the proclamations of love were too cringey, but it was a perfect description of what "love" in your teens is i guess.

This is a love story. Its also about class, youth, expectations, and family influence. Harvey is able to describe the thoughts and conflicting emotions which is part of our experience as humans. Not a heavy read and not trivial either.

I picked this book up spontaneously in a charity shop and ended up loving it. It's an easy read and very descriptive in all the right places. The build up led to an ending which was unexpected, making me keep turning the pages.
