Brant Parker was an American cartoonist. He co-created and drew The Wizard of Id comic strip until passing the job on to his son, Jeff Parker, in 1997. Cartoonist Johnny Hart, his co-creator, continued writing the strip until his death on April 7, 2007.
It's interesting to see what popular fads are going around in these older comic collections. In this one, it was the start of the Secret Agent / 007 crazy of the early 60s.
Brant Parker & Johnny Hart, The Wondrous Wizard of ID (London; Coronet Books, 1965).
Good humour, for example:
King: “Come along, Earl, I'll show you around the kingdom.” ... Earl: “Hello, peasant … How're they treating you?” Peasant: “I can't complain.” Earl: “How nice. Why do you say that?” Peasant: “It's forbidden.”

King: “All men are created equal.” Crowd: “What about kings?” King: “All kings are equal, too.”
Maybe I was spoiled with the Sunday paper, seems like the newspaper contributions were funnier or more insightful. Oh well, my favorite Brant character remains the Wizard.
