About the author

Mary Pickford was at one time the highest paid actress in the world and the most popular. Her work in silent films has been rediscovered in the past few decades and her position as one of the queens of Hollywood has been restored.

In addition to her screen work, Pickford contributed to and started charities including the Motion Picture Relief Fund and the Mary Pickford Foundation. She is a founding member of United Artists and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Not what I thought this book was about. I guess I thought it was some kind of reflection on her life. It was more how she found God after the loss of her mother and brother. Not what this PK needed to see. The mother died in 1928 and Jack died in 1933 and she wrote the book in 1935.

Just a little more religion than I was looking for.

My library had a copy of this book from 1927. This is a short book of Pickford's optimistic and religious views on life, much like a condensed version of her husband Douglas Fairbanks' Laugh and Live. The interesting thing about this book is that Mary was on the cusp of severe depression, so this happy attitude would be quite different in as few as 6 years.

I found this at a local antique shop a few years ago, and when I saw the author I felt as if I had found gold. Little Mary was such a strong woman, rising to the top of a world run by men in the early days of film. I want her other book like this called Why not Try God?.
