2. Does this story or its characters remind you of another story you have read? Does it remind you of a movie? How are they alike? And how are they different? Yes, it does. I read Deception Point of Dan Brown and of course in Vietnamese 6 months ago. It is a detective novel and I think it was more interesting than Emergency Murder. The book also reminds me about Shutter Island film I saw in Vietnam. They have some common points like they are both talking about detective and there are a lot of events happen in process. At the end, the film and book have result out of my mind. The victim in film and the murderer in the book are surprising to readers nobody can thinks they have an end like this. However, there still some different points. In my opinion, the film is more interesting than the book, every detail in the film makes the viewers curious and they were led to another point but actually it was not true. The end of film, the main actor was the victim and viewers have a big question that the end of the film is true or not. I love that film. When I read the book, the story doesn’t have much interesting detail, I was looking for more exciting but it was all about questions between characters. The end of the book doesn’t have much action just talking and arrest the murderer.
12. Are you puzzled or confused about anything in the story? What is it that confuses you, and why do you find it confusing? Yes, I am confused some details in the story. The first thing is the relationship between characters is complicated and I don’t know clearly about the victim Nanette Myer. Her relationship is confusing, she has many secrets as had an affair with Aaron, she knew Virginia’s secret. A small group character but they have lot information to the readers. Second is why they keep answer what detective asks them, if they have more information why didn’t they tell him? It is a case about murder and people don’t care too much they just talk around and around until somebody asks right the point as Lavelle she knew who was the one maybe kill Nanette but she afraid and don’t want to speak to Maxine. The last one is the Maxine, she almost dies three times but she still wants to know who the one kills Nanette. I think it enough for the first time almost get killed, she should stay away and the case should Grabowski take care.
9 ) - If I could ask someone a question, I might ask Virginia why did she experiment her poisonous pill on Nanette. Was she jealous of Nanette? or did Nanette represent a menace for her? - If I could ask a question to the author, I would ask her this following question "when Maxine told to Hank (Nanette's husband) that his wife died, why didn't he feel sad ?" I choose the first question because in the book there is no explicit information about the causes of 'why Virginia kills Nanette'. I choose the second question because I think that the author should explain why Hank wasn't so sad about wife died. Maybe he didn't love her? Or maybe he was still in love with Maxine? We don't know. Janet Mc Giffin should focus on that. Anyway, I think that it is a very interesting book.
14 ) I personally think that the author wrote this story because she is really against murderous actions and maybe that is what affect her the most. Maybe she gets the idea of writing this story from her personal experience. But I think that the message that Janet want to share is to tell doctors and scientist to stop experimenting their products on humans.
4) I would change the life of the brother of Sterling (Herschel) in the book "Rascal" . I would give him the life of doctor Hank because this man has a better job that permits him to live in better condition than Herschel. Even if Hank life is a little bit disturbed by the death of his woman, he doesn't have to be exposed everyday to the conflicts of a war like Herschel.
8. this book is bout murder. a hidden murder or unbelievable case that nobody considered before. so far i am not far from the end but as i read i think maxine might be reached to the murder and may be she will find out who us murder. may be she is going to die because she wants to improve herselfn by doing something. i am almost finish book so according to my reading maxine going to surprise when she find the murder because she is her one of the best friend and her friend is always use her that maxine never recognize. finally when maxine aware of all position, she might be lost her job or change city. may be she left her job nd go some new place and restart her life again in different place or may be get married with mr. grabowski because he tke care her very well. when she got attacked by stranger , he was help her.
2. this book remind me a movie called "gupt". this movie was same as this book. every things is going same. movie was lso about murder in college. in nthis movie two best students who were friends and one of ws did murder but his friends neve know his hidden skill so he finally got real information about his friend. they always worked togheter and shared everything alike.
This story talks about a murder that happened in the emergency room where a doctors’ wife called Nanette was killed. Maxine, an ER doctor, was a friend of Nanette and she is the one who was responsible for her situation. In the story, Maxine was trying to find out who the killer was with the help of many characters including detective Garbowski that she fell in love with in the end. She wasn’t convinced about the results of the death report as it showed that the death’s cause was a heart attack. Maxine was sure that it was a murder as she knew that Nanette was a healthy woman. Also, she noticed that when the victim came to the hospital she wasn’t dress\ed as usual and there were white spots on her skin. After searching, Maxine found out that Virginia, a researcher who was working with her, was the killer. She committed this crime because Nanette found out that Virginia created a cure for leprosy and she was testing it on poor people for a sum of money which was considered as illegal. Therefore, she killed that woman by injecting her with a poison chemical. At the end of the story, Virginia was arrested and her career and research ended.
This book talks about a murder of a doctor's wife. The main character is a a ER doctor named Maxine and she is in the whole story trying to find out who was the killer of Nanette(the doctor's wife). Maxine was in the ER room when Nanette came dying. Virginia was finding the cure for leprosis and she started proving it in humans, something that she could not do. Well I've read this for my English class... it's was pretty easy to discover the murderer. And the writing, well, it was more an sketch than a novel with completely developed characters and all but it was ok. An easy reading to spend a couple of hours.
Horrible.
I enjoyed reading this story very much, even though it wasn't the murder I was expecting before reading and easy for Level 5. The author represents the emotions of characters deeply and richly, especially main character. I guessed the murderer in the early stage, but I had never realized why and how the person did it.
Question 14: When I read this book, it seems to be a real story about misunderstood, and hate each other. The way the author wrote about this story made people want to know what will happen next. Also, inside of this book has a message about mistake, and high temperature will make people cannot control themselves. I think the author hot the idea from accidents happened from Emergency Room (ER) in hospital. Around those accidents, often have something hard to understand, some patients were okay before they went to ER, but after they got rescues by doctors, they may much hurter or die. Like in this book, a woman was killed by the poison of the pill, and everybody thought that was the doctor’s fault. Later then, the real murderer is doctor’s assistant. Because of a small mistake a good woman become a murder. On the other hand, the victim also had a big fault too, she was tried to find out about that assistant’s sickness. By this book, the author wanted to share a study about the human’s self respectful, also people should pay more attention on their temperature, they should calm down in any case even it may hurt them. One more thing, everyone has their own human’s rights so they should be faired to each other, and help their life keep away from guilt.
Question 11: When I read this book again tomorrow, this one could be happened with the remorse of the murderer. She will return to her life with the same job she had before, a doctor’s assistant. She also has to spend the rest of her life with her sickness, and received the help from the doctor who got the misunderstood was a murderer. Also that girl has to stay most of her time in hospital, see another patient get hurt every day, and also receive hurts by her sickness. More than that, the doctor will has chance to talk, and rescues her special patient. Day by day, they get much understand each other, help each other in work and their life, and in the end, the assistant will die but she brought a big love, and the forgive to her. I want this book continues like this because I want people read this story and get their own study about life between human and human. If people do anything wrong, or take off the other of life they have to receive the result is not easy to them to let them fell guilty and repent of their mistakes. Also it will be a bid study to everybody about the cause and effect of their mistake, and keep them away from crimes.
I finished reading this book ^^. It is an awesome book about the investigation . Q9 : I would ask Maxine , a doctor at Mercy Hospital ER ," why does Maxine want to know who killed Nanette?" Everything she did , maybe can help Hank or Grabowski,Nanette even herself, but she can be died either. I think she should stand out of the case or investigate quietly. Don't let the murderer knows her is investigating the case. I choose this question because if Maxine is the murderer, will she put in the jail? or she just receives a " light" punishment of the court for unlocking her stuff?
Q10 : As I read today, to forget unlocking her stuff that makes me surprised because she is a doctor and a researcher at Marquette University six months ago. Why can she forget unlocking her stuff after she did research. That's the big mistake for the researcher like her. Everything she researches can be poison, that might kill people who use or drink that without the doctor's advice.Because of her unlocking stuff, she kills Nanette indirectly, but she did not know. That will affects the story.
Q11 :I hope Grabowski and Maxine will have a kiss at Grabowski's house. It's the right time to them because he likes her a lot, and she was divorced six months ago. He can tell out his love to her, but he did not. I wish that will happen because love makes everything true. He is a kind man. Why can't he have a wife as Maxine who wants to help and take care of patient.
