This was assigned reading for a leadership program I am participating in this year. It has had an impact on me, especially as I start a new position in which the expectations for my performance are high. Ms. Gonzales has inspired me to be more intentional, and while I have yet to actually initiate a daily meditation practice, I have made it a priority to find at least 10 minutes most days. This book shares information motion and guidance in an accessible manner, one that is practical and not just "out there." The exercises are very helpful, especially her guidance on integration in everyday life and the workplace. The book is all about becoming more aware, having better focus and clarity, and accepting what occurs and how we feel about it. One of my favorite concepts is that mindfulness allows us to respond to what occurs, rather than react.
