A book is not only a text written on several pages binded together, this is the best way to convey ideas. I do not like at all the ideas transmitted by this author.
---------------------------
Frankly, I always say that I love hardcore BDSM stories, but I struggled to finish reading this story.
This is the story of Christopher, a young Californian(19 years), sold into slavery for his whole life by his own father.
Through the eyes of Todd, Christopher's lifelong friend, we see the police and the new owner arriving at Christopher's place, while the young man is not aware of anything. His father did not inform his son of the sale. Christopher joyfully welcomes his friend Todd, who came to attend the sale and the beginning of the enslavement of his friend. But Christopher's happiness does not last long.
The author describes in a great deal of detail all the cruelties inflicted on Christopher, renamed Licker (his slave name), from the very first moments of his enslavement (and even before the contract is signed) and throughout the day of his transportation to a processing station for his transformation where he is suspended by a hook to a rail like a piece of meat at the butcher.
"Christopher, you’re going to get trussed, trollied, collared, clipped, shorn, shaved, tagged, belled, cinched, tattooed, and branded, as well as ringed in the nipples, nose, ears, penis, and at the base of the scrotum."

And all this is just the beginning (first hours) and the least of what Christopher has to suffer.
The author has a lot of imagination to what are torture equipments and implements, and a large number are employed all along the story. He has also a great deal of imagination of ways of humiliation.
What sickened me the most about this book is that the author seems to think that it is extremely funny, even hilarious, all the abuse suffered by Christopher. All the characters in the story don't stop exclaiming "Wow, cool man!" each time Christopher suffers another torture and to laugh each time he is humiliated.
"The sight of five waddling slaves duck walking was kind of funny. It made them look like cartoon characters.
We could hear the jingle jangle of his dong bell as we walked away. It was very funny! Of course, we were still within earshot when we laughed, and I knew that Licker could hear us."

And even Dexter, Christopher's brother, is very glad that his President of the class brother is so toroughly abused.
...getting no reaction from anyone, didn’t stop Dexter. "Look at yourself, Licker! What a total dork loser you are, bro! All dressed up in your new wardrobe and ready for your new life long job!"

Only Todd was reluctant at first, but he ends up being worse than the worst slaves' supervisors. He even becomes one of them at the Baldwin's Farm.
At the very end of the story, Todd invites all his and Christopher's old friends at a party during which Christopher will be humiliated and mistreated by everyone. One of Christopher's old friends even says that it is a "good way to renew their friendship with Christopher" while he is laughing out loud and going on torturing and humiliating his "friend" Christopher.
The only thing that redeems a little this story is that at the very end, Christopher succeeds to escape and Todd becomes a slave to pay the Baldwins for the loss of their beautiful "cattle".
If at least the author had divided the story in two parts, first: Christopher's enslavement, second: Todd's enslavement, I could have like this story better. Because Todd, this false friend, this son of a bitch, deserved his misadventure.
If the author wanted to make his story an argument against slavery, he was very successful, because nobody wants to live what happened to Christopher nor wants any human being to live such a horror.
I gave one star because of that ending and because I saw only one English mistake.

Warning: If you are looking for M/M romance, forget this book. If you are looking for a nice story with a little D/s and BDSM, forget it too. This book may appeal to the worst sadists and masochists who don't care at all about consensuality.

I read this with a horrified fascination at how appalling the writing and "characterization" was. The writing isn't grammatically incorrect, but it's a fascinating study in how to make acts non-erotic and dialogue sound like it has been written by a 1st grader. A salient lesson that plot is the tiniest part of a writers' craft.

Presumably it was conceived solely to facilitate a one-handed read, and the author can be happy that there are people out there with such low thresholds for arousal that the theme of slavery alone means zie succeeded. Probably. Maybe.

It's a poorly-conceived, boring, not-hot, big ol' mess.

Ouch ! What could I tell? If Randall Austin is aroused by this sort of things, he certainly is extremely sadistic or masochistic. Much more than me anyway.

O.K. It's just a fantasy. Nothing in it is real, but I had a hard time reading it anyway.

So if you like very hardcore SM, it's your stuff. On the contrary, forget this story.
