Excellent book you can get for design of intake and exhaust systems of an IC Engine. Data is very much relatable and much useful for basic design problem solving.
Ok, so you have a BSA motorcycle that was built in 1950. Being somewhat of a historical buff, you wonder how to size one of the Brooklands-style exhaust systems to fit the era.
Well, this book is your salvation. Or, it was mine. The details of exhaust systems are provided with the scientific background. The sizing information is given as well as the design objectives. So, it can be properly built according to the best theory at the time.
I have the later 1998 re-print. It's a textbook with some interesting historical facts and a lot of information. Still the only book published specifically on exhaust and intake systems, later research is proprietary by manufacturers and specialists although David Vizard does touch on design in sone of his tuning books
