A very interesting biography of a woman who not only witnessed, by also contributed largely to the French 20th Century. As script writer, as journalist, as Minister of Culture, as citizen implied in politics and the betterment of conditions (especially for women), finally as a writer and biographer, François Giroud left a legacy of books and actions worth reading about.
Curiously, in this book written at the very end of the 20th. century (she died in 2003) she already talks of so many things we see today: the rising unemployment rates, the difficulties for families and the elderly, the collapse of economy and the profound changes in society and culture...
What a socially "clairvoyant" thinker this woman was! And what a tribute to the life of the Author of portraits such as Alma Mahler, Clemenceau and others!

Definitely a good read!

Well, I must admit that the title made me expect a totally different thing, so it was somehow disappointing. Never heard of Françoise Giroud before, so I had no interest in her autobiography. But let’s just say that I took a few lessons of life out of it…
