"The fascination of Campobello is as much symbolic as it is physical. The island is now the site of the only international park in the world. It is Canadian soil which has become part of America's heritage and which is being preserved for the future through the commitment of the citizen and governments of both countries."
In September of 2012, we took a Road Scholar trip to Campobello. There were only 10 travelers and we all stayed in the Prince Cottage. We learned about the tides in the Bay of Fundy and how Franklin Roosevelt just fit in as a regular with the locals.
Nowlan’s book provides a wonderful historical perspective on Campobello from its founding in 1770 to the present day.
It was a brief, but fun read as it enabled me to think back to our trip and the time we spent at this historic international park.
