Actually quite funny, with a lesson that kids will appreciate & relate to. Nobody nags Sally to clean her room, rather, she figures out how w/out authorities' influence. I like the slightly odd pictures, too.
Ok so I'm in a tiny indiana town called Lapel, with hubby. Waiting for the TOTAL Eclipse. (April 8, 2024) I sit on a bench and see a Little Free library!!! So I had to browse and found a kids book I had never read. I sat and read it to my husband. 🤭 He enjoyed it.
It's so cute! If you have children who won't clean thier rooms, this is perfect!!!
It's a very good way to make kids see in a funny way that messy rooms are bad and neat rooms are great.
I saved this book from my childhood because it was one of my favorite picture books, and finally got around to reading it with my own kids. They weren’t quite as impressed as I remember being, but still found it humorous. When Sally’s room can’t stand how messy it is anymore, they track her down in an attempt to be cleaned up. This leads to a traffic jam and plenty of strange looks as the school barges into Sally’s classroom. But the Room is in for a surprise when it gets a look at Sally’s desk. Will Sally and her room find a comfortable way to coexist?
The illustrations are not like any you’d see today. Full of 80s/90s nostalgia, so they are fun to look back on for sure!
Awesome and hilarious book!!! My son and I laughed the entire time reading this book. It told the story of a messy room in a linear story line. First Sally was unable to find things, then the messiness was brought to her attention, then she finally cleaned up.
The author used personification by assigning thinking, speaking, and walking characteristics to the items in the bedroom. The author creates humor when he generates the bedroom items to leave the room and go find Sally at school. Completely hilarious! The author also creates Sally to be a character who is content with her room at first and who is confident enough to stand up and say that in front of her class. Most importantly, the author creates the story on a relevant subject to many young kids who hate to clean their room.
Personification is a great tool that can be used to keep children’s attention. Relevance is also a great idea to keep children’s interest.
This is a fun book about a little girl who doesn't want to clean her room and can never find what she needs. I think most kids can relate to this because there have been times when all of us had messy rooms and couldn't find what we were looking for. This is fun to read with kids and the pictures are detailed and fun to look at.
I love this book, and I think children will too because of the talking room. This is a book I'd likely use before an activity that could be very messy. I'd use it before the activity because children tend to be reluctant to clean up afterwards. "Do YOU want our classroom showing up at YOUR house because you didn't keep it clean?"
