We were immediately drawn in, and left in search for answers as we began the jaw dropping journey into Harlow James’ Captivated. As deputy Cash pulls Piper over for a traffic violation, the arrogant womanizer unexpectedly finds himself spellbound. As the relationship begins to evolve, he finds himself changing, but is taken off guard as he discovers his love has a secret. A hero that evolves, a strong heroine, and endearing secondary characters, Captivated is a good read.

I loved a lot of things in this third book in the series. First thing was Cash Willliams. One more book boyfriend in my short list. ;) This sexy and hot cop is fire! Piper is strong and sweet. And I enjoyed every moment of them together. The humor, the bit of suspense, the hot scenes and all the feelings that gave me, made me connect with the whole story. The way that Harlow wave it and the great interaction between the characters made Captivated my favorite story in this series.

I have come to learn when Harlow James has a new book release, I set aside a few hours to devour, absorb, laugh, and sometimes get a bit teary in the eye...
Her latest is a perfect pick-me-up kind of read!
Captivated surpassed my expectations! Okay...these are expectations I didn’t even know I had until I started reading...but apparently were really high after the first two books in the series (peeps, this series is that kind of wonderful!)
With that shocking prologue...ACK! My jaw dropped and I concede...I’m the reader who immediately opens the back of the book to see how it all ends.
Because...
I CAN’T BELIEVE HARLOW WOULD GIVE ME A BLOODY HEART ATTACK LIKE THAT!!
Ahem...anyhow...things I loved...
Cash and Piper’s snarky banter will have you cracking up like a hyena! Then there is Cash himself and his adorably determined attempts to make Piper see him in a much better light (the bar scene slap had me dying!). It’s hard not to like a guy who spends a lot of time trying to win over a woman, but Piper was perfect for this playboy and his efforts had my heart melting!
Also, the bonus epilogue! Total marshmallow y’all...

Captivated is book 3 in the Emerson Falls series and is Cash & Pipers book.
Cash is arrogant and cocky but also compassionate and loving. Having grown up around parents who never really set a good example of what a healthy relationship should be he decides that love is not for him and he doesn't do relationships. He is up front with women to not expect more than one night with him and his reputation is known around the town.
Piper is new in town and running from a past that keeps her constantly looking over her shoulder. On her way to a job interview she gets pulled over by none other than Deputy Cash Williams for going down the wrong way on a one way street. She gets off with a warning andgoes along her merry way. Not realising she may have just met someome who could end up an important part of her life.
The prologue to this story sucked me in insantly. It was intense, shocking and suspenseful. Then the story takes us back to where Cash & Pipers story begins. Cash tries everything the wear Piper down after she is simply not interested in a guy like him. Their banter was entertaining and I loved how Piper didn't give into Cash's advances right away. She was funny, sassy, sweet, kind, caring, a little quirky and I really liked her character. I took a little longer to warm up to Cash and really believe he could change from his previous ways and there was a small instance where the way he treated another character in the book didn't sit right with me, and his way of thinking fell into the 'double standards' column. Even though he knew what he would say and think was wrong it really didnt help with me trying to connect to him early on but once I did warm up to him I really did fall for him and that main reason was Birdie.
Harlow has a way of adding in these side charcters who truly become part of the Emerson Falls family and Birdie was FANTASTIC. I loved every minute of hers and Cash's relationship and you could really feel the love between this 'mother & son' duo. She def added to his character depth and was always there to knock some sense into him when he was being a little too 'Cash'
I enjoyed the chemistry, passion and fire between Piper & Cash and the added suspense really kept me invested in how the story was going to end and I can not wait for the next book in this series as I have a feeling Luke will end up my favourite book boyfriend from this series (though Kane is still my number 1)

This book is an incredible contemporary romance read, there are elements of suspense and angst combined with a heavy does of make your Kindle melt, swoon worthy romantic moments.
Deputy Cash Williams gives new meaning to the phrase ‘Sexy Man in Uniform’, he’s all that and a box of Cheez It 😉. From big old man whore to slave to love - How the mighty womanizer Cash has fallen. But it’s a nosedive off of the tallest cliff that he would willingly take over and over again.
Piper is a beautifully complicated woman. Driven to succeed she has worked hard at becoming a nurse and loves helping people, her caring nature also has her doing volunteer work in a retirement facility. She is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside but there is even more to her than meets the eye - Piper is hiding from her past, a past that she can’t seem to escape from.
There’s no way Piper or Cash knew what was in store for them when they first met. Both, for very different reasons were not looking for love and at first tried hard to ignore their attraction to one another. But you can only ignore a burning flame for so long, before it explodes into something bigger, brighter, hotter.
Watching Cash and Piper fall hard and fast for each other and navigate their way to a beautiful happily ever after makes this book a Five Plus Star read. TBR and enjoy and remember: Love is like a bag of Scrabble tiles, you never know what you’re going to get!

Ahh Cash.... you are going to be totally captivated by this complicated, love starved man.... he is just delicious. He is so deserving of love and a future. When the sassy Piper comes into his world he is totally bowled over by her.... the very fact that she isn’t impressed with his cocky and over confident attempts at picking her up makes it even more fun to read!!
It isn’t all roses and sunshine for this couple though, as they ease into a lovely relationship with sizzling chemistry, trust and love, the past comes back to put it all in jeopardy.... will they both be able to build a future together after the devastation of one fateful night?
Brilliant supporting characters, realistic dialogue and a great story..... sometimes there is a bit too much inner rambling for me but still a brilliant read that I devoured!!

I’m so glad I have found Harlow James because this book had everything! Douchbag, sexy AF main hero, Deputy Cash Williams😏 and sweet, mysterious Piper running from her past. The prologue had my heart racing and I had to find out what happened! I love Cash’s development after he pulled over the “idiot who can’t read the sign for a one way street,” and gets knocked on his ass by this woman. 😂 I thoroughly enjoyed the “slap heard around town,” when she called him on his bullshit and slapped him in the bar. The book had me laughing, crying and loving the characters! I highly recommend this book! I received and ARC for an honest review.

We’ve met Cash before as he is best friends with Cooper from Enticed. He’s the playboy, the man who has no time for romance or romantic entanglements. As we learn more about him and the people he does care about, he is amazing. He’s kind, loving and gentle…but he is a man shaped by his past. Will he ever open his heart? Piper was someone who I knew I would love. She’s smart, kind and strong…a woman who always wanted to be nurse to care for others. Yet she carries the burden of some really big secrets that she can’t tell anyone. Will she ever tell Cash her secrets?
This book just about destroyed me. Every emotion that Cash and Piper go through in this book you will feel deep in your soul..fear, anger, hope, happiness, chemistry, longing and love. I’ve read the story a few times now and every single time I read it my stomach was either in knots (finding out Piper’s secret) or I laughed out loud (the STD/slap situation) or I swooned (how nervous Cash was on their 1st date) or I sobbed (the moment when Piper shows up on Cash’s doorstep) or I had tears running down my face (that Epilogue). The sexual chemistry is so hot and steamy that your pages may melt. The suspense is woven so well into the story that it adds this intensity that was everything but yet it never distracts from the romance at all. Harlow always gives us a book that is chock-full of emotions. It was perfection.
I also love that Harlow writes characters that aren’t perfect because it makes me love them even more. They feel real to me. I relate to their insecurities and imperfections. If I could get on a plane and fly to this magical town I would in a heartbeat and befriend Kane, Olivia, Cooper, Clara, Cash and Piper.
I’m not 100% sure I like that Harlow has me wiping tears away at the end of her books but I’ll forgive her for that because her stories are raw, emotional, funny, steamy, intriguing and authentic. You could even say they are simply captivating.

Sweet and fun, slow-burn and small-town romance, from friends to lovers as the third book in the Emerson Falls series. Each book is standalone but to get that vibe of friendship and connection among all the characters mentioned, I recommend reading all three books. They are bound by strong friendship, love and family, support and understanding.

Harlow James delivers another amazing story! She has a way of capturing real and raw emotions in her writing and that is what makes it that more brilliant!

Oh my goodness. Wow!!!! What an intense read.
Emerson Falls just keeps getting better and better! First Kane, then Cooper and now Cash.
He’s taken the top spot for me. I just absolutely love him.
His character transformation throughout this book blew me away. It was so well written. There’s so much depth to him & I loved his confidence but also how he knew when to humble himself.
Piper is such a genuine character. She’s so selfless & caring, even when her life is basically hell at the moment.
I love Birdie’s presence throughout this book. I loved reading Cash’s feelings towards her. So sweet. Makes you fall for him even more. ❤️
The chemistry between Cash and Piper was probably the hottest yet. Harlow James knows how to write chemistry!
The steamy scenes were...STEAMY!! 🔥
I felt all kinds of emotions throughout this book. Shock, love, sadness, FRUSTRATION (you’ll understand why this is in all caps when you read the book & yes, it’s totally worth it), & happiness.
That’s what makes a book great. When you feel everything the characters go through, like you’re right there with them.
I love the risk that Harlow took with this book. Adding a suspenseful twist to the story really hooks you from the very beginning.
She never leaves anything left unanswered. Her attention to detail with every character, emotion & setting is outstanding!

Oh Cash!! Cash is my man. I know I always say that I love each of Harlow’s heroes but Cash has taken that top spot and I don’t think anyone will beat him lol. And sweet sweet little Piper. Oh man I don’t even know where to begin with these two.
I do think how Cash first meets Piper is so cute. And the fact that just that one meeting she has been stuck in Cash’s head. But being the town playboy he doesn’t get stuck on one chick. Is Piper enough to change Cash’s ways?

ok let me start off by saying...YES HARLOW YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hands Down Hands Down my favorite book by you!!!! Holy Hot Hell!!!!!!!! I wanted to scream laugh cry smile cheer be pissed off at the world with this book! I freaking love Cash and Piper they make you realize that life is just to damn short to not be happy. Yes their was issues that made Pipers life turn completely turn upside down and i did not see that coming!!!!! Omg Cash Cash Cash where do i even begin with you!!! i love you i hate you i just goddamn love you!!! this playboy hot ass cop can just be such an jerk but gosh you really get to know who he is and why he is the way he is..Birdie thank you for making he into such a wonderful man!!! God man my heart just beat out of my chest with that opener like what!!!! you did such an amazing job Harlow like yes girl yes!!!! 10 out of 10 once this book is released you need to read it!!!!

It didn't take me long to become a fan girl of Harlow James. Ever since she's been sending me ARC's I fall more in love with her writing every time. She is so good at pulling you into a story, and keeping your attention until the very end. I received an ARC of Captivated in exchange for my honest review. Captivated is a stand alone novel in the Emerson Falls series.
Right from the first page this book will suck you in. Your going to immediately want to know more, and you won't be able to put it down until you get the answers your looking for. I love that these books are so much more than romance. They make you laugh, they make you swoon, and they keep you on the edge of your seat.
A man like Cash is the type that sinks their touch into your soul, leaving you completely changed by their presence.
When I read book two I remember messaging Harlow and telling her that Cooper was one of the best book boyfriend I'd read in a while. I messaged her again with Captivated. Cash was amazing. He is definitely my favorite, so far. I have high expectations that Harlow will deliver, yet again, another fantastic book boyfriend in her next book, but he can be my favorite for now.
Cash was fantastic. Sure, he was a bit of a man whore, but I didn't mind all that. He was young, and he was having fun. He didn't set out to hurt people intentionally, and women knew who he was when they got involved with him. I loved that as soon as he laid eyes on Piper he knew she was something special. He wanted to be a better man, and he didn't fight himself over it. I think that was a true testament to the kind of man he was.
"Everyone has a part of them they reserve for only a select few to see. Maybe Piper is one of those people that deserves that part of you."
I was immediately intrigued with Piper. I knew she was keeping some secrets and I was dying to find out what they were. She was a mystery, and there's nothing I love more then trying to unravel a mystery about a character. Even though I knew she had something going on in her life that we didn't immediately have the answers to, I had no trouble falling in love with her. Regardless of what she had went through she was still headstrong. She didn't let anyone walk all over her, and she wasn't afraid to tell it like it was. Hands down one of my favorite Piper scenes is when she interrupts a "date" Cash is having. When you read it you will understand.
One of my favorite things about this series of books is all the supporting characters. I love that they all make appearances in each book, and I love the bond and banter that they have with one another.
Also, Birdie is like one of my favorite book characters. She was sassy, and I loved all the scenes that had her in them. I also wanted to go to the store and buy some Cheez It's while reading the story.
Sometimes people surprise us in the most unexpected ways.
Once again Harlow James delivers a 5 STAR worthy read. She knows how to tell a story, and she knows how to tell one well. I never had any doubt that this was going to be a 5 star read for me! I definitely had high expectations going into this book and damn did Harlow James not only deliver but she seriously blew me away with just how beautiful Cash and Piper’s story is!
A few warnings:
* If you’re an emotional person such as myself definitely have a box of tissues at the ready before you start this book! There was a section of this book that I cried for about 5 chapters straight. Yes you read that right FIVE chapters of tears!
* Make sure you block out a couple of hours for reading this book cause once you pick it up you will not want to put it down! This book starts out with a gripping prologue that will send you racing through the pages to find out what brought the characters to that point and how things will be resolved.
* And lastly fertility issues are discussed in this book so if that is a topic you’re uncomfortable with just know that it does play a roll within Cash and Piper’s love story.
There is something about Harlow’s male protagonists that just resonate with me! I absolutely love that she can write a vulnerable male lead who is still strong and sexy as hell. I feel that as a society we automatically think that a vulnerable man isn’t a strong man but there is definitely strength in showing your emotions. Cash’s character growth throughout this book was honestly everything! I fell hard for Cash! He is so cocky and full of himself in the beginning and watching him open up not only to Piper but to his friends over the course of this book was so heartwarming! He really has the sweetest soul!
And then there’s Piper who has this quiet strength mixed with compassion and sass! She didn’t let Cash get away with anything and naturally brought out the best of him just by being herself. Her confidence really blossoms over the course of this book and it was truly beautiful to watch her become centered and go after what she wants.
I just really loved their story so much! Watching Cash go from being the playboy who swore off love to falling head over heals in love with Piper and watching Piper open herself up to Cash in the midst of all her personal struggles was just beautiful.

“Captivated”—Harlow James [5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️] Well what can I say besides another amazing book from Harlow James that I absolutely loved! This is book three in the Emerson Falls series, and if you haven’t read the first two, “Tangled” and “Enticed,” I highly recommend you do! Cash is a Deputy in the town of Emerson Falls, Oregon and is a total playboy—he doesn’t do relationships, and he certainly doesn’t do love. One day on a traffic stop, Cash pulls over Piper, and he’s suddenly captivated by this woman that he’s only just met, which is something he hasn’t experienced before. They have a couple encounters in town, and Piper is not falling for his charm, his suave pickup lines, and his overly confident ways. She’s heard about his reputation and is not going to just fall into his arms that easily. Cash is finding himself in unchartered territory here—she is not like any of the girls he’s ever met, and he finds himself relentlessly pursuing her, trying to prove he’s not the man she thinks he is. Piper has some secrets though; she’s living a double life out here in Emerson Falls as that was the only way her family could protect her. The last thing she thought would happen would be starting to fall for Cash, and it’s only a matter of time before the truth comes out. Her life is threatened and some complications arise, but will Cash want to stick by her when he finds out the truth? You must read to find out 😊 This book definitely gave me all the feels and I finished in just one sitting. I have adored every book in this series, but so far this one takes the top spot. The prologue alone rips your heart out and then you have to wait a good portion of the book to find out what happened after that.
First off, Piper. Sweet but sassy. She has a big secret and struggles to let anyone in. We learn pretty quickly what's going on in her world. She's one of those female characters that you know you'd love to have as a friend. And Lord knows, she could use a girl gang!
Cash. Big sigh. He's a ladies man. Witnessed his parents have a terrible marriage and vows to never repeat that. So a new girl every night. No commitment. No feelings. No problem. Until ... Piper! I love how throughout the book we peel away the layers of Cash and learn that despite his good looks and his cocky attitude, he has a heart of gold!
I love a book that can make me feel a lot of things and this one sure fit the bill. Early on Cocky Cash - wanted to punch him. Early on Piper - wanted to hug her. At times through the book I wanted to shake them both. I laughed. I teared up. And then throw in the suspense element and I gasped a few times.
And Birdie (& Samuel too) - I adored her. The relationship between Birdie & Cash I think shows you exactly the type of man he truly is. And I think the spunk factor that Piper has can also been seen in Birdie.
This book was soooo good and y'all need to read it STAT! And now I can't wait to read Luke's story.

He doesn’t believe in love, has never had a serious relationship and not even gone on a date. But the day he stops Piper for going in the wrong direction on a one way road he is immediately charmed by her.
“I’m star-struck. My chest feeling like a truck just slammed into me and cracked a rib. This woman is gorgeous. Not just hot, but strikingly beautiful, angelic even.”
Piper arrives at Emerson falls looking for a fresh start and a place to feel safe after running away from problems back home and starts working as a nurse in the local hospital.
Cash and Piper cross paths a few times. He tries to seduce her but unfortunately for Cash his womaniser ways get in the way every time. Piper is kind, smart, bold and headstrong. Betrayed by her fiancé and his double life, Piper flees her life to find safety. I really loved the confidence she gains by being independent and how Cash unlocks emotions she has never experienced before.
I love characters like Cash. Cash is a playboy deputy limiting himself to one night stands due to his reservations towards love, only to be knocked on his ass by the intense and unexpected feelings towards Piper. He is cocky, crass and a shameless flirt but also protective, possessive and extremely loyal.
Cash and Piper share an immediate and mutual attraction, even though Piper tries to deny her feelings at first. They soon realise that they feel more than just a physical desire for each other and embark on a relationship filled with a lot of firsts for both and a happiness they have never felt before.
I really liked the plot and the timing and adored the secondary characters but I’m not too sure what it was, but something just didn’t click with me. In saying that, although I didn’t connect with the writing as much as I would have liked, I still enjoyed the story and the characters. Captivated is the first book by Harlow that I have read, and I look forward to reading more her work in the future. Even though this wasn’t the story for me, your opinion may be completely different to mine and adore it.

Oh, I can't get enough of Emerson Falls and the loveable and relatable characters in each book. This is book three in the series. It can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the series in order so you can meet all of the amazing characters and learn about their stories, as they appear in the other novels.
Captivated is Cash and Piper's story and I wasn't quite prepared for the emotional rollercoaster ride of emotions in this novel. The prologue just about gutted me, but I knew that Cash's story would be an epic one. After all, it was going to take a very special woman to change his viewpoint on relationships! I loved the heart and emotion that was put into this story. Both Cash and Piper are relatable characters and face some tough challenges throughout the novel. I loved the twists and turns of the story and literally didn't want to put down this book. Cash and Piper's chemistry is explosive, I loved their easy back and forth banter and how the novel featured dual POV's so we got a good understanding of how both Piper and Cash were feeling throughout the novel.
This novel is full of heart and soul, has an engaging storyline, loveable characters and will take you on an emotional journey that you won't forget. Don't wait, start this series ASAP!!!!

This is my first Harlow James book and I will definitely be going back and reading all of her other releases.
True to its name, this book captivated me in every single way! From the very beginning, I was immersed into the world that Harlow created and everything I knew no longer existed. I was there watching Piper and Cash through it all, every single moment better than the last. There were times where I wanted to throw my kindle across the room because they just had me feeling so much intense emotion.
Through each and every moment, you are pulled into the story. Harlow's attention to detail and overall emotional impact will leave you breathless. The intensity between Cash and Piper is so palpable that you can feel it from the moment they meet. You can feel every single spark between them each and every time they come together. And when they finally do, it's like the fourth of July lighting up your kindle with fireworks.
Five stars for this fantastic ride that had me wanting to go back to the beginning to experience it again and again.

Harlow James has done it again. In fact, this might be her best book yet. That’s saying a lot since books 1 and 2 were so freakin’ good. I so loved getting to know Cash more in, Captivated. I felt like I got a better understanding of who was, and why I was so drawn to him beforehand.
One flaw of his I didn’t care for, though, was how stubborn he was. Though I understood his reasons for not wanting love. He was dang near stubborn to a fault. All that changed when Piper meandered on the scene. Piper. Mysterious girl, running like a cheetah from her horrid past, meets Cash in the most unique, yet cute way. That meeting runs rapid through Cash’s mind. Then another chance encounter at Piper’s work—revives fireworks and is the catalyst for their steamy love affair. But how long will Cash resist monogamy? Will he give in to his feelings that light up every time Piper’s around? Will Piper let Cash in, and reveal her family and the reason why she’s in hiding?

This book was amazing, and is definitely one I will reread again!

I honestly think that Harlow James outdoes herself with each new book that she writes. Her characters feel so real to me, that I start to take on their emotions. To me that is what I call an amazing and talented author.
Cash is the town playboy and Piper is new to town. In this book we learn why Cash doesn't believe in love. We meet Birdie, who is one of the most important people in Cash's life. She is the perfect mother figure for Cash and puts him in his place. I love the way Cash and Piper first meet and the interactions and banter between the two is perfect. Piper is just what Cash needs in his life. There were many intense moments throughout the book that had me at the edge of my seat with tears in my eyes. And the ending, oh my goodness it made my heart so happy. Harlow includes a bonus epilogue at the end of the book that you won't want to miss out on.

Piper and cash could not be more opposite. Their opinions are pretty horrible when they first meet. There are some secrets between them and they must be able to accept them and get over it. Their funny banter will make you literally LOL and people might think you’re crazy!! A book you definitely need in your life!!

This book was truly a special kind of amazing. It the third installment of the Emerson Falls series. And I just Love they way Harlow James can keep us enticed in the series. Whether it be the plot, the characters chemistry, her writing. It all ties in together to give us such a great, spectacular even, series. Piper and Cash are an interesting couple, between Cash’s playboy like mindset and Piper’s sweet but take no bs attitude, it certainly makes for not only an interesting dynamic, but one of my favorite kinds. Piper hides secrets, ones that could turn Cash away from wanting her. I highly suggest reading the book to find out! James certainly has a way to keep the reader in suspense. I know I was on the edge of my seat throughout certain parts in the novel. I can’t wait for more!!!

I feel like I have been living under a rock considering this is the first book that I have read from Harlow James! Even though Captivated is book #3 in the Emerson Falls series it can be read as a stand-alone so don’t worry if you haven’t read the other 2 books! Warning though once you finish Captivated you will become a Harlow James addict and will scramble to not only buy the first two books in this series but other books from her as well! Cash is the absolute one night stand kind of guy and Piper is not that type. Even though they are completely different in that aspect their backgrounds are extremely similar! I love the instant chemistry and the growth these two character make through out the book!!! I absolutely love this story line and the amazing characters Harlow has created!!!

Harlow James' books always keep me on my toes. Once again, she did not disappoint me with this third opus taking place in the fictive but lovely Emerson Falls city.
Harlow offers a rich story with raw emotions. I laughed, I swooned, I fanned myself, I gasped, I cursed and I ultimately brushed away the dust tickling my eyes.
All these genuine reactions and feelings were what made this reading a wonderful ride. Above all, they made the words on paper feel real and authentic. I was not just a passive reader. I was an active one. I could picture myself in Emerson Falls, among these characters, as if they were my own friends and family.

I loved this book. Cash and Piper are so cute!! 🥰 I loved that we are sucked into the storyline and fall in love with the characters. Piper recently moves to Emerson Falls and Cash is the hot playboy cop who doesnt want to settle down. But he's going to have to work hard to prove to Piper to take a chance on him.⠀
