"I shiver in my exoskeleton."
The story starts as a space opera and as it develops gradually touches on other themes. The ending promises interesting further development.

Presentación de la protagonista y arranque de una serie de "space opera" muy entretenida (Y que va a mas según avanza) Una trama interesante con bastante acción y muy buen dibujo.

This review is for all the 16 books I've read so far.
Wow. Fun space opera about a savaged human girl getting 'discovered' by an intergalactic alliance. She gets recruited as an elite spy diplomat whatever and has to deal with missions spanning across planets, involving various technologies and aliens.
The plot thickens with each book as the corruption of the intergalactic alliance comes into the spotlight.
Art: franco-belgian art style with Japanese influences. A LOT of panels on each page, powered up by strong, lush colors. The drawings improve with every book and look stellar from volume 10. The artist is especially good at drawing planetary and technological details as well as action sequences, which flash with a video game speed.
Story: tightening web of lies and intrigue, alleged alliances and backstabbing. A very good mix between action and plot, that's why I 'burned' through the series in about a week. Each new book introduces a new planet with its unique flora and fauna, and its alien inhabitants of course.
This series is recommended to any sci-fi fan who also loves comics with an European touch.

Świetna kreska. Chociaż sama ścieżka fabularna chociaż już w gatunku jest oklepana, to i tak wg mnie mogła zaoferować wiele... Niestety, ku chwale przekory, Armada przeszła na ciemną stronę mocy, bo gna drogą na skróty na łeb na szyję i bez dbałości o szczegóły.
Generalnie fajowa ciekawostka, szczególnie, że elementy tego komiksu prawdopodobnie w jakimś stopniu wpłynęły na scenariusz Avatara (tego od Pandory). Po pierwszym zeszycie nie mam jednak ochoty wywalać szmalu na kolejne.

Great art (though for the prudish american audience they inked a censor bar across the the protagonist in her 'natural' state). Vivid, rich colors, setting modd and tone, lucid flowing lines denoting action. Crisp detail to the depths of the page and horizons, the artist in me is deeply jealous of Buchet's mastery.
Morvan and Buchet envision a complex and interesting society that emerges from a convoy of ships sculling about the far reaches of unknown space. This caravan seems to act as the center of Civilization as they know it, searching for new worlds to enpeople. Or en-critterize, whatever.
They encounter Navee's lush idyllic eden thinking it uninhabited (since a mind scan uncovers no sentients) and it is granted to a heat loving race who plan to nudge it a few fractions of an AU closer to the sun. Unitl Navee is discovered, and apparent survivor of a shipwreck, self-raised and semi-feral (with her sapertoothed junglecat companion).
Political consternation ensues, as the denizens-to-be try to have her existence wiped out, so as to retain legal stake and claim. But naturally she proves tougher than she looks, and complicates matters by being of a never-before-discovered race (humans, natch'rally) that's apparently immune to mind-scan.
Fastpaced action from start to finish, spunky protagonist in the 'tough little girl' mode, though not overly sexualized and creepy.

Sillage on valtava eri galaksien avaruusaluksista koostuva laivue, joka etsii uusia elinkelpoisia planeettoja. Laivue koostuu tuhansista erilaisista roduista ja eri kehitysasteisista sivilisaatioista. Mutta vasta nyt he törmäävät ensimmäisen kerran ihmiseen.
Ja tuo ihminen Navin, viidakossa yksin elävä nainen. Kuin naispuolinen Tarzan konsanaan. Myös yhtä vähäpukeinen. Sillagen elämänetsintäbotti laskeutuu tytön lähelle ja alkaa kilpajuoksu, jossa panoksena on Navinin kotiplaneetan tuhoutuminen.
Sillagen juonessa on elämää etsivän laivaston myötä ihan hyvä kehys monenlaisille seikkailuille. Ensimmäinen osa on ihan menevästi kulkeva, selkeästi piirretty ja värikäs scifi-seikkailu. Ei mitään mullistavaa, mutta asetelmassa on potentiaalia. Jotenkapa taidan lukaista näitä muutaman lisää.

Excellent start to the series. Amazing art with a clean, lively, fun cartooning style. The main character, Navis, is well-drawn with strong expressions and reminds me of battle Angel Alita (another great series). Beyond the cartooning, Buchet also excels with concepts. Many, many original designs. From a variety of aliens to robots to spaceships to various pieces of tech. All of it highly detailed and fully realized.
Morvan’s script is also good. Fast moving, focused and with many interesting ideas.
The story concerns a human girl, Navis, who lives on a primitive planet. One day she is out hunting with her tiger when she accidentally destroys a probe which turns out to be from an intergalactic convoy known as Wake/Sillage.
Investigating the wreck, she is possessed by a scout, a small psychic alien that looks like a baby caterpillar, and is subsequently tracked down by an alien from Wake and his unintelligent migrunt servants, who look as though they are sculpted from clay.
The alien, wearing an elaborate calefaction suit, is from a race of red slug people known as the hottards who require extreme heat to survive. They’re looking for a new planet and intend to “hottaform” Navis’ home world by moving it closer to the sun with something called a diverter, which looks like a giant laser. Killing off the indigenous life in the process.
So that’s the basic conflict of the book.
SPOILER
Navis battles the alien and her tiger is killed (increasing empathy for her and antipathy for the antagonist). She manages to escape and take refuge in her home, which turns out to be the ruin of an immense starship buried deep beneath a titanic tree.
The script doesn’t spell this out, but presumably the ship was human-built. Navis is the sole survivor of the disaster which caused it to crash, though she was too young to remember the ship’s origin and function. The robots who raised her have run out of power and sit neglected in the dark.
When the aliens discover the ship, they realize that it is the product of an intelligent civilization they have never encountered. According to the rules of Wake, the planet must therefore be preserved and studied.
But the hottard commander refuses, intent on making a new home world for his dying people. He murders his robot assistant and sets out to eliminate Navis and wipe out all traces of her existence.
Navis battles the migrunts in the shipwreck with the help of the psychic baby. She is able to convince the dim witted migrunts to join her. The baby caterpillar sends out a distress beacon to Wake.
Navis leads her migrunt army to attack the diverter, but the hottard reasserts control over some of the migrunts and they begin fighting each other.
Navis attacks the hottard but he gets the upper hand.
And at that point the cavalry arrives — a detachment from Wake with combat robots. Its commander orders the migrunts to take their “reward” and they dissolve into goo. All except one migrunt named boo with a gear in his eye. Navis is rescued and the hottard imprisoned.
We then cut to the hottard’s trial. He refuses to repent and is sentenced to become a ship’s engine or something like that.
We then see Navis, happy and running through the jungle. She believes the whole thing has been a dream until she runs into a glass wall. Zooming out we see that she is in captivity within a terrarium on a colossal starship, one of many within an unfathomable convoy. (Great depiction of scale)
Lastly we see what has become of her planet — given over to the hottards, its surface transformed to red sand. The hottards have built a shrine to their condemned savior, and his widow sheds a tear which immediately becomes steam.

Début de série intriguant, mais dialogues un peu épais et intrigue mincette. C'est peut-être ma vue qui baisse, mais on dirait que les dessins sont trop petits... Sinon, j'ai hâte d'en savoir un peu plus.

Ensimmäisen albumin perusteella sivuutin Sillagen ihan kokonaan tissi- ja peppuosaston euroscifiksi mutta satuin myöhemmin lukemaan lisää ja paljastui paremmaksi kuin luulin, ne myöhemmät osat. Ensimmäinen on vain heikompi esitys.

Wnętrze albumu Armada #1 skrywa trzy pierwsze tomy historii. Cała fabuła rozpoczyna się tutaj w chwili kiedy zwiadowca tytułowej „Armady” (wielkiego konwoju statków, składającego się z tysięcy jednostek), podejmuje się zbadania tajemniczej roślinnej planety. Na ukazanym świecie obok najróżniejszych zwierzą, żyje również pewna dziewczyna Navis. Jest ona świadkiem tego, jak jednostka zwiadowcza rozbija się o ziemię. W tym momencie niebyła ona jeszcze świadoma, że incydent ten drastycznie zmieni całe jej dotychczasowe życie. Flota na poszukiwanie zwiadowcy wysyła bowiem Heiliiga, który po przybyciu na planetę, postanawia przejąć ją dla siebie i unicestwić całe tamtejsze życie. Navis nie ma jednak zamiaru mu na to pozwolić i zrobi wszystko, aby uratować swój dom. Pięćdziesiąt stron wartkiej i przyjemnej akcji, jest jedynie wstępem do dalszej „kosmicznej” przygody młodej bohaterki. W dwóch kolejnych dostępnych tutaj rozdziałach Navis będzie musiała szybko przyzwyczaić się do nowych realiów i udowodnić swoją przydatność dla „Armady”. Zostaje ona dobrze wyszkoloną agentką, na którą będą czekać najróżniejsze wyzwania i liczne niebezpieczeństwa.
Armada to naprawdę ciekawa i warta uwagi pozycja, która nadal stanowi łakomy kąsek dla miłośników wciągających powieści graficznych z segmentu sci-fi. Całą serię w dużym uproszczeniu można byłoby określić mianem komiksowej space opery. Znajdziemy tutaj wszystko, co powinno znaleźć się w dziele tego typu. Jest widowiskowa akcja (rozgrywająca się na planetach i w przestrzeni kosmicznej), są świetnie wykreowani bohaterowie (różnych ras), są dobrze napisane polityczno-galaktyczne wątki/intrygi oraz całkiem przyjemna dawka prostego humoru. Dzięki takiej „różnorodności” cykl może spodobać się szerokiej grupie odbiorców.
Jean-David Morvan w swoim scenariuszu umieścił się tylko różnorodne wątki i widowiskową akcję, ale również sporo filmowego suspensu. Sprawia to, że przedstawiona historia jest mocno angażująca dla czytelnika i trudno jest się od niej oderwać. Autor świetnie radzi sobie nie tylko z wydarzeniami ukazanymi na pierwszym planie, ale również z szerszym kontekstem fabuły. Tło akcji głównie skupia się tu na społeczno-obyczajowej otoczce z lekką typową dla komiksu europejskiego nutką moralizatorstwa. W żadnym momencie tego typu treści nie są nazbyt „nachalne” i stanowią jedynie miły dodatek znacząco pogłębiający historię.
Jeśli miałbym wymienić pewne ewentualne wady Armada #1, to niektórym czytelnikom może przeszkadzać pewna dawka lekkiej erotyki. Dotyczy to głównie pierwszego rozdziału i nie jest to nic nadmiernie szokującego. Sillage est le nom d'un convoi de vaisseaux parcourant l'espace à la recherche de nouvelles planètes et de ressources permettant à la colonie de survivre et de se développer. Ce convoi regroupe des races totalement différentes et est régi par un système politique assez avancé — ce n'est pas une horde sauvage mais une organisation bien établie. La colonisation ne doit pas être menée à n'importe quel prix, l'esprit scientifique prime sur l'économie et l'observation et la préservation des nouvelles espèces est privilégiée. C'est justement sur ce point qu'est centré le premier tome. Nous suivons l'établissement d'une colonie sur une petite planète sur laquelle l'analyse préalable n'avait détecté aucune forme de vie intelligente. Pourtant, une jeune fille y vit à l'état sauvage accompagnée d'une sorte de tigre. Il se pourrait bien que cette fille soit le premier spécimen découvert d'une espèce depuis longtemps disparue: l'espèce humaine.
Ce premier tome de sillage pose le décor tout en étant divertissant et rythmé. Les dessins sont à l'avenant, ils sont très soignés dans un style clair et consensuel. C'est une bonne petite série de SF, grand public, sympa pleine de charme et très accessible.
Le côté émancipation des masses présent dans l'histoire est un peu exagéré mais a le mérite d'amener une réflexion et un peu de morale dans une série dont ce n'est pas le but premier. Après cette lecture, une foule de questions restent ouvertes: que va-t-il advenir de la jeune Nävis, quel est le but de Sillage, que vont devenir les personnages rencontrés dans ce premier tome ... Kuvitus tässä sarjakuvassa on erittäin laadukasta. Sen sijaan juonessa tökkii jokin. Ei oikein synny mitään kihelmöivää jännitystä ainakaan henkilöiden tasolle. Päähenkilö Navis on suoraviivainen, mutta ketterä toimija, joka tekee äkkipikaisia päätöksiä. Örkkien puolella toimii vain täysin kasvottomia ja persoonattomia olentoja, minua ei juuri kiinnostanut miten heille käy. Taustajuoni on sentään kiinnostava. Että Sillage on suuri avaruuslaivojen saattue, joka on löytänyt ensi kertaa ihmisen, kenties ainoan eloon jääneen, Navisin. Myös örkkien tapa kääntyä välittömästi omaa johtajaansa vastaan, kun Navis niin pyysi, oli epäuskottava ja vailla logiikkaa. Tai ymmärsin sen, että kun Navis piirsi heidän otsiinsa kuvioita, niin he tulivat itsetietoisiksi, samoin kuin eläimet, joiden otsaan on piirretty piste, ja jotka näkevät sitten itsensä peilistä. Tämä kirja päättyi kuitenkin jännittävään tilanteeseen. Aion lukea seuraavankin.

J'ai été agréablement surpris de cette BD. Je l'ai vu à la bibliothèque près de la série XIII. Quand je l'ai ouvert, les dessins m'ont tout de suite épatés. Je l'ai emprunté sans même savoir à quoi m'attendre.
L'histoire ressemble beaucoup à celle du film Avatar où une planète est envahie par des extraterrestres qui veulent s'y établir. Cependant, Sillage a une règle, c'est de ne pas occuper une planète où y habite une espèce intelligente. Une des race de ce convoit est bien décidée de s'y établir malgré la présence de Navis une jeune femme remplie de talent.
La série commence très fort avec ce premier tome remplis d'action. Les dessins sont vraiment magnifiques. C'est de la science-fiction qui me change de mon habituel Star Wars. Pour moi c'est une très belle découverte.

I'm not usually a graphic novel guy, but the art in these books is incredible. So many cool aliens and spaceships drawn in such exacting detail. It's worth a look even if you can't find a translation from the original French.
The story feels truncated (as comic stories usually do to me), but also complete and satisfying with great character depth achieved in minimal real estate.
The fact that the heroine spends the entire book topless makes it awkward to read on a crowded train, but an otherwise outstanding reading experience!

A croire que 2016 est l'année de la BD, je ne respecte même plus mon principe d’alterner la lecture d'un livre imagé avec un livre non imagé.
Un ami m'a prêté cette bande dessinée. Nävis est la seule représentante de l'espèce humaine sur sa planète, elle rencontre l'organisation Sillage qui voulait prendre possession de sa planète. Etant une espèce inconnue pour elle, ils décident de la capturer.
Très bonne introduction à la série.

Amazing artwork and imaginative stories. The biggest impression I got from reading this is how many more panels this book contains than the average American comic. Where most US comics have about 3-6 panels per page, this book manages about 11-13 panels each page. The overall effect is the feeling of getting a lot more STORY for your buck. And there is not a lazy drawing to be seen.

Ben tin.. j'étais un peu surpris de recevoir cela pour ma Noël, j'ai lu les 4 premiers tomes il y a un moment, un pret de mon ami Olo... et j'avais du coup oublié que cette série s'annonçait tant intéressante. Avec un style de dessin un peu différent de ce que je lis, un style plus "comics", mais une histoire 100% à mon goût !

suprisingly liked it, even though i'm not that much into sci-fi.
it was fun, a girl living in the forest against the aliens who try to destroy her planet. she is some sort of female version of Tarzan, which makes her incredibly hot.
overall the story is quite dynamic, drawing is ok, though at times it was difficult to understand who is who, due to weird structure of aliens i guess.

Heb het eerste deel van deze strip ontleend uit de bibliotheek in de hoop een nieuwe, boeiende reeks ontdekken. En ja hoor, dit eerste deel van Konvooi is echt wel mijn ding: zeer mooie kleurrijke en dynamische tekeningen, een boeiende verhaal, een uiterst charmante hoofdrolspeelster, veel humor... ik ben echt nieuwsgierig naar de volgende delen!

BTW: The pace of the story is slow, which is not a bad thing at all, but the description and many of the reviews refer to events that obviously take place in later volumes. This is just the intro.

Ihan kiintoisa avaruuteen sijoittuva jatkosarjis. En ehkä ole ihan täysin ihastunut, mutta varovaisen optimistinen jatkon suhteen. Mukavahan näitä on lukea, kun vihdoin ymmärsi tällaisten olemassaolon.

L'intrigue et la construction du monde sont sophistiquées - plus que ce que j'attendais! Des personnages aux motivations assez complexes et un langage visuel convaincant et expressif - il ya beaucoup du potentiel. Je vais certainement continuer à lire cette série!
