Very good book and possibly my favorite of the three. Jonathan is introduced in Shadow of the Hawk, as the man that Hawk had been unable to save. At the beginning of this one we see what happened to him and the effect it has on others' lives.
Jonathan loves his wife and daughter and when his life ends prematurely he begs for it to be restored. The guardian angel who was in charge was new to the job and made a mistake when she snatched him. In trying to remedy the error, she messes up again. Fast forward five years and things are about to get really strange.
Emma Ramsey has spent the last five years raising her daughter and running LadyTech, the software company she owns with two friends. She has never given up hope that her husband is still alive. A chance encounter with a man gives her renewed optimism that Jonathan is out there somewhere.
Drew Gallagher is a PI working on the case of a child molester. He spots the man at a museum, just as he lures a little girl away from her school group. He steps in to get the girl away, and in the process meets her mother, Emma. Something about the woman seems familiar, but he doesn't know why. Drew has no memory of his life past five years ago, when he woke up in a hospital recovery from injuries received in an explosion. He's determined to get to know Emma and figure out the connection.
Emma is leaving the museum when she is grabbed by a man who says he knows where her husband is and will tell her for $25,000. But before she can get more details, he is taken by the stranger from the museum. When she explains why the man had stopped her, Drew offers to find out more for her. Not being a very trusting person, Emma is wary, but desperate for information. And there is something about Drew that tells her she can trust him.
Drew discovers a connection between the man with the information and a shadowy figure who is trying to buy up shares of Emma's company. As he delves deeper into his investigation, he starts to get a really bad feeling about who is behind it. He is determined to keep Emma and her daughter safe, even at the risk of his own life.
The connection between Drew and Emma is immediate, but Emma fights it. She is still in love with her husband and loyal to his memory. She doesn't understand why she is so quick to trust Drew and allow him into her life and her daughter's. But his kindness and gentleness fill a void in her life and she finds herself growing closer to him. Drew is quick to fall for her, but knows that he has no chance with her, since she still loves her husband. Because he wants her happy, he will do his best to find Jonathan and then he will bow out of her life. Fate has other ideas, and I really liked seeing the way that Emma's trust and growing feelings have her turning more and more to Drew.
The suspense of the story is fantastic. I loved seeing Drew use his talents to help Emma, both with the search and with what is happening in her company. His early encounters with Brodie, the security man for the company and one of Jonathan's friends, were pretty amusing. As Drew uncovered more information, the intensity grew. I liked seeing the way that Jonathan's old team came together when it came time for the rescue mission, and how it was Drew who was the leader. As the rescue and its aftermath played out, more questions were raised than answered. Though it's obvious to the reader what happened, the people in question have a harder time with it. The conclusion was gripping, and I couldn't wait to see how it all worked out. I loved how it was done.
Emma's daughter Kerry was a huge part of the story, from her part in bringing Drew and Emma together, to the "imaginary friend" that seemed to be directing her actions. She was a sweet kid, center of her mother's world, but also determined when she was trying to make a point. Her quick acceptance of Drew puzzled Emma, especially Kerry's insistence on who Drew was. I loved Kerry's conversations with her "friend" and their frustration when the adults wouldn't pay attention to what she was trying to tell them.

When an angel trying to earn her wings makes a devastating mistake, she tries to rectify the situation but ends up making an even bigger mistake when she tries to fix things.
Drew Gallagher has no idea who he is. He refashions himself after his favorite fictional detective, as he works as a private investigator. He does the best he can to get through the day while trying to remember who he was. What I liked about Drew was his center of inate goodness. Even when he didn't think he had much to offer, he always did what he felt was right, even though it meant he could be the one left behind.
Emma was a hard nut to crack! A bad childhood and losing the love of her life has Emma shoring up her defenses against potential emotional attachments besides her daughter and her two best friends. Until Drew. With his scruffy demeanor and straightforward wit, Drew manages to loosen Emma up just enough to discover a passionately intelligent woman with a backbone of strength.
I'm a sucker for second chance romances-soulmates to boot-and Always Faithful became a favorite the minute I read the prologue! I love the concept of soulmates and this story was the perfect blend of romance and intrigue! Even though I knew early on what was going to happen, I couldn't resist reading on to find out if the ending would be what I hoped for!
Book #3 in the Lady Tech series, Always Faithful can easily be read as a standalone. I would happily recommend this series to anyone who likes fantasy romance. The heat level is tame, the romance sweet, and the story is well worth reading!

"Always Faithful" by Julie Miller is the delightful reissue of a title released more than a decade ago which has been updated and refreshed. This yummy romantic suspense story mixes a bit of the arcane with an exciting story featuring military heroes and features a lovely but lonely woman named Emma Ramsey whose unwavering faith in her missing husband is rewarded but not quite the way she expected. A guardian angel who is learning the ropes, a fateful encounter in a dangerous jungle, and a man who patterns his behavior after a fictional detective all combine to significantly change the life of a woman who has devoted her life to raising her daughter and searching for her missing husband.

This exciting romantic suspense title has a great combination of action and romance that keeps the reader invested in the story. One cannot help but admire the woman who has kept her heroic husband in her heart even as she has rebuilt her life without him and the description of her conflicted attraction to the mysterious man who appears in her life is enthralling. The unfolding of the tale is somewhat predictable but very enjoyable and I adored the daughter Kerry and her interactions with the frustratingly obtuse adults around her. This was an enjoyable read and a wonderful tale about one of the impressive women who make up the LadyTech company, I definitely want to read the stories that center around the others.

Having no memories before he woke up in a hospital 5 years ago and plagued with hellish nightmares, the hero is stunned when he lays eyes on the heroine. She feels like coming home and he has no idea why but he will do anything and everything to be close to her. He first saw her when he saves her daughter from an abduction and later when he steals a disk off that man and brings it to her in hopes that he holds information regarding her missing husband. He may not be the most honest of men, and he knows he lives his life skating the boundaries of the law and breaking it, but he wants to be a better man. The heroine grew up under the rule of an abusive father so for most of her life she was distrustful of men and she still hold tight reins over her emotions. But when she married her husband she finally felt safe and loved. So when he went missing 5 years ago the heartbreak was almost unbearable. Now she has a chance to get him back. The P.I. who sparks something in her that she doesn't understand and scares her, is the key to getting Jonathon back. Though she finds herself trusting him more deeply and faster than any man she's ever known, it doesn't change the fact that he's a mystery and there are so many things he keeps hidden from her. Regardless, she hires him to first of all protect her when she and her company become a target as well as finding and bring home her husband. The hero just wants the heroine and her beautiful daughter happy. He becomes enraptured with the stunning woman and instantly falls in love with her daughter who talks to angels and calls him daddy. He'll do anything to see them safe and happy even if it means finding the man who will replace him. Even if he has his doubts that the husband isn't in fact the villain responsible for the heroine's endangerment. All the while he begins to have more frequent and more violent nightmares of the jungle and he begins to hear voices and he begins to fear that he himself was not a good man. But he does what he promised, he brings the husband back. At first the heroine is elated. Then she sees that the man who looks so much like her husband is no longer the man she married. He his cruel, aggressive and reminds her too much of her father. And her daughter is deathly afraid of him, pleading for the hero instead. This confusion and grief chases her back into the hero's' arms. She realizes that she's fallen in love with the tormented and lonely man who is so misunderstood but is the only man she can trust. While the husband turns out to be the man suspected of him and the truth is relieved about what happened in that jungle 5 years ago the hero will do everything to save his family.
Even though I quickly figured out the big secret about the hero's true identity as well as the husbands, I enjoyed the creative plotline. I adored the hero. He was so tormented and lonely and the scenes of him interacting with the daughter were so sweet and the scenes of him drinking alone in his apartment were so sad. I felt such a connection to him and to his soul. He was truly a great man. I liked the heroine. She was grieving her husband even knowing that he wasn't dead and the struggle to understand her feelings her the hero was honest and believable. What would you do if your loved and lost your husband only to meet and feel that connection with another man? And when your husband returned completely altered, wouldn't you seek out the man who offered you safety and love? I enjoyed this book immensely much to my surprise. I've only read one other book from the author and to my memory I didn't much care for it. But now I'm doubting myself and given the chance I will go back and reread that book.

A Fabulous Story
Julie Miller takes a departure from her straight romantic suspense to throw in a paranormal twist in the guise of a fumbling guardian angel to a taught, suspenseful romance. 5 big stars for this lovely, inspiring story.
Two men face off in a jungle, one Col Ramsey. The other a faceless International terrorist known as the chameleon. There's an explosion, and a mix up. The men end up swapping bodies.
Drew Gallagher is a man with no past beyond the 5 years since he woke up in a field hospital in the Caribbean, only nightmares of an explosion. He's made a home in Kansas City because he felt drawn to the city. Emma Ramsey has never stopped believing in the return of her missing husband as she raises their daughter, Kerry, now 7 years old. Drew and Emma's paths cross when a desperate criminal sets his sights on Emma's husband and she hires detective, Drew to help her find him. Drew quickly realizes there's more to the mystery of the missing Col Ramsey than anyone thought. Where's he been? Why are their rumors of his resurfacing now?
Kerry has a friend only she can see, Faith, who guides her. Kerry the more time they spend together. Kerry is convinced Drew is her daddy. Emma doesn't know what to think but she finds so much of Drew that reminds her of what she loved about her husband.
A tail of love and faith in the impossible, Always Faithful is an enjoyable read. Note, its also sexier than Ms. Miller's regular romantic suspense.

I likes this one the best of all 3 so far. I did have it figured out right away as to what happened and what was going to happen. I still enjoyed it. I have to say that Hawk is still my favorite character in the series. I do hope that there will be more to the series.

This was a fabulous read, and such a great surprise. I'm giving it 5 stars not because it Julie Miller but because it's such a good read and not of her usual genre. I absolutely hope we get more books, it's amazing!
