"Jack the Ripper must have been a vampire.

What a great first line. I was hooked.

This book is a quick and fabulous read about her studly Warriors of Poseidon. Here we have Christophe, our bad boy warrior, who while trying to retrieve an aquamarine that belongs in Poseidon's trident, meets the Scarlet Ninja. The Scarlet Ninja is a modern-day Robin Hood figure who robs from the rich and gives to the poor of London. But why is the Scarlet Ninja needed at all?

All of her Warriors of Poseidon books are great, but this one took the vampire's places in human governments to a new level.

How often do we read about vampires who believe humans to be nothing more than just sheep? Quite a bit, IMHO. But Alyssa Day takes us farther, and distinguishes her series from others. In this series, we've seen the vampires not only "come out of the coffin" (to borrow a line from Sookie Stackhouse), but they are in human governments and have "rights" now.

In Atlantis Betrayed, we see that the job rates are at an all-time low, and that vampires in London have basically turned back time-they behave as wealthy nobles while all the humans are starving and out of work. Time to pick up the pitchforks and torches, my fellow villagers!

When Christophe meets up with the Scarlet Ninja, he learns one of two things. 1-The Scarlet Ninja is a girl! and 2-she wants the same thing he does-The Siren (the aquamarine).

So what to do, what to do..hmm..how bout follow her home and sleep with her? Yep! That's just what happens...and wow is it hot!

Alyssa Day got naughty with this book.

With Christophe being a bad boy, it only makes sense for him to be really bad...he he...At one point, Lady Fiona (the Scarlet Ninja is a children's book author! and Scottish nobilty), is all hot and bothered from her interactions with Christophe, so she does what any woman would do...She imagines him touching her as she pleasures herself. But soon her fingers are joined by another's-Christophe had heard Fiona sigh his name.

"He reached out, cupping her breasts in his big hands, and her nipples visibly tightened and hardened further. He smiled and looked up at her. "They want me to suck on them, don't they?"
She shivered, staring at the deep, glowing pools of his eyes.
"Tell me," he coaxed, "Say the words."
"I can't---I don't---" she stumbled, flustered, "Ladies don't talk dirty."
He laughed, and the rich sound of it sent a wave of heat through her. "Ah, but warriors do, my beautiful ninja. So let me tell you that I'm going to lick and suck and bite those ripe berries until you cry out for me to do the same to your hot, wet cunt. Then I'm going to tease and torture you until you come in my mouth, and finally, finally my ninja, I'm going to plunge my cock in you so hard and so far that you come, screaming, over and over."

Now I'm not one for the "c" word, but that was hot! Alyssa Day cracked me up, because a couple sentences down, she used the word "bum." The "c" word and "bum" in the same sex scene! Depending on whose point of view the scene was from, depended on which words were used. Christophe thought the "c" word once more and those were the only 2 times I saw it used. Fiona also insisted he use a condom-not often seen in pnr...even though Christophe said he couldn't carry diseases or knock her up, bravo Fiona for making him wrap it up anyway!

They partnered up to retrieve the gem, BUT a monkey wrench was thrown into their plans when someone else took the gem from and the Scarlet Ninja got blamed for that and the deaths of 3 Shifters. A bit of background on the gem-it can enthrall Shifters, masses of them. So the vamps want to enthrall Shifters and rule the world. But the fae want it too. So now we have to not only get the gem, but find out who took it? Fae? Vampires? Shifters?

The fae being thrown in here made for some tricky plot devices, and a quick spoiler:

****SPOILER AHEAD*****

One of the warriors leaves with a Fae princess to Summerland for 3 fae years, and uh oh... what will happen?

***END SPOILER***

I love how Alyssa Day had Christophe save Fiona from the bad guys (not spoiling this one--*the Highland Hussy zips her lips*) And the ending was great. Alyssa Day has such a similar sense of humor to mine, that all the jokes and sarcastic comments were spot on.

A definite recommend on both the book and series-which other than just being different from other pnr series because it has Atlantean Warriors in it, has a whole new plot direction from any I've read before.
Go forth and read, you'll love this one!

Fantasticly Hot Story! Each book Alyssa Day does gets better and better as she gets closer to ending this series.

I loved christophe the Posiedon Warrior and his sexy as hell charm. Of course his mate Lady Fiona the Scarlet Ninja was the perfect woman for him. The chemistry between them was so hot. Actually throughout the whole book it had the best Erotica scenes that I couldn't help but get excited myself. I loved the humor they shared and the Happy Ever After ending was great and had me smiling real big in the end.

I loved the other characters as well. The butler Hopkins, Maeve the Unceily Court Fae princess, Fiona's brother Declan, her friend Sean, along with all the other Warriors of Posiedon were absolutely wonderful.

Now they have the gem stone "Siren" - a magical stone that can entrance the shapeshifters. All they need is 3 more stones left to rise Atlantis. I look forward to the next books to see how they retrieve these stones and how the other warriors find their mates.

This installment in the Warriors of Poseidon series left something lacking. Christophe & Fiona's relationship was just a little too smooth. There was absolutely no pursuit. Christophe & Hopkin’s banter was awesome. The action was not nearly as exciting as the previous books. There was a ton of conflict build up then it just kind of fizzled away. I also was severely disappointed as to where Denal went with this book. I guess this is going to be the way he matures & becomes a wounded warrior for his mate to heal????

Atlantian warrior Christophe, up for a challenge to relieve the boredom of killing vamps, plans on milking his assignment to retrieve The Siren, another of the gems needed before Atlantis can rise. On a scouting expedition in preparation for stealing the jewel from the Tower of London, Christophe crosses paths and wits and is bested by the notorious Scarlet Ninja - aka Fiona Campbell - who also has plans to acquire the treasure. But when someone else accomplishes the theft ahead of them, the pair must team up to recover the stone before its powers are used to start a war. And while they are at it, Christophe's lovely new partner may be just the one to end Christophe's boredom once and for all.

I really enjoyed the snarky not-a-team-player Christophe, and the chemistry between him and his future mate Fiona is very good. Even better, Fiona was great combination of gentile lady and smart kick butt thief. She was a good match to Christophe and more than able to hold her own against the pushy Atlantian and other supernaturals as well - I especially loved the way Fiona was able to take a no-win confrontation with the shape shifter alphas and rewrite the rules to gain a more acceptable outcome.

I also liked the addition of unseelie Fae as both friend to Fiona and foe to just about everyone to the story. And I thought that Christophe's fellow warrior Denal's new connection to the Fae queen holds promise for when he gets his own book. Also good were Fiona's `family'. I loved Fiona's father surrogate Hopkins and his antagonist relationship with Christophe - I found their verbal sparring quite amusing.

There was a great deal I liked about Atlantis betrayed, and my only nit being that I thought that bad boy Christophe ended up just a bit too redeemed at the end, I think that he needed to be `good' with Fiona but keep his 'attitude' with his comrades.

Still I enjoyed Atlantis Betrayed and look forward to the next book - I think that there are two more jewels left to retrieve and at least two more warriors, Denal and Alaric, to get their stories as well - but from the teaser at the end of the book neither of them will be up next. Instead Day's next story stars vampire Daniel who has played a supporting role in the previous books.

Atlantis Betrayed is the story about Christophe and Fiona.
Christoph was sent to London to get another gem for Poseidon's Trident, the Siren.
As he was in the museum, where the Sword of William the Conquerer is, he mets Fiona, who will also steal the Siren

At the begin I was really close to skip the book. I thought,
I'm in the wrong movie ehm book. It remembers me at the action figure Lara Croft (with Angelina Jolie), who is also a Lady, lives in a mansion, has this special butler, a brother and another "knight" in armes and is a thief.
The resemblance between Fiona Campell and Lara Croft are very big.
So I couldn't really get warm with this character. Fiona was so predictable and a bad copy from Lara Croft.

About Christophe... In the earlier books Christophe was a completely different character. He has this bad attitudes and doesn't get along with Alaric, the High Priest.
Though there is a spark from all the conflicts between him and the other warriors, the story about him was flat.
We learn something about his past, but the problems he have with his powers and with the other warriors, they disappear without a declaration, a fight or a solution. It appears, as were there never a conflict between him and the other warriors and mainly with Alaric. In earlier books Christophe was at the edge, a fight between him and the High Priest inescapable, but there was nothing... it was quite boring.

The best character is the butler and there are some scenes with the warriors, which are good.
I miss also the passion and all consuming love between Christophe and Fiona like it was between the other couples.

I had great expectations about this book, but I was really disappointed. I hoped to read a book with passion, a lot of fights, but it was just boring. The story had great potential, but it didn't showed.

I hope the next book in the series about Daniel/Drako/Devon "Vampire in Atlantis" and Jack's book "Shifters in Atlantis" will getting better.

I would like to give more than two stars, but the story reminds me to much about Lara Croft and the other components were in parts just boring.

This is my favorite book so far in this series. Alyssa Day’s Warriors are hot and they charm their way right into your heart. This series is quickly becoming my favorite series, you don’t get a huge lot of new characters in each book and at least the villains are not always the same. Alyssa keeps things fresh and full of action. If you haven’t tried this series yet, please do, the first books are slim on the heat, but they get better as you keep going. Each book also brings you deeper into these Warriors of Poseidon agendas and what they are about. You get action, hot sex, humor and some sadness, Christophe childhood wasn’t always kind. I also found this book hotter than the others, so hold on to your fan you may need it.

I loved both Christophe and Lady Fiona their romance grows as they both partner up to steal the Siren the problem is they hit a lot of bumps on the way. I loved the butler Hopkins he is a laugh and he knows how to fight and use a gun;)

My favorite sex scene between these two was in the museum;)

My favorite passage is:
Fiona gasped and then fell back into her chair her lungs suddenly unable to fill with air. She began relaxation breathing of long, slow inhales and exhales. “You know, I think that this was perhaps and inch or two beyond what my rational mind can take right now. Atlantis, magic, gems, Fea royalty and vampire attacks. Oh, and lets not forget sex in the museum. Now my best friend is a Fea princess who just stole your best friend. I have had it. I am done. I’d like my straightjacket now, please.”

Okay so I am a little mad at myself for pushing this one off for so long. I have never been a fan of Christophe. I have pretty much hated him actually so I really had no desire to read his book BUT omg I love him now.

I was so freaking surprised by this book. I loved everything about it. Christophe was sweet, SWEET! Can you believe that? Psh. If I hadn't read it I wouldn't have either but he was. He was everything that is perfect about the Atlantis Warriors. Hell he was better. He may be my favorite.. I haven't decided about that yet but he may be. AND Fiona! I am girl crushing the hell out of her. SHES A FREAKING NINJA!!!! and she gives all her money to the needy. She's the perfect woman. No joke. She's awesome. I know for sure that she's my favorite female from the series so far.

Characters can make or break a book and even though I loved this story, if I didn't, I still would have loved it because the characters were perfect. Even the side characters were pretty dang awesome.

This book was funny, sexy, sweet, exciting and just freaking fantastic. By far my favorite book in the series so far!

Despite my dislike of Christophe from earlier books I ended up enjoying his story. He actually became quite likable and was very charming. There were some cute scenes in the book.

I think this is one of the better ones in this series.

More like a 4.75 because it was a bit slow in the beginning and the rinse and repeat romance dynamics but the level of spice certainly makes up for it and the continuation of plot lines was lovely. I have lots of questions tho so looking forward to the next book. Also no Poseidon appearance so love that

Sixth in the Warriors of Poseidon paranormal romance series revolving around the elite guard of the Crown Prince of Atlantis. The couple focus is on Christophe and Lady Fiona Campbell. The jewel of interest is the Siren.

My Take
This was an improvement over the last one! Although, to be fair, it could simply be the change of location that has pepped things up.

It was pretty stupid to just reconnoiter and not take the damn sword, although it does provide all sorts of action for the story… I did enjoy Christophe's stalking of Fiona! Too funny..! Then there's Hopkins' interaction with Christophe...LOL!

Christophe certainly learns a new perspective on his past and about children. Yes, we do learn why Christophe hates humans. With good reason, although it seems there was some extra influence there...

Fiona was very clever in her delivery on the challenge thrown her at by Lucinda. Very, very clever. And the cleverness just kept coming.

The Story
The sword of William the Conqueror, Vanquish, is exercising quite an attraction for a wide group of people interested in stealing it. Well, in removing the jewel in its hilt. The Siren. An aquamarine that commands the shape-shifters. Deadly in the hands of the vampires interested in acquiring it. A lot of money to the Scarlet Ninja. And, an essential element of Poseidon's Trident.

Our romance begins when Fiona and Christophe almost literally run into each other inside the Tower of London when each is on a reconnaissance run for the sword.

A sword that suddenly disappears and Christophe and Lady Fiona reluctantly band together to find the jewel, clear the Scarlet Ninja's reputation...and evade the sudden interest of shape-shifters, vampires, and the Unseelie Court.

The Characters
Fiona Campbell has her own particular magic which she uses when she flits about by night as the Scarlet Ninja stealing art and jewels. By day, she's Lady Fiona and the author of a highly successful series of children's fantasy books. Madeline is her assistant. Hopkins is her extremely handy and concerned butler. Declan is her computer genius brother. Sean is her ward; a fifteen-year-old whom she saved from a savage beating.

Christophe is increasingly miserable. He hates his life. He hates protecting humans. And he certainly doesn't want to enter the priesthood! The rest of the Seven include the King's Vengeance "Ven" and Erin; Lord Justice (Ven and Conlan's half-brother) and Dr. Keely McDermott; Alexios with his part goddess-huntress Grace; Brennan's curse has been broken and he's with Tiernan Butler, a reporter; Denal who ends up having his own unexpected adventure in the Summer Lands; and, the infrequent Bastien with his park ranger-kitty Kat. Alaric is the High Priest. Prince Conlan and Princess Riley are married now with a baby boy, Prince Aidan, a.k.a., His Royal Drooliness.

Quinn is mentioned; Jack and Daniel are not.

Lord Fairsby is the new director of Scotland Yard's new Paranormal Ops division. Lucinda is the wolf alpha in London; Evan is her mate.

Prince Gideon na Feransel of the Unseelie Court is working towards the same general goal as Rhys na Garanwyn of the Seelie Court. He does, however, have his own particular twist he intends to put on both Lady Fiona and the Siren. His sister Lady Maeve Fairsby has her own agenda. Telios is a somewhat mad vampire who is able to lord it over everyone. Silly vamp...he thinks he has a deal with Gideon. His existence does answer Christophe's question at the beginning.

The Cover and Title
The cover is reds! With Big Ben in the background and a half-clad Christophe moving forward with intent.

I assume that the Atlantis Betrayed is in the duplicity of the fae...

Perhaps a bit anti-social and disillusioned with his oath given to Poseidon to protect the human race, the hero has never been entirely sold on the idea they are worth saving. They caused him pain and suffering as a child, same as the Fae and it were up to him, he would let the mortal fend for themselves. All he wants is to complete his mission to retrieve the stone of Poseidon’s scepter and return to Atlantis. Seeking into the heavily secured museum is stupidly easy for a man of his gifts and ability but he finds something unexpected when he gets there. Rather, he finds a who.

The heroine aka the Scarlet Ninja is not in fact a male master thief but a female one and a beautiful one to boot. From the instant he meets her in that secure room, both of them looking to steal the same artifact, he is intrigued. The heroine is a thief not for personal gain and never will she allow the Scarlet Ninjas reputation be anything besides the Robin Hood of the present. She steals but she gives. She donates to charities with her earnings and generally just wants the thrill of the hunt. But she always knew that eventually things would change. Perhaps she has become cocky or brazen with her actions but now she finds herself face to face with a man more dangerous than any met before. The hero is stunned when he finds himself shot by a sleeping dart and outsmarted by his beautiful little thief but it won’t stop himself from tracking her down. He shows up in her house and makes her aware that she is no longer a secret and that while he has no plans to harm her in anyway, neither can he pretend that he can walk away. Not when he feels for her what he’s never felt for another woman. Now parents, the hero and heroine work together to track down the stone that eluded them both back at the museum, a stone that in the wrong hands will be used for evil. The bond between them is instant and strong, built on a common goal and a mutual respect. The hero refuses to allow the woman he’s come to love to be targeted by the Fae who have always been the enemy and who now seek to destroy the world as they know it.

I quite liked this story. I found it very easy to read and got swept away into the story of an antisocial Atlantean warrior and a vulnerable storytelling thief. The relationship between these characters was certainly magical and I liked the freedom they possessed to accept that something special connected them. From the start, the hero was very protective of his thief. This is because he respected her and saw an innocence in her despite her bravery and capable abilities. He never imagined he would come to feel this way about a human considering his childhood which saw him abused by his adopted human parents but he grew to like and eventually love this small human woman. The heroine was a different sort who on one hand was this badass thief, able to hand herself in a fight if need be while at the same time caring so deeply for her family and worrying that due to her actions, she would put them in danger. She was also very liberal with her feelings towards the hero and at no point did they question the desire between them. The conflict was not their relationship but rather the search for the stone and the defeat of their enemies. I both liked and disliked this. I would have enjoyed a bit more tension in their relationship because it was a bit easy. Not a bad story, maybe not a love it sorts of rating though.

Atlantis Betrayed by Alyssa Day
Paranormal Romance- Sep 7th 2010
5 stars

I loved Atlantis Betrayed! It is definitely my new favorite in Alyssa Day’s Warriors of Poseidon series. The hero is super hot and heroine is more than a match for him!

Lady Fiona is the notorious Scarlet Ninja, a famous thief. And her new target the Siren. The large jewel set in the sword of William the Conquer. Unfortunately, it is locked done under the tight security of the Tower of London . While she is casing the Tower she comes across an unlikely and mysterious man and shoots him leaving the sword for another time. But what she doesn’t realize is her foe is a powerful Warrior of Poseidon with powers of his own. He recovers and tracks Fiona confronting her and ‘persuading’ her to joining forces to steal the sword.

Christophe is bored. His latest assignment, to steal the Siren from the Tower of London . He doesn’t find it a challenge but his is surprised and aroused by the lovely Scarlet Ninja and when she injures him all he can think of taking his revenge on her delightful body. When he meets her he finds himself spellbound and acting very uncharacteristic! He likes her and actually wants to please her. But soon the find themselves under attack. And both will need each other because another and more dangerous foe wants the sword and intends to use it power…

At first when I read the blurb about a heroine that is a fairy tale writer by day and by night the Scarlet Ninja a renowned thief. I really wondered if this plot would work. And boy did it! This was an outrageously fun book that had some really likeable characters. Fiona is partially Fae and has cool abilities to bend light. She is also smart and sassy! I loved her butler who is a cross between Batman’s Alfred and James Bond. And instead of being annoying her younger brother is perky and adds a human dimension to Fiona. Plus there are some interesting and evil Fae and vampire lurking in the story. So this book has everything, including a somewhat grumpy and bored hero who was very charming. The main characters definitely had a chemistry that was a joy to read. They played against each other beautifully.

I have to say this book has really got me looking forward to Alyssa Day’s upcoming books. I really, really want to know more about the young warrior Denal who finds himself as a guard to the beautiful Fae Princess Maeve. I hope the author includes more Fae in her future books. They are deliciously evil! The author also sneaks in quite a few scenes with prior characters that faithful readers will enjoy.

This story was fun and even lighthearted. At times I found myself laughing out loud and really getting into the spirit of this exiting and thrilling romp. This is book you will not want to miss!

Favorite Quote: “We’re better together then apart. Isn’t that what love truly means?”

What could Christophe, a powerful Warrior of Poseidon, have in common with Fiona Campbell, the notorious jewel thief known as the Scarlet Ninja? Answer-the Siren. A legendary Crown Jewel that Fiona has targeted for her next heist. It's said to be worth millions, but to Christophe it's invaluable. For the Siren also happens to be one of the missing jewels from Poseidon's trident. But breaking into the Tower of London is a two-person job, and Christophe and Fiona must team up to commit the crime of the century.

Christophe expected no problems when he is commanded by his Prince to go to London and “liberate” the Siren from the Tower of London. But when he is shot, kissed, and left for dead by a beautiful woman...he knows trouble comes in red. Christophe is deemed one of the most unbalanced of Poseidon warriors. Powerful and angry, Christophe hates the humanity he is sworn to protect due to his childhood. Something about Fiona balances the emotions that run ramped through him. From their first kiss, he will do anything to possess and keep her forever.

Lady Fiona Campbell aka the Scarlet Ninja is a titled beauty by day and an infamous cat burglar at night. She has been hired to steal the legionary Siren for a client. But when she runs into Christophe at the Tower of London, she is instantly attracted to him. But a job is a job and she needs the Siren. She tries to take him out of the picture but Christophe is not any ordinary man. He follows her to her home to offer her a deal. Partners or he reveals her secret.

As they work together to steal the Siren, they reveal a plot in the making that threatens both humanity and the supernatural world.
I have always adored Christophe and was thrilled to see him get his own story. He’s been an enigma through out the previous books but finally Ms. Day lets us in Christophe's psyche and heart. In Atlantis Betrayed he is so much more personable and oooo la la smexy. We are treated to glimpses of his rare humor and the depth his emotions will go when he meets his one true love. The beast is tamed.

Another great read from Alyssa Day. Her Warriors of Poseidon consistently give a good read with lots of action, interesting characters, and a well crafted world.

The hero this time round is Christophe [who the reader has occasionally wanted to slap and various characters have grown steadily more concerned about] over the last several books. He's been sent to steal one of the Crown Jewels from the Tower of London [it's one of the Trident Jewels] and seems to be rather bored with the task - until he meets the heroine who has her own plans for the same jewel. Of course while she beats a hasty retreat [having tranked him] and he follows her home someone else steals the jewel...

The Fae have a much larger role in this book - previously they have made dramatically enigmatic appearances but haven't really been a major mover in the plots. There is one major complication that is left unresolved at the end of the book - setting the scene for a future book, no doubt.

This is a series where is order is pretty important - the short stories [2 & 4 below] are a bit peripheral to the story line but try to read in order. You'll enjoy them more!

Warriors of Poseidon
1. Atlantis Rising (2007)
2. Wild Hearts in Atlantis (2007) (in Wild Thing)
3. Atlantis Awakening (2007)
4. Shifter's Lady (2008) (in Shifter)
5. Atlantis Unleashed (2008)
6. Atlantis Unmasked (2009)
7. Atlantis Redeemed (2010)
8. Atlantis Betrayed (2010)

OMG, this series has been quite a ride. I'm so in love with all the characters at this point that I just know I found one more fav. The world building is terrific, you get to read about shifters, faeries, witches & sorcerers, vampires, gods & goddesses, and our amazing warriors of Poseidon. What not to like about it? Also you get a different perspective of the paranormal world as the creatures in it are almost not good at all, mostly villains except for some exceptions in every spices. But what I like the most is that with every book things seem to be getting even more important, like something huge is going to come.

In this installment we get to read about Christof. Let me tell you that I thought he would be boring because he had not caught my attention at all in the previous installment and his book was the one with the lowest rating (4.something) But boy was I wrong, it ended up being my absolutely fav in the series. so far. I loved Christof. This book was just terrific and I can't wait to get my hands in the next one. Oh, it is going to be a long wait!!!

I love Alyssa's world of Atlantis. I look forward to all her books because I know the story is going to continue and can be part of that make believe world. I'm going to be really sad when the adventure ends. I know they all have to end or else they become routine...kind of like Christine Feehan's Carpathian series. I enjoyed it for a while but then it kinda got old. Christophe and Fiona were a fun read. I like all the humor Alyssa throws in that makes you just laugh out loud...like Alaric. I am eagerly waiting for his story ;) This is an awesome addition to the warriors of Atlantis and a must read. Thanks Alyssa!

I enjoyed reading this book. It had a great storyline and it was really captivating. I wasn't that thrilled with the romance part of the book. I think they started off way too fast. I really wasn't able to get a feel for the romance; so it was just okay. What I really loved about this book was that I didn't have to start reading the entire series to get a feel for the characters. Sometimes you have to do that, but this book was able to stand on its own. Fun read.

Another great installment in the Warriors of Poseidon series. My only complaint is yet another heroine with unrealistic expectations of herself. If I was surrounded by vampires or enraged shapeshifters and the big, strong Atlantean warrior asked me to run away, I would. Just sayin'. However it all worked out in the end so I guess that's okay.

Talk about fey , a thief and a warrior of the sea god. This was a great story i enjoyed reading. A woman with abilities and a warrior on a mission to get a jewel of Atlantis and she happens to be his mate of all things. Evil bad guys are back to get other races of people in their ranks or control and he alone must stop them. Then again a thief is exactly what he needs. A must read

great characters. The writing has gotten so much better (the wrong word or words so the sentence doesn't make sense). Lots of action in this book. Fiona is the kind of woman Christophe needs. Funny.

London – tower with the crown jewels, Campbell Hall; Atlantis – the ‘outdoors’, the warrior’s quarters, the war room; Non-Seelie court;

Christophe: Warrior of Poseidon; disillusioned; anti-human (as 2,000 years ago his parents killed by Scottish peasants who feared them and turned them to the fae, and one kept him for a year, in a box, beaten often until finally rescued by Atlanteans; powers grown; sent to recover the Siren (needed for Poseidon’s trident) – which is part of sword in the Crown Jewels;

Fiona Campbell aka Scarlet Ninja: illustrator of fairy tales; thief, who steals art and gives the money to various charities, trying to bolster humanity from harm done by vampires; has fae blood (royal court fae blood) that allows her to disappear like a chameleon;

Hopkins: butler and security, 2nd father to Fiona;

Declan:: Fiona’s brother, computer genius, ends up in land of fae, cavorting with the fairies (loosing his virginity)

Sean: 15 year old teen that Fiona rescued from the streets – not sure significance of him;

Lucinda and Evan: she’s wolf alpha in London, with her mate; Fiona and Christophe go to the pub to meet them, get into a ‘who’s is bigger’ contest, some knives and guns come out, and Fiona gets them out of it with the offer of telling a story about the Moon Goddess (and Lucinda’s daughter loves Fiona’s work); they and pack are then taken & mistreated by Gideon who is using the Siren;

Prince Gideon na Feransel of the Unseelie Court: masterminds/manipulates Telios to take the Siren, and plans to control shifters and humans with it, and make himself the rulers;

Lady Maeve Fairsby and Denal: Fiona’s best friend (who is Unseely Court) and Warrior of Poseidon; when Fiona and Christophe confront her, she tries to thrall them, but not meanly… and then Denal decides to go with her to the land of fae… the next book?; though she does take her brother’s head once Fiona and Christophe defeat him;

Both Christophe and Fiona are after the sword – they meet in the jewel room, she kisses him and shoots him with a dart; she is able to escape, but he is enough able to overcome drug by misting, and following her – passing out in the trunk of her car;

They end up partners – in ‘crime’ when the sword is stolen by another and in bed; they track to stone – to werewolves in London 😊, and vampires, and to the Fae;

They recover it when Fiona sacrifices herself to go with Gideon (fae unseeley king who wants to breed with her) to save Christophe and brother, and Christophe agrees to show Gideon how the Siren is controlled – and he uses it to knock out Gideon and rescue Fiona…

And Fiona follows Christophe back to Atlantis, because he needs to finish his job…

Ревюто в Wanderbook

A warrior’s mission, a woman’s desire…
What could Christophe, powerful Warrior of Poseidon, have in common with Fiona Campbell, prim and proper Scottish illustrator of fairy tales by day and notorious jewel thief known as the Scarlet Ninja by night? Answer: The Siren, a legendary Crown Jewel that Fiona has targeted for her next heist. It’s said to be worth millions, but to Christophe it’s invaluable. For the Siren also happens to be one of the missing jewels from Poseidon’s trident.
And the unnatural evil that could destroy them both...
But breaking into the Tower of London is a two-person job, so Christophe and Fiona team up to commit the crime of the century. As newfound passions fire their motives--and cloud their judgment--they realize they aren’t the only ones after the priceless gem. A dark force is shadowing their every move, and threatening to shatter their trust with revenge, betrayal, and a haunting revelation about the past.

Heather's Notes
I am not sure why it takes me so long to get to these books (or through them). They are not bad books. I guess they are just forgettable. Nothing was really wrong with Christophe or Fiona (all though her "it's all my fault" attitude annoyed), but it also didn't make me want to run and grab the next one either. I did not care for the entire Brennen storyline either. Still we will see.

For Atlantis to rise again a variety of gems with special powers are needed and while a few have been collected and are safe in Atlantis, there are still a few in danger of falling into the wrong hands. Christophe is sent to London to retrieve the Siren, which happens to be an invaluable English crown jewel as well. While trying to steal the Siren Christophe runs into the Scarlet Ninja, aka Lady Fiona Campbell, a modern day Robin Hood who is a children’s book author by day and a highly skilled thief by night. When the Siren does fall into the wrong hands, they are forced to work together in order to keep humanity safe from evil forces and bring Atlantis a step closer to rising to the surface.

Christophe is an Atlantean warrior and it’s safe to say he could be considered the rebel, problem child of the group of Warriors we’ve gotten to know in the course of this series. He’s unstable due to the huge amount of powerful magic he has and though he fulfills his duty as protector of humanity he feels resentment towards them because of the torment inflicted upon him in his childhood. Christophe is blunt and direct and uses that as a defense mechanism and to hide his vulnerability. He is wicked, unruly and cocky. He’s a bad boy with a sense of honor and duty and very explosive in his emotions.

Small and intriguing tidbits about Christophe are revealed gradually. He is a fascinating and complicated character and I loved reading his story and seeing him fall hard for a woman, knowing he didn’t stand a chance of resisting. It’s fascinating to see how easily Christophe gives in to the lust he feels for Fiona and acts upon it and how reluctant he is in giving in to the falling in love with her and admitting to those feelings, while it’s clear as day to everyone.

Fiona is a lot more than meets the eye. Like Christophe her youth was far from peaceful and the double life she leads isn’t easy either. She is generous, empathetic and defiant, but she’s also courageous and not afraid to take charge when she needs to. Fiona reminded me a little of Lara Croft or Batgirl or any other female superhero with a double identity. I liked her character a lot but did feel like she fell a little bit short next to Christophe who was a commanding character that automatically drew the attention to him.

The banter between the characters (the warriors, the women, Fiona and her household) is right on the mark, as usual. I just love Alyssa Day’s sense of humor and her witty characters. Declan, Fiona’s baby brother, absolutely caught my attention in this one and I hope he’ll at least get a novella in this series someday. Another secondary character worth mentioning is Hopkins, Fiona’s butler, his protective streak and humor definitely brought something extra to this book and contributed to my enjoyment of it.

It took me a while (about 40-60 pages) to get into the story of ATLANTIS BETRAYED but once it got hold of me it just wouldn’t let go. First let me get one thing that bothered me a bit out of the way and then I’ll start my praise of this wonderful 5th book in the Warriors of Poseidon series.

I’m going to chuck it to the sexual pleasure-induced haze but I thought it was a bit weird that Fiona didn’t question or even pick up on Christophe’s references to Atlantis and Poseidon during their first time of lovemaking. A first time which also came way too soon in their story in my opinion. This particular part of the story felt rushed and a little out of place. I missed a the tension of a little build up towards the first sexual encounter in a book and it was as if I was missing some scenes between their very first encounter in the Tower and the moment they get hot and heavy and go at it. This being said, it was the only thing that really bothered me and I thoroughly enjoyed everything that happened after this small awkward part of ATLANTIS BETRAYED

When FV had ATLANTIS BETRAYED by Alyssa Day up for grabs for review I didn’t hesitate and signed up for it because I’ve been a fan of this series from the very first book and though I have my favorites and less favorites the overall story arc is one that is brilliantly executed by Alyssa Day and I really enjoy reading this series. I especially like the feel of this series, which is a combination of modern habits and language with the feel of old times. ATLANTIS BETRAYED absolutely fits in that feel.

All the installments of the Warrior of Poseidon series have been pretty hot but ATLANTIS BETRAYED brings it up another notch with some very explicit love scenes. I’ll be the last to object to that because it suited Christophe’s character, personality and the way she set him up in the previous books perfectly: wild and kinky. The love scenes were one of the things that set this installment apart from the others, next to the different setting, which was in Europe (London) this time.

ATLANTIS BETRAYED is a novel filled with betrayal, power plays, hidden agendas, awesome fight sequences, steamy passion and some surprising turn of events. I loved it and can’t wait for the next book in the series and the next twists and turns in this world Alyssa Day has created and is expanding with every installment, working towards an ending that’s setting my speculative skills in gear.

So if you love your paranormal romances to steam it up a little and you have a penchant for wicked bad boy heroes and paranormal characters other than just vampires and werewolves, definitely check this series and ATLANTIS BETRAYED out, you won’t regret it.

Favorite Quotes:
Oh, yes. He was trouble.
Trouble blinked; long, dark lashes closing over emerald-green eyes so gorgeous they had to be illegal in most of Europe. Then he threw back his head and laughed, and shivers traced a delicate pattern down her spine. His deep, rich laugh was dark chocolate and champagne and silk sheets all presented in a wickedly mouthwatering package.

Wicked little wench. She was going to be very, very sorry she’d ever shot an Atlantean warrior. He might have to tie her up and take a considerable amount of time teaching her a lesson.
With his lips.
With his cock.

I am so loving this series.

Christophe and Fiona...

Fiona is Scottish upper-class, Christophe is a warrior of Poseidon who can't see his own value because of his tortured childhood.

Fiona is a sweetheart with an awesome attitude...lol I love how she stands up for everything and everyone and defends the world at all costs she really is like a female warrior but she also has a vulnerable side, Fiona does what she does to help people in need and that is what makes her who she is.
Christophe is a warrior but he doesn't always feel it because he thinks he doesn't belong anywhere, he needs to find his own inner strength to see the true warrior he is and let Fiona in. This was another winning action adventure for me with a sweet-side romance with awesome supernatural twists.
