I wrote this book because I have met many people who are unaware of these teachings and I feel that it's something that everyone should be aware of. Even if you are aware of some things this book explains the hows and whys of these teachings to make them applicable in every day life and practice. When I began speaking about this at conferences I asked permission from the Elders. I was told that I can do that as long as I speak from the heart. The one caution that I was given was to make sure that non-natives undstand that it is not appropriate for them to teach this to native students/clients/patients due to historical and identity reasons. This book can help bridge cultural barriers. Providers, counselors, and teachers can give this book and talk about it with their clients and students as the teachings are coming from a native through this book. Also, this book is not meant to take the place of learning from the elders but rather give them a foundation to build from. I've sat with elders and healers as people who are unfamiliar with these teachings have met them and their questions many times are ones that can be answered in this book. If this book was read then when the people find themselves with the elders they can ask questions that can take them to the next level, more individual questions about their personal path.

Picked up this book to get in touch with native roots. This author aimed to provide basic teachings from the Anishinaabe spiritual belief system. Only critique is the book is too short and I want to learn more lol
