Meditation: Achieving Inner Peace and Tranquility in Your Life

Rate this book
Meditation is a technique that can be used to experience peace, tranquility, and an inner beauty, leading us to rethink everything around us, even ourselves. It prompts us to trust in the ability we have to use and direct our energies to purify our bodies and minds...so that we can discover and develop our spirituality.

Brian Weiss, M.D., author of Many Lives, Many Masters, has written a very special book to help with the practice of meditation (a CD is also included to help guide you through the process). Meditation: Achieving Inner Peace and Tranquility in Your Life includes the techniques Dr. Weiss uses on his patients, many of whom have conquered insomnia anxiety, phobias, weight issues, and disease. Meditation can also lower blood pressure, strengthen the immunological system, and reduce stress.

As Dr. Weiss says, "It all starts by closing your eyes, relaxing our muscles, and showing down our breathing. Little bye little, we ask our minds to block out the clamoring voices that usually bombard it... This means living this moment intensely, letting go, and surrendering." This book is the first step on a more peaceful, relaxing journey through life.

As a traditional psychotherapist, Dr. Brian Weiss was astonished and skeptical when one of his patients began recalling past-life traumas that seemed to hold the key to her recurring nightmares and anxiety attacks. His skepticism was eroded, however, when she began to channel messages from "the space between lives," which contained remarkable revelations about Dr. Weiss's family and his dead son. Using past-life therapy, he was able to cure the patient and embark on a new, more meaningful phase of his own career.

A graduate of Columbia University and Yale Medical School, Brian L. Weiss M.D. is Chairman Emeritus of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami.

Dr. Weiss maintains a private practice in Miami. In addition, Dr. Weiss conducts national and international seminars and experiential workshops as well as training programs for professionals.

The book was nice but I really like the CD. It is sometimes difficult to quiet the noise in my head when meditating. I find the guided meditation included with the book helpful.

Big things come in small packages

Merely believing that we are spiritual beings beyond the limits of time and space heals and soothes. Thank you Dr. Weiss for making us see ourselves from this perspective.

This concise guided meditation book holds the key to a limitless expanse of bliss.

The section on spiritual connection is most interesting. I don’t know that he added anything more than I already knew, but it did renew my interest in trying to meditate some (and his audio meditation is on YouTube so that’s helpful since my library ebook didn’t include it and only had a transcript).

Bastante flojo.

It is what it says on the tin, an on-point introduction to meditation. Although I am not new to the topic, I enjoyed reading this snippet. I bought this book primarily for the CD but I also think it'll be a great reminder on my shelf, something to come back to, whenever I have a falling-out with my meditation practice.

The book is a mere excuse for the CD which is great as a basic meditation exercise if you are planning on trying some meditation by yourself. Book doesn’t offer anything new from his other books that I highly recommend.

I found this on the side of the road. It did not have the CD with it but it was relatively short. If I had to break it down, I'd call it 15% solid advice on how to relax and 85% woo. Not my cup of tea by a long shot, but if it helps you, great I guess.
