery Master prove so strong she foregoes her worries?

Rebecca dreams of betrayal, of torturous snapshots of memories; of loss of control. What is her place? Where does she belong? She thinks she is on the correct path; she is in control, when HE puts a new one in her way that could possible make her change course.

“You will call me ‘Master’ when we’re alone…..In public, we remain as we are. What we are beyond that is between us” – ?

In this short novella that is only 40 pages long, we find that Rebecca is presented with a contract from the "Master". She is having a hard time dealing with what is in the contract and becoming submissive. She'll have to give over control to the person who wants her. She also is concerned that there may be other sub-missives that the Master has as well. She does not know if she wants to share him with others. So many questions go through her head, she's having difficulty accepting what the "Master" wants from her.
We get subtle hints on who could be the Master in this novella, but of course, Lisa Renee Jones still leaves us on the edge of our seat.
We will not be able to find out who he is until "Being Me".
If you have read "If I Were You", you definitely need to read these novellas of Rebecca's Lost Journals. You'll find hints for what is happening in "If I Were You" and what is up next in "Being Me".

This short novella definitely has you asking even more questions and wanting more answers to the Inside Out Trilogy.
I look forward to the next Lost Journals of Rebecca's. =)
Lisa Renee Jones does an amazing job of keeping us guessing until the next release comes out.

WHAT HAPPENED TO REBECCA?

I know its odd to give 5 stars to what is essentially a novella, but this to me is an essential part of the Inside Out series, of which If I Were You is one of our all-time favorite books! This is the second installment of entries from Rebecca’s lost journals. Rebecca is presented with with a contract to be a submissive that she doesn’t want to sign. There are subtle hints as to who the would-be Master might be.

This is a very short but very, very satisfying read. Can't wait for the next installment of Rebecca's lost journals.

Rebecca's debate with herself over whether to sign the contract or not... Well let's just say we are no where closer to discovering who Master is, yet we get a few clues. It seems that Rebecca draws every man to her and with all of these men having a connection, I can't help but feel that somehow she has become a pawn in a much bigger game.

I know I should just skip and go to book 2, hoping for answers but I can't seem to stop reading these journal entries. It makes me wonder what I would do I happen across Rebecca's inner most thoughts and had the opportunity to discover her fate.

I was surprised when Rebecca realised that she might not have been her master's only sub, I don't think he gave her the impression that they were exclusive, but I guess after the sex they were having, it wasn't too much to expect that. It wasn't like he was going to take no for an answer. This was too short really.

For anyone that has read If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones this series of Lost Journals are for you. If I Were You is the first book in a erotic romantic suspense trilogy. The Inside Out trilogy begins with the heroine, Sara, gaining possession of Rebecca’s journal. This journal was discovered by a friend who won Rebecca’s unpaid storage locker. The journal is filled with some very disturbing, yet erotic pages and it prompts Sara to find Rebecca and return to her the items of her storage unit, journal and to make sure she is okay.

The journal is an integral part of the trilogy and leaves the reader wanting to know more about Rebecca and what she wrote. Finally, we are getting what we’ve craved. Ms. Jones has released 5 volumes of Rebecca’s Journals. Supposedly, these 5 volumes Sara didn’t even get to see. I will review each volume individually even though they are only about 40 pages each.

Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 2: The Contract is the beginning of what is to become Mark and Rebecca’s arrangement/relationship. Rebecca begins this volume with the Master/Submissive contract in hand. This volume is about her learning what it will mean to her life if she signs the contract. As she waffles back and forth as to whether or not she should sign it we get her thoughts and feelings about this, as well as her take on the lessons that Mark begins to teach her. We also get to see Rebecca wade through her new employment and trying to balance that with her personal life.

Where volume 1 was mild, volume 2 is heavy on the BDSM and heat. Mark’s “lessons” can be intense and leave you exhausted. This journal really shows Rebecca’s emotional issues, as far as I’m concerned. Mark states he chooses Rebecca because of her always being in control, but I disagree. Being privy to Rebecca’s thoughts I feel that she has no grasp on her life at all. She is still plagued by the issues that came out when her mother died, she is constantly waffling back and forth where Mark is concerned and she seems to have a hard time even having a meaningful conversation with anyone at all, pointing out that she is a private person. Maybe Mark doesn’t get this since he can’t read her thoughts like we can, but I feel like starting these kinds of games with Rebecca can lead to nowhere short of disaster.

Thank you to Simon and Schuster publishing for the loan of this book in exchange for my honest review.

“Overall, this novella is a quick and sexy read but will it leave you breathless for more.” ~Under the Covers

The Contract is the Second part to Rebecca’s Journals of the Inside Out Novellas. In this installment, you see Rebecca continue her journey to becoming a Submissive. In this diary format, she jots down her feelings as she explores the contract that was offered to her. But it’s still a mystery of who her “master” is. There are a few clues that make you think who it is but I’m not quite sure it’s someone we’ve met but possibly someone in If I Were you. I know one thing; I
would hate it if her master is Chris Merit.

You also get a glimpse of Rebecca move up in her new career at the gallery. She also talks about her nightmare that really intrigues me. I think there’s just more to these dreams than meets the eye. There are three journals left to this series and I can’t wait to get more clues to Rebecca’s life.

Overall, this novella is a quick and sexy read but will leave you breathless for more. I do recommend reading If I Were You (Inside Out Trilogy, #1) and Rebecca’s Lost Journals, Volume 1: The Seduction. It will just give you a better understanding Rebecca. Just remember, every time one of these novellas comes out, we’re closer to the release of Being Me (Inside Out Trilogy #2).

I read this series ALL out of order and actually started with Rebecca's Lost Journals and THIS made me go back and read the Inside Out series books 1-3. Reviews to come at www.bookcrack.com. I really enjoyed the suspense of this series and am late to the party on this one, which many bloggers have recommended.

Because this is somewhat of a romantic suspense series with a touch of BDSM it does have some frustration in that you don't get definitive answers, but with book 4 coming in August and the additional Master Undone novellas coming out now if you can commit to the series I think you would enjoy it! ** SPOILER ALERT*** in my ARC Master Undone was included and THAT should DEFINITELY be saved for LAST in the series!

The Contract is another novella to go with If I Were You and follows the novella, The Seduction. Now that we know how Rebecca is seduced, we learn all about the contract between her and her mysterious master. With each page turned, the question continues, WHO IS HER MASTER?? The more journals I read, the more connected I feel to Rebecca and I can see why Sara was so worried about her. Rebecca puts everything in her journals, her fears, anxieties, dreams and nightmares as well as her hopes and we are privy to these thoughts firsthand.

Another intriguing look into the world of Rebecca and all the players (minus Sara) from If I Were You. I liked the first one, but I loved this one. For such a short book, it had such substance and really moved the story along in a big way.
The oh-so-hot chemistry added to the subtle intricacy in which Ms. Jones weaves in little clues to the mysteries of the Inside Out Trilogy makes this a wonderfully significant piece to the series. Fans of the series have to read this book!!

I'm still lost. Why would she sign the contract if she still had so many doubts?

Why are the women in this series so freaking dumb???

I wish Rebecca had a friend to confide in and seek advice from. Then again she probably wouldn't turn to them because she (like Sara) believe they know everything and think they can handle anything. Maybe she wouldn't have appreciated a friend in this instance.

THE SECOND JOURNAL

Ok so she has decided she will sign the contract, even with her uneasiness and questions. Can't she tell her dream is a warning? Can't she see the feeling of doom for what it is? She isn't anything like Sara except in naivety and where Sara wanted/needed a commitment, Rebecca starts out believing she doesn't. Regardless of the BDSM games, they both want love.

Liked this one much better. The mystery is the best part! Who is he? Also, the sex scenes are left up to the imagination. ;) :) That's also a plus.

What bugs me are the nightmares. What is wrong with Rebecca? Seriously, girl has issues. I hope to learn more....

Overall, great short story.
