شیوه ی مطالعات ادبیات انگلیسی، کتابی در موضوع نحوه ی خوانش درست متون شعر و نثر و نمایشنامه و رمان است. برای خوانندۀ ایرانی دانستن نکات مندرج در این کتاب بسیار کارگشا خواهد بود. به شخصه در مورد قرائت ها و خوانش هایی که نویسنده از داستان ها و نمایشنامه های مشهوری چون غرور و تعصب، بلندی های بادگیر ، رومئو و ژولیت و هملت شکسپیر داشت، لذت بردم و آموختم
بخش های پایانی این کتاب در شیوۀ نوشتن یک مقاله در این موضوعاتی این چنینی ست که برای دانشجویان و اهل تحقیق مفید فایده خواهد بود.

When i picked up the book in the school's library i thought it could be something aimed at giving inspiration to the learning of literature. Well, not even close! A rigid how-to book with a focus on steps rather than evoking something else in a curious mind over literature. But it is not that disappointing. As it literally says of itself, it is helpful for students who begin STUDYING English literature (rather than ENJOYING more). Would be best for those who mostly care about finishing their essays at school.

A thoroughly pragmatic book about how to approach the study of literature. Marsh argues that a theme is a subject an author culls from ordinary life, and then moves through character, structure, imagery, and irony.

I judge books like this by two criteria:
1. Do I want to do test the propositions out when I put down the book?
2. Do the propositions yield fruit?

The answer to both was yes.

کتابی که من خواندم، چاپ اول بود و پر از غلط ویرایشی.‏ در ضمن، به نظرم مخاطب این کتاب باید "دانش آموز"انی باشند که نیاز به نوشتن انشا در قالبهای سنتی دارند. نه کس دیگری.‏
برای من نه جالب بود و نه اطلاعات جدیدی داشت.‏

خیلی جالب بود و لذت بردم. مطالب پایه ای و اصلی رو خیلی روان توضیح داده بود و مثال ها رو می‌شد به راحتی یاد گرفت. البته فقط مطالب کلی رو شامل میشه و وارد جزئیات نمیشه.
+ یه اتفاقی هم که افتاد کاغذهاش کیفیتش خیلی خوب بود. چون چاپ ۱۳۸۹ بود. دلم تنگ شد برای اون زمان که کتاب ها و دفتر ها با کاغذهای با کیفیت داشتیم تنگ شد 😅🥲🚶🏻‍♀️

در یک شعر کوتاه هیچ حادثه، شخصیت یا مکانی وجود ندارد و وقتی برای اولین بار آن را می‌خوانید، با هیچ واقعه‌ی روزمره‌ی زندگی مواجه نمی‌شوید که بتوان به آن تمسک جست.

در عوض، شعر به بخشی یا بحرانی از میانه‌ی داستان شباهت دارد. در نظر گرفتن اشعار بدین شکل می‌تواند راهگشا باشد.

وقتی شعری می‌خوانید، سعی کنید نوعی بحران یا حادثه‌ی ناگهانی که توازن زندگی روزمره را به هم می‌زند، بیابید. این شروع خوبی برای درک شعر است.

Extremely helpful with new and effective approaches to understanding difficult poems, essays and with looking at novels in a new and closer detail. Easy to apply techniques. Best literature guide I've read and it has been immense help to me with my literature school work.
