For a series of readers geared towards middle-schoolers, this volume, perhaps unsurprisingly, really goes out on a limb to point out the lethality of its subject. There's an entire chapter devoted to arsenic's use in famous murder cases which seems entirely uncalled-for but actually makes this one worth the read. I mean, hell, we can talk about valence shells and solvency and all that crap until the cows come home. But what do we really care about? Famous poisoners and their reigns of terror!
