October Manning is your normal, everyday, run-of-the-mill undertaker. Oh, right, except for the fact that she sees ghosts. Honestly, she prefers most of them to people. They don’t judge her or think she’s crazy.
Wilder Davis doesn’t know how much more loss he can take when his mother dies. But somehow the undertaker, of all people, makes him feel whole again.
His broken heart isn’t looking for love, and he isn’t prepared for what he gets with October. She’s just looking for friendship and isn’t prepared for what she gets with Wilder.
Can the ghosts of their pasts bring them together, or will they tear them apart?
For fans of Nicholas Sparks, and Sarah Addison Allen, October's Ghosts is a closed-door romantic comedy, part of the Calendar Girls standalone series. They do not need to be read in order. The series has mild swearing, and some premarital, closed-door intimate scenes.
October's Ghosts is Halloween themed and as such more paranormal than the other Calendar Girls books.
I really hate writing these in third person. So hey! I'm Stephanie. I have all kinds of books including post-apocalyptic, dystopian, and paranormal romance. This is my first venture into clean rom-com, and I gotta tell ya, I loved it. I have 12 books planned for the Calendar Girls standalone series, so buckle up, buttercups! It's gonna be a fun ride, and I do hope you'll join me!
What else do you want to know? My husband can usually be found sailing the skies as an airline captain, and my daughter is TEN now (::commence sobbing at the cruel passage of time::)!
I love to connect with readers, so please reach out any time! With nice things of course. Please don't troll me LOL. I have kindof a sharp tongue and little restraint when provoked. It's not cute.
The Calendar Girls series by Stephanie Erickson has quickly become a favorite of mine, so diving into October’s Ghosts this month was a perfect match! This installment follows October, an undertaker who has a unique connection to ghosts—who she actually prefers over people, given they don’t judge or question her sanity. Then there’s Wilder, grappling with loss after his mother’s passing; being around October makes him feel whole in a way he hadn’t expected. Their story is a heartwarming tale of unexpected friendship and love, filled with endearing ghosts and soft, sweet moments. This book leans a bit more into the paranormal than others in the series, and we even get a charming revisit with Will and June from the previous story. It’s mostly closed-door, with one brief moment, and altogether makes for a delightful read for spooky season!
First off this book deserves more then five Steaks/Stars. I love, love October she is awesome. I really thought I already posted my review for this amazing book already. Finished it well back in October. Ha
Anyhow we meet October in this book whom is very unsure of herself and has great reasons as to why. She talks to the dead. And works at a funeral home. So of course she feels everyone looks at her differently, I mean she doesn't tell anyone about her talking with the dead nor that her father who passed away 10 years ago is still around. But you definitely understand how she feels right away, with not having any friends, well one friend. Then someone passes away whom she knew and that spirit is very dead set on October helping her son deal with her passing and being there for him.
Now October thinks okay fine one time I will do this and be done. But what she doesn't bargain for she another spirit who is very angry and doesn't want anyone near said son.
Wilder feels like everything is lost now that his mother has passed, but what he finds is a friend who listens to him and let's him be him. If only he could figure out why he is so drawn to October and find out why she wants to run from him before they even start. But with the help of October's new friend Joey can they prove to her that some people are really okay with who she really is and won't run away from her friendship? I enjoyed how Will and June were brought up in this book and we got a glimpse of how things are going with them and Will's dad. Looking forward to reading about March in 2024.
I absolutely loved and enjoyed this story! A wonderful mix of paranormal and rom com. What's not to love with a female undertaker who can see ghosts. Add in the ghost of her father who has stayed to help from the other side. After the death of a friend, she meets Wilder who she's drawn to in his grief along with the teenage ghost that clings to him. October and Wilder find themselves and each other through some ups and downs and laughs along the way. There is even a cameo from Will and June from the first book in the series. Enjoy!
The second in the Calendar Girls series, October is a funeral director who sees and interacts with ghosts, including that of her father who passed ten years earlier and “helps’ run the funeral home. In fact, October is more comfortable interacting with ghosts than she is with the living – until Wilder, son of one of the deceased, comes along. This is a fun, well-paced witty paranormal rom com recommended for anyone who enjoys a quick clean but engaging read. Although this is the second in a series and two of the characters in the first make a cameo appearance, the story stands on its own.
October is an undertaker and can see ghosts. She’s the weird girl in town and has no friends. Mrs. David, her most recently departed client, wants her to befriend her son in his time of grieving. They hit it off but there are some obstacles in their way. Mainly his deceased ex girlfriend that hovers over him like a dark cloud.
This was a cute and cozy read. Perfect for anyone who likes clean romance. While I don’t mind clean romances the ones I have read, including this one, are incredibly cheesy and overly fluffy. Personally it takes away from the story and makes them feel disingenuous.
This was just ok. I would recommend as a Fall read to those who prefer clean romance though.
This was a fun, cute and ghostly story. October is an owner of a mortuary that sees ghosts. Wilder has a ghost the will not leave him alone. Their deceased parents ghosts are there to root them on. A nice relationship develops but Wilders ghost ex-girlfriend's anger may ruin everything. A story of letting go and everlasting love.
I was lucky enough to read a pre-published edition - the book will be out in October. I enjoyed it so much! The paranormal piece is super believable, and this author really has a way with witty dialogue. I highly recommend!
This was such a cute book. I love how everything developed and how the relationships between October and the ghost form. I also like how there's a part where there's a lowkey breakup, but they both noticed they needed each other it was sweet.
The premise is fun, a romantic comedy with an undertaker named October who can see ghosts and helps them to move on, falls in love with the son of one of her ghost clients. This was a random pick up from a used shelf at the library and just fell flat for me 🤷🏽♀️.
