Elizabeth Will thinks her life is on a fairly even keel, for once. It's summer in the small coastal town of Dovekey, New Hampshire, and she can paint, run her art gallery, and even get in some fishing with her curmudgeonly father. The only cloud on the horizon is the current battle between land preservationists and progressives, who want to legalize gambling and prostitution to improve the town's shaky economy. The debate pits Elizabeth squarely against her father, who resists all change and, in any event, loves a good fight. But when a prolegalization town council member is murdered, and Elizabeth's dad is the prime suspect, she and her friend Ginny Philbrick, Chief of Police, must clear his name and find the real culprit.
