Michelle Celmer was born in Detroit, Michigan, USA, where she grew up. She wanted to be cosmetologist, but after three months at cosmetology school, she decided to left it. She married at 19, and within five years had three kids. She read voraciously, and decided writing. She signed up for a composition course at her local community college. After various manuscripts, her mother gave her "Tell Me Lies" by Jennifer Crusie, and she discovered the romance novels. She decided writing her own romance novel and on 2004, her firts book was published.
Michelle continued linving in southeastern Michigan with her husband, their three children, two dogs and two cats. When she's not writing or busy being a mom, you can find her in the garden or curled up with a romance novel. And if you twist her arm real hard you can usually persuade her into a day of power shopping.
She loves to hear from readers. Write her at P.O Box 300, Clawson, MI 48017.
After Nick Bateman's second wedding is called off, he finds comfort with his secretary Zoe Simmons. Now, the first thing I thought when I read that in the book was that this was going to be another one of those type books where the wealthy CEO's tries to control the female when they find out she's pregnant and get her to marry them. But I was thrilled to find that it wasn't. Nick and Zoe have been friend for 10 years and work quite well with each other. Nick was there for her every step of the way and although he wanted her to marry him when the test was positive, when she told him she wasn't ready, he didn't force her. They decided to have trial run to see how things went by him moving in before she decided to marry him or not. And although they are pretty opposite, him wanting lots of kids and her not sure if she wants any and her being content with being single. He still waited patiently for her by taking her to dinner and truly caring for her. Although the ending began sad, the outcome of it was beautiful and Nick and Zoe end up with a beautiful life together. I hope there are true men out there like Nick Bateman.
The Secretary's Secret is a heartwarming, playful story with two wonderful characters, witty dialogue and titillating love scenes. It's a story about friendship, family, hopes and unexpected events that make you revaluate the things that are truly important. Ms. Celmer creates the most likable characters: her men are very manly, strong willed, loyal and on top of that they are big sweethearts. Her heroines come off as smart and independent, but at the same time they are sweet and feisty, with real human flaws that make them even more easy to relate. I would recommend this book to pretty much anyone who is looking for a sweet "friends-to-lovers" story.
P.S. And it has one of the best epilogues I've ever read.
Loved it really. Nik is one of those handful of Harlequin heroes who I actually like a lot. The guy is very caring, loving and understanding. He is supportive towards Zoe throughout the story. Even when Zoe stands him up he blames himself for it, realizes his folly and immediately sets on a mission to rectify his mistake. Zoe has an independent streak a mile wide, a little childish sometimes and insecure, though understandably so as Nik hadn't confessed his feelings even after she did. now, for a woman who didn't want kids to have six of them is a complete 360 degree change of mind. Wow. Loved these two.
This was an HQN I read a long time ago, and didn't realize I was buying a "re-read." And I'm glad I did. It's one of my favorite story lines -- good friends, unplanned pregnancy, HEA. In a year or two, I'll probably read the description again on GR, and think "hmmmm that sounds up my and alley," and how convenient that it will already be on my nook!
¡Me encanta!
A feel good book. Proving that after ten years of friendship, your one true love can be right in front of you...a PERFECT epilogue for this story, unlike some that leave you hanging
