The year is 1993, and the annual Crowford Carnival is about to take place. As usual, a visiting funfair arrives and sets up on the seafront, offering brightly-lit rides and stalls for all the residents. But does something sinister lurk in the shadows beyond the reach of the lights?
Every year, Andy Lannigan arrives with the funfair and visits the girl he loves. This time, however, he discovers that tragedy has struck. Paula is dead, having been found murdered on the beach during the winter, but the circumstances of her death remain a mystery. Andy always dreamed of leaving the funfair and settling down with Paula in Crowford. Now, however, he finds himself consumed by the need to find her killer.
Soon, Andy teams up with Paula's friends in a desperate battle to uncover the truth. As the carnival draws closer, is a deadly force about to strike again?
The Terror of Crowford Carnival is the fifteenth book in the Ghosts of Crowford series. Each book tells a standalone story, and they can be read in any order.
Amy Cross writes novels and short stories in a number of genres, mainly horror, paranormal and fantasy. Books include The Farm, Annie's Room, The Island, Eli's Town and Asylum.
What I appreciate about the "Ghosts of Crowford" series is that each story is unique in its own way and the "Terror of Crowford Carnival" was no exception. This episode was a (ghostly) murder mystery with a satisfying and unexpected ending. Whilst not the best Crowford story it did maintain the series momentum and firmly established Crowford as the most haunted town in England. Bring on episode 16!
Technically wasn't a ghost of the carnival but still a ghost story. And really wasn't terror of the carnival either. There was a ghost of a dead girl brutally murdered trying to tell her friends who killed her. And the butcher ghost who was summoned against his will by a crazy women. This book was ok not great but happy there is a 16th book coming.

The Ghosts of Crowford series is one of my favorites by this author! Each story is a standalone book, but when reading the series it’s even better. This story is about young love and to what extent it will go. Andy a carnival worker meets his love of his life at the pier every. Year. This year she fails to come.
Not exactly quality reading, but an entertaining story. Couldn't put it down! One slightly annoying issue: these Crowford books are set in England but the dialogue seems very American-influenced, using expressions and words that we don't really say here. Still, that's a fairly minor issue and, as I always say in these reviews, the book doesn't pretend to be a literary masterpiece.
I read the previous 14 volumes in the Crowford series. While #15 is a decent story, there is nothing that makes it stand out. I do appreciate how Cross throws in occasional humor into the ghost hunt.
Another fan read from Amy, I thought Jack the Ripper was a royal! But that was pretty believable! Poor Paula I'm sure that she will eventually get peace.
