Eugene Sledge was a Marine rifleman in the First Division through Peleliu and Okinawa, as detailed in his Memoir With The Old Breed, arguably the finest combat memoir to emerge from the Pacific in WWII. China Marine completes that story with an account of his further experiences aas a garrison Marine in China, and then his demobilization and return to civilian life. This is an enduring classic that deserves to be widely read and remembered.
