After double-crossing her friends to support her twin sister, Charlie is out of the popular group. But now her school has announced that they are accepting applications for a new school Junior Booster club--one in which members will get to shadow the Senior Boosters, receive tickets to all the high school football games, and of course, get to meet the cute football players. The popular kids need Charlie to fit the good grades, an interest in sports, and community service. Charlie's flattered, but are the girls just using her to get what they want?
I really liked this book because it was very interesting. In this series, the twin Charlie and Sammie are the main characters. In each book it changes which one of there perspectives it is from. This book was from Charlies perspective. After losing her best friend a.k.a. the most popular girl in middle school in the last book, they become friends again and Charlies friend starts a club called the Junior Waves" after her older cousins club the Waves." Sammie starts to think Charlies friend is just inviting her in the club so the club will be accepted by the principle because Charlie has better grades than her and the other people in the club ans she is a good tennis player. I recommend I would recommend reading the other books in the series first.
Charlie's friends aren't talking to her ever since she told on two boys who started a fire. Her twin Sammie thinks this is for the best since mean-girl and leader of the pack Lauren isn't nice at all. Charlie just wants to be part of the in-crowd though. When Lauren decided to form The Junior Waves club she needs Charlie to increase their chances of getting approved. Charlie is excited to be back in the group and will do pretty much anything even if it means going against what she knows is right.
This book was pretty cliched with no likable characters. I know it has a nice message about not giving in to peer pressure and bullying and being true to yourself but the delivery had the subtlety of a sledge hammer. Pretty much any cliche you can think of was in this book and you knew how the story was going to play out from the beginning. There are much better books out there that deal with these topics.
This book was light, fun and wholesome. It touches on the importance of family and choosing what friends you think are better people. Twin sister Charlie is trying desperately to fit in to the new cool group, while her sister, Sammie is one of the outcasts. The book shows the changes Charlie undergoes to try to be a better friend and a better sister. This book is great for someone in the mood for an innocent and feel-good story.
"Twice as Nice" by Lin Oliver is about twin sisters Charlie and Sammie. Charlie is torn between hanging out her Sammies friends who she thinks are weird but nice, and would not help her social status, or if she should hang out with her popular friends, who would make her one of the cool kids but are really mean to her because she ratted out two of the boys in her club the Sf2s. Will Charlie chose to stick with her popular friends even though they are mean or will she hang out with her sister and her friends even though they weird but nice to her? You will have to read "Twice as Nice" by Lin Oliver to find out! I liked this book a lot for a few different reasons. One reason is because you would think one thing would happen but then something else would happen. Also the book wasn't too long but also wasn't that short either. I recommend this book for girls that are in 5th grade or higher because the book was pretty easy to understand and the vocabulary was not that hard.
