A priceless diamond wedding band was just stolen from Pierre Delacroix’s french bakery.
He knows Sienna Monroe is just an amateur sleuth, yet she recently solved the mystery of poisoned chocolate in her own sweet shop. He seeks her help to find the ring.
Sienna had hoped for a cool quiet summer after her recent move from California to Tennessee, but this mystery, and this summer, was anything but quiet or cool.
Her latest case is puzzling, and draining, due to a record high heat wave…and heated tension with a new obstinate detective on the local police force.
Sienna won’t quit until she solves this mystery, but the heat is turned up as her suspect list grows, to include the new police detective, and two of own employees!
In author Stella Dorn’s Baked and Alive, widow Sienna Monroe has moved from the crazy, busy streets of L.A. to small-town Tennessee, now running her own bakery. Her husband had been an LAPD detective for 20 years, so that plus her own forensics degree…well, she’s picked up a thing or two over the years and is quite the amateur sleuth. Pierre, the owner/baker at the French bakery down the block, approaches Sienna one day for help. There’s been a robbery at his store, and the police don’t seem too interested. Sienna starts to investigate, weaving and twisting her way through a myriad of suspects. But who did it, and why? I so enjoyed this cozy mystery, and am hopeful Sienna will star in a third cozy (go back and check out book one, Suspected Ingredient!). I received a complimentary copy of this book, but my opinion is entirely my own.
Having come off of the case of the poison croissant, Sienna's competitor bakery owner, Pierre Delacroix comes to Sienna and begs her to help him. It seems his late wife's wedding ring is stolen along with some money and a laptop. The new detective in town, Winchester, doesn't seem very willing to investigate it or he is incompetent. Either way, Sienna gives in and with her crew of friends investigates what turns out to be very involved with lots of suspects, including one of her employees. With lots of red-herrings and twists and turns and we are taken to a surprise ending. This is a fun series so far and I can't wait for more. I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Sienna Monroe is known to be an amateur sleuth. When her husband dies, she moves to Tennessee. Looking forward to a quiet summer, she is busy in her sweet shop when the owner of the shop next door comes in telling her about the robbery that took place in his store and requesting her assistance in finding a stolen wedding ring. The is very special to him since it belonged to his deceased wife. Sienna decides to help Pierre. With her background in forensic science, join Sienna as she gathers the evidence. With help with friends, she gets closer to the culprit. There were plenty of twists and turns with the investigation. This was an enjoyable read having a nice plot with great lively characters. I received a free copy of this book via BookFunnel and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Sienna Monroe gets a threatening letter at her husband Jack’s funeral. He had been working with the LAPD and had been murdered. Pierre Delacroix comes to her bakery wanting help to find his laptop, his wife’s diamond wedding ring and some cash stolen from his desk in his office. Amanda working in his office had a video .Sienna uses her skills which she had learnt from her husband and with the help of her friend Aurelia is able to solve the case. She had to deal with officer Winchester who was her nemesis .A lot of mayhem and excitement to make this a great read .I received this book free and leave a honest review. I recommend this book to other readers.
Bakery based cozy Widow Sienna Monroe has relocated and started a bakery in a new town after the death of her detective husband. It’s known in her neighborhood that she has a knack for figuring things out and has been approached by a fellow baker. He has a mystery he would like her to solve as it isn’t a high priority for the police. She follows the clues, and is shocked by who the police suspect. She gets together with friends and works it out and is even more shocked by who the perpetrator is. Nicely done and quick moving. I received and ARC gratis to peruse and offer my my opinion in the same.
After competitor turned frenemy Pierre Delacroix helped Sierra Monroe when she arrived in town on the previous case of the poisoned croissant, it is now her turn to help him when a robbery results in the loss of his late wife's wedding ring.
When another of her employee ends up being framed for the robbery, she is determined more than ever to reveal who is behind it and surprised by what the motive ends up being. Will these frenemies become friends by the end of this?

My first booked in the Sierra Monroe series was a pleasant trip down cozy mystery lane. There was much interesting interaction between the main characters as our intrepid amateur sleuth tries to help her neighbor sove a mysterious robbery. The story spans several weeks and is well plotted out. Much of the history of our main character is explained and while she is an amateur detective she is also a trained forensic investigator. The supporting characters are interesting and I look forward to reading more about these people in future books.
She owns a bakery - and a male friend owns another one He’s robbed - of his wife’s wedding ring. And because her husband had been a police officer, he asked her for help. The police are doing NOTHING. So she goes to the station and offers her help - she has a good history of helping her husband . . . but the new police chief shuts her down. THIS IS A SUPERB WHODUNIT BOOK. It will keep you guessing until the end!!!! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All thoughts and comments are my own.
What started as a theft quickly blossomed into something else entirely. Sienna (the protagonist) was asked by her bakery's competitor to help solve a robbery and recover some missing merchandise; but instead of having her assistance welcomed by the police department, she was shunned. What changed from her first case in the city, and why? The answers to these questions may have as much to do with the robbery as they do with her reception by the police. I won't ruin the plot, you'll need to read the book to find out more.
Stella Dorn has a great new series on her hands. Baked & Alive is a very intriguing mystery. She begins with wonderful characters that draw you in and let you think this a simple little cozy mystery, but there is so much more to this story than that. I suggest, if you can, that you go to BookFunnel and get your free copy of Suspected Ingredient, the beginnings of the Sienna Monroe Mysteries, and then quickly follow it up by reading this book and all that follow.

Sienna is back to help catch a thief This was a cute cozy that finds Sienna, the wife of a slain LAPD officer, continuing her bakery in Tennessee and helping solve another mystery. This time a thief has targeted the other bakery in town and its owner, Pierre, has asked for her assistance. I suggest reading the prequel (Suspected Ingredient) for some backstory and character development. I did like the story, and will continue reading the series; however, there were times when I had to stop and re-read the text to determine what the author was trying to say.
A wedding diamond band mysteriously disappears from a French bakery shop. As amateur sleuth Stella is asked to solve the case. Her only experience she has was the recent solving the case of the poison chocolate which involved her shop as a person was killed.
It’s in the middle of summer as things heat up in this quick paced read. Will she be able to solve this quickly before the chocolate melts?
Author gave me an ARC copy of this book to read and review. Sienna is the widow of an LAPD detective. When he died she needed a change in her life so she moved to South Carolina and opened a bakery. She has a nack for solving crimes so she has been asked to help find a ring that was stolen. Story is kind of slow till I got to Chapter 6. I was up late at night reading so I could finish and find out who the thief was.
I received a copy from the author. Sienna is a cop's widow who runs a bakery in a small town. Her rival bakery is owned by Pierre, a Frenchman who lost his wife. They are friendly rivals. Pierre asks Sienna to help find out who stole his computer and his wife's wedding ring as it's all he has left of her. Sienna has a knack for solving mysteries and the local cops aren't interested. This book is full of fun characters and a twisty mystery. Can't wait for the next book in this series.
A truly cozy mystery, I was given this as an ARC in return for an honest review. I enjoyed working out whodunnit along with the lead character and her friends. I’m now reading the novella which gives some interesting backstory to the characters. Some of this is referred to in Baked and Alive, so if you have the chance I’d read suspected ingredient first. Oh and be prepared to crave some sweet treats this is set in a bakery after all 😉
Even though Sienna and Pierre are frenemies, he comes to her when he needs help because he was robbed and the police don’t seem interested in solving it. A great cast of characters and quite a few possible suspects. Wonderful small town setting, well paced plot. I loved it all! I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
I only found this series after getting book 10 as an Advanced Reader copy and I felt I needed to start from the beginning. I enjoyed the story very much. I would have given it 5 stars but I kept feeling like there were too many missing pieces. Thankfully there is a prequel novella that will explain all the back story. I just felt that a little more clarity was warranted this time.
Book One of the series has Sienna assisting her main competitor in town to solve a theft. With very little evidence to work with it seems the theft will remain unsolved until a terrible miscarriage of justice puts Sienna’s employee, Sapphire, under arrest.
The careful process that Sienna follows and the piecing together of new and old evidence is smartly written. Sienna is a great character and I expect this series will continue to be very interesting.
Enjoyable cozy mystery! This is the first of this author that I’ve read and I have to say I really enjoyed it. The story was intriguing and I liked the characters. This was a great escape from the real world. I will definitely be checking out more from this author and hopefully more of Sienna Monroe!
Pierre and Sienna are frienemies from opposite ends of the town square. Pierre has come reluctantly to Sienna for help to retrieve his late wife's wedding ring. There is a new Dective Sargent in town that seems to have a permanent hate on to Sienna. You will suspect who the villain is and are happy when he gets busted. Excellent story, and looking forward to the next.
I liked the characters, the setting and methodology of solving the mystery. Many threads were wrapped up by the end of the book. I will read more by this author.
This is the second book in a series and can be read as a stand alone. It’s a quick read , read it in a day. It’s a fun cozy mystery read that revolves around a bakery which I like.
The writing is very simple but it’s a cute read
I reviewed a free copy from the author and all opinions are my own
I like books to be informative, entertaining and thought provoking, this book does all that and more. I laughed at the characters, worried with them and just plain got drawn into the book . I highly recommend this book.
Good mystery. The clues were flying, and Sienna was great at following them. This mystery was well crafted and very enjoyable. The small-town feeling was incorporated into the story, which made the mystery even better. Highly recommend this mystery to all readers.
Baked Alive with Sienna Monrroe is a very entertainomg and en enjoyable read. I did not read the first book but was able to follow the story line very easily and happy to see that Sienna was able to come up with the answer even thogh it was not so simple . I did not see that coming.
A baker with a forensic degree, police widow, case success rate high, who wouldn’t want her on your side. Seems like someone doesn’t. This is fun, humor, mystery with a touch of danger. What not to like. I can’t wait for her next case.
This is another very good cozy mystery Sienna is able to solve another mystery this time a robbery. The characters are smart and they trust Sienna. In the end the right person is caught Enjoyable read
This cozy mystery hooked me from the beginning! I loved the characters. But there were quite a few spelling mistakes that should have been caught by the proofreader. I recommend this book to everyone.
BAKED & ALIVE is the first installment in the A Sienna Monroe Cozy Mystery series written by Stella Dorn. This was an enjoyable read having a nice plot with great lively characters. With having lots of red-herrings and twists and turns and we are taken to a surprise ending. This is a fun series so far and I can't wait for more. I received an advanced reader copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have never heard about this author before reading this book! I have been entirely engrossed in the story and quite intrigued by the facts of the story! It's a wonderful read and I highly recommend it to any who love reading about a good sleuth!!
