Darwin Porter, Danforth Prince'sThe Kennedys: All the Gossip Unfit for Print (Babylon) [Hardcover]2011

Rate this book
No other book in the history of publishing has assembled in one volume 80 years of pansexual scandals associated with the Kennedys-all in one guilty pleasure of a sizzling book. Meticulously researched, it showcases the indiscretions and extramarital romps of America's most famous political clan. In addition to lesser known and often shocking scandals about Jack (Mr. President), other parts of this pioneering page-turner are devoted to Bobby and Teddy, with extra space reserved for founding father Joseph P. Kennedy when he operated as a libidinous Hollywood mogul. Paparazzi cameras zoom in on that uber-goddess of all things glam, Jackie, documenting her many love affairs, which were matched only by America's Prince Charming, her son, John-John, a horny young man with a gleam in his eyes. The Kennedys is illustrated with hundreds of candid photographs.

There are no words that would be allowed here on GR to describe how awful this book is!!! Not sure who wrote the blurb for this but one thing this book isn't is "meticulously researched". Aside from huge inaccuracies and allegations not supported by any evidence, the obsession with everyone's sexual bents is vile. How this can be considered a work of non-fiction is an insult to anybody with even an ounce of scruples.
How it was even allowed to be published is beyond comprehension. Not even worth a 1/2 star rating. In hindsight I should have stopped reading at the very first page. Perhaps it should be re-shelved as Fiction/Fantasy!!!

I loved this book. Can't get enough on the Kennedy's. Of course gossip is the key word here. Much of it seemed quite believable though.

Jack Kennedy which much of the book concentrates on was really a man that most thought they knew so well but in reality would have been pretty shocked my his behavior.

Nothing is sadder than his death in Dallas of course and the book closes on this with some sad details on words surrounding the event.

It was his reckless womanizing though that was so much a key part of his life and how he did not seem to care much. He probably made Bill Clinton a choir boy in comparison. Different time different press. Yet according to the book his second term might have been made much rockier than the first as some of these serious scandals came to light.

A real page turner and long in content covering most of the clan outside of Caroline, but sure not much to report there.

I have to be honest I read and enjoyed this book but, and this is a big but, scandal and gossip is all very well but at some point it has to be based in some sort of fact - even a rumor has to start somewhere and there is absolutely no supporting information in terms of references or bibliographies for the most amusing and salacious stories. The fact that the Kennedys were not very nice people is well established, but this book is like very sugary, cheap candy, enjoyable but eventually boring after awhile. If one wants the dirt on the Kennedy family and its various members then there are far better and more reliable sources.

Piece of junk

This book reads like a bad compilation of tabloid gossip. There's no palpable proof of anything, the writing is terrible, the pages used to create sexual links between virtually everybody who was celebrity during JFK's lifetime. Don't waste your time.

Interesting read, moves along very smoothly

How much is true I wonder, but makes you want to read more and more, times when I feel it should be considered X rated but of course I did finish it and a times had problems putting it down

Ahahaha! What can I say? Totally trashy but some parts are believable. Which parts? Well that's like trying to figure out which parts of Chicken McNuggets are actually chicken. Did Grace Kelly really blow a bedridden JFK after one of his back surgeries? Maybe, she was known as a notorious bed-hopper in her Hollywood days and they had dated so who knows.

There's also a discussion reported between JFK and his dad about skater Sonja Henie's kegel muscles. Lol. Gross pigs. And Marlene Dietrich pulled off the hat trick of sexing up JFK, RFK and their papa. Wow. Such filth. I have to say, I love reading it. Written in the most salacious, ornery tone, it feels like your gay best friend filling you in on the details of your naughty neighbors. Sure beats Metamucil!

I thought this was going to be trash...but it is below that. After about 30 pages, I gave up in disgust. Most of it isn't even gossip...it's just ugly unfounded fiction. I wanted to take this book and thow it violently against the wall. Like the Kennedys or not...they don't derserve such a devestating punch. But...someone like it. It got a few good reviews at Amazon. I guess it takes all kind of people...
