Pillars and Prophets

Rate this book
In Pillars and Prophets Carl Medearis takes us through the basics of Islam exploring its similarities with Christianity and its differences. He explains that our western ideas of how things should work do not always apply in other cultures, using true stories from his time spent in Lebanon.

Carl has divided each chapter into two parts. The first is dedicated to what muslims believe. In order to avoid simply presenting his own idea of Islam, he has had a number of muslim scholars read what he has written and deem it accurate. In the second half of each chapter, Carl offers a proactive Christ-like response to the subject.

This is a great book for people concerned by what they hear in the media about Islam who want to read a balanced view on the subject. We live in a multicultural society and are increasingly likely to come into contact with muslims. This book aims to make the person of Jesus, whom both Christians and muslims respect, the focus of our conversations with muslim friends.
