Lisa Cleary has been plagued with psychic visions all her life. But now her visions are of horrifying murders. Detective Danny Talon is on an urgent mission to find the violent killer of three young women. Lisa and Danny each ask eminent psychiatrist Dr. Michael Rennick for help -- and Rennick discovers the three of them are lost in the same web of murder...and the killer has them in sight.
Reads quickly - but there's a plot twist a the end that's central to the story - and doesn't seem like much of either a twist or a revelation. It's not as bad as Son of Rosemary or the movie The Happening. Yet it was dissapointing and left me not all that interested in what was going to happen in the story. It's like if you read a mystery that revealed to you at one point that no crime had been committed.
Dean Koontz puts psychic elements in his stories - ColdFire, Mr. Murder, etc. - a usually puts a twist on them - revealing that the nature of the memories or telepathy or clairvoyance or whatever is different than what the characters think it is. But he handles the ideas better than in this book.
The next book to be removed from.my TBR pile was The Visionary by Don Passman. This was one of the typical murder mysteries, with just the right number of twists and turns in the plot to keep the reader interested. The ending, however, I did not see coming at all. . . . Passman took the usual premise, cop chasing serial killer with help of a psychiatrist, mixed in a little psychic who is confused, and stirred it all together with a good storyline. This was the first of Passman's books I've read, but it was a fun little read. If I see any more of his works, I'd be willing to check them out. . . . My Rating: 3.75/5 stars
I stumbled on to this in a book sale. I really like how the story went, especially when Lisa's psychic visions about a murder. The twist is good too. I was really surprised at the end. I was so engrossed because I really wanted to know who the murderer is. Thumbs up! :)
The ending was terrible. The book was not bad. But the ending ruined it for me totally. Too much left unexplained—plus I saw the ending coming for way too long before it was written. 3 stars.
