Wall Street Journal & USA Today bestselling author Emma Slate writes romance with heart and heat.
Called “the dialogue queen” by her college playwriting professor, Emma writes love stories that range from romance-for-your-pants to action-flicks-for-chicks.
When she isn’t writing, she’s usually curled up under a heating blanket with a steamy romance novel and her two beagles—unless her outdoorsy husband can convince her to go on a hike.
An age gap, best friend’s father, one bed motorcycle club romance? Um heck YES. I ate this up. Logan & Smoke have chemistry from the second Smoke bails Logan and his daughter out of jail. The next morning, Logan dumps her absolute jerk of an ex (and girl, she went out with a bang) and decides to move down to Waco with her best friend, but getting down there means roadtripping with her best friend’s dad who’s driving the moving truck. As these two spend time together, their attraction becomes unavoidable. They decide on one night together and they’re fire. But one night isn’t enough, feelings grow, and they can’t stay away. The chemistry is delicious. Smoke had me swooning hard with how protective he is and how hard he fell for Logan. I was panicked when Logan’s past came back again (definitely check the content warnings on this one), I was living for the Edith and Harry cameos throughout the book, and my heart was happy to spend so much time with the Tarnished Angels, especially their Old Ladies, as Logan got to know them and spent more time with Smoke. This is one of my most favorite found families. And can we talk about Logan’s actual family?! Because her brothers killed me and had me laughing so hard, even during the hard moments. As I’ve done with the rest of this series, I absolutely binged this book, and I cannot wait for more!
Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Trope: taboo: best friends dad Angst: 😱😱😱1/2 Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥
Absolutely freaking loved it - definitely one of my fave of the series! I sat down to read it and literally did not get up until I finished. Very well written and fast paced, it was a pretty angsty read that touches on some very heavy topics. It's done with care, but if you're a sensitive reader, you may want to check the triggers, there were some white knuckle moments for sure. On the flip side, the antics and banter will have you laughing out loud and there's a girl gang you can only dream of in real life. The chemistry between Smoke and Logan was so hot it was practically tangible. Despite the story being from her perspective only, you could still easily tell it was a case of him falling first. He is so super protective and everything that Logan needed him to be. The character development in these books are phenomenal and Emma sincerely makes you want a story for every character she introduces.
Another unnecessary age canyon sexual predator story under the romance genre. 41 yo male lead and 24 yo female lead. Makes absolutely no sense why this is an acceptable trope. It’s gross, it’s not romantic.its not erotic or sexy. It’s mother flipping wrong! This crap needs to be put in its own category so that those who want to read this degenerate trash can but I don’t want to keep having to come across it. It’s not romance!
The depth given to Smoke is so subtle that when his alpha male shines through it grabs you by the throat with its intensity and doesn’t let go. Started this ARC as soon as it came through and stayed up all night to finish it. I love the world built around the Tarnished Angels and how Emma drops us in like we never left with every new book.
Just when I think I have a new favourite book in the series, another one is releases and throws a spanner in the works. This book has quite a few sensible topics which were all treated with such care and understanding.
Smoke was a delicious mix of sexy bad boy meets protective father figure. And Logan was such a badass.
My favourite passage: “They just told us the secret to a long and happy marriage is a ton of hanky panky. And I just hankied your panky.”
“I was yours the moment I saw you,” she said softly. “I just didn’t know it yet.”
there are very very vert few people that pull off a bestfriends dad romance, and by very few i mean this is the first one ive read and not hated. i just loved it. it was one that grew on me because the first part of the book was a little more fast paced than i liked but it was a little road trip so thats understandable.
what i always love about this series is the found family. it's the loyalty to the club and their family and it gets me every single time i just love it. the men are always fierce and protective and the women are always strong and resilient.
it was very much a book of will they wont they but when they did they really did. their chemistry and bond that formed outside of the bedroom and flirty banter was just chef's kiss.
ive loved all of the tarnished angels book but i think this just took top spot.
To put it simply, these books are essentially all the same and I love it that way. This one was a little darker, and the disclaimer/TW at the beginning had me waiting a while to read, but I really enjoyed it once I started....and then could not stop because I was totally sucked in.
Worth the wait. Absolutely 1000% worth the wait for release.
Dear lord these men fall so well for their ladies every time. And their ladies, they are soooo good at holding out, not in a tease sort of way just in a "how can he be certain already" kinda way.
I won't taunt ya'll, it's worth the one click and the lost sleep because you can't put it down. I'm already antsy for Bones' book next.
I was given this book as an ARC on Christmas Eve and could not wait to start reading. All I have to say is once again Emma Slate did not disappoint. If you are looking for something that is not filled with a lot of angst or does not have the OW drama then you should read the Tarnished Angles MC series. She has a way of drawing you into the story from the first chapter to the very last. From the very beginning, I found myself laughing constantly throughout the book. Especially when you find out just why Logan and her best friend Tavy (Smoke’s daughter) are in jail, or the revenge Logan takes against her cheating ex before starting her road trip with Smoke. Not to mention her four older brothers and how they are when they meet Smoke.
After deciding nothing was keeping her in Las Vegas after catching her fiancé cheating on her, Logan makes a spur-of-the-moment decision to leave Las Vegas and move to TX with her best friend Tavy. Since Tavy had to be in TX earlier than planned, Logan ended up driving with Smoke on a 3-day drive, while Tavy flew down. Smoke makes Logan feel so comfortable that she finds it easy to talk to him about her cheating ex and what it was like growing up with four older brothers. During Logan and Smoke's drive, the attraction becomes clear between the two of them and it hits a boiling point during their second night staying at a motel. Although they agreed it was to be a one-time deal, once home they soon realize that there is much more between them and they just can’t stay away from each other. Logan soon sees that both she and Smoke feel more for each other than just a one-night attraction.
Like others in this series, Fire & Frenzy focuses more on the family side of the storyline and features past characters, which I love. If you are looking for something that is not filled with over-the-top angst, or OW drama then you should read the Tarnished Angles MC series. I absolutely love all Emma Slates books in this series and would definitely recommend them to anyone.
Age gap and a woman who has a little vengeful streak…….. The tension of these two and when they finally….can’t fight it any longer. This might be my favorite Tarnished Angel couple to date!

Review: I enjoyed this book. I love an age gap relationship. Especially when the older gentleman is in a mc. The fact that the attraction was immediate❤ The FMCs family was loving, and I really felt like I was a part of the family. I want to have four older brothers who will throw down for me. The MMCs friends pushing him towards the FMC❤ Everyone but the daughter seeing the attraction between her bestie and her father was surprising to me, but I get it.
If you are looking for an age gap romance done right with a bit of suspense---this is the one for you. ***************************************************************************** FOLLOW ME ON: INSTAGRAM📢 https://www.instagram.com/bibliodarling/
I don’t think I’ve ever given an Emma Slate less than four stars, but here we are and I feel the need to explain.
It’s not a bad book, at all. In fact, it’s written just the way I’d expect an Emma Slate book to be written. Smoke is a badass and so is Logan, but Fire & Frenzy is lacking in the fire and frenzy department. It’s not even until the last quarter (maybe even the last fifth) of the story that the major event happens to solidify their relationship (and that’s not a spoiler, if you disagree, you really need to read more romance books). It’s all back and forth, the will they/won’t they, keeping it a secret from the best friend/daughter. Normally that’s all right up my alley, but to be completely honest, this book had to jump major hurdles from the start for me to love it and it fell flat.
I don’t mind an age gap romance, but the best friend’s dad trope gives me the ick and really, I just couldn’t wait to be done with it. There were plenty of times I was able to push the trope out of my head, to enjoy the story and catch up with some of my favorite characters, but then someone would mention the best friend/daughter aspect and it took me right out of it.
My only other gripe is the timeline of it all. The timeline of the series is advanced for each couple/pairing with each book, but with the next one, we start in the middle of it all. For example, Brooklyn is still pregnant three books later, Willa is also pregnant, Sutton and Viper aren’t married yet despite having a wedding at their end of their book, Darcy is still dealing with her pain in the bottom of a bottle two books later (which totally understandable), but we’re also starting a whole new story? I’m not asking for everything to be tied up in a neat little bow, but messing with the timeline like this is confusing and slightly annoying.
🫶🏼 HEA: Yes ✖️ Multiple POVs: No, only one chapter from the MMC's POV 💁🏻♂️ Hero: Smoke 💁♀️ Heroine: Logan 🤥 Cheating: Yes, FMC's ex cheats
This is NOT my first book by this author.
Just a taste: Logan finds out her fiancee is cheating so she decides to move with her BFF to Texas. Right before they were set to leave her BFF gets a call from her job that she needs to fly out and start ASAP so that leaves Logan to travel with her BFF's Dad down to Texas from Vegas and this is where our story begins.....
My thoughts:
All of Emma's books are well written ✍🏼 they all have the sweet moments in them but still with some action and this book is no exception.
Emma's books, for me, are on the softer side of the MC Romance world 🌎 If you like MC Romances but you might like your MMC's without any OW drama then you will enjoy Emma's books. These men are devoted and they will do anything to make sure their women are happy 🙂
I also love that Emma makes sure all of the women in the club are all supported and there is a good support system for them ♥️
All in all, this book was a wonderful read and I highly recommend Emma's books to anyone who wants to get into MC Romance ♥️
Omg i loved this book. This is Smoke and Logan’s story. The book gripped my interest from the very beginning. Smoke is Logan’s best friend’s father. The chemistry between Smoke and Logan is off the charts. Their relationship was full of witty and snarky banter and i absolutely loved it. Logan decides to move to Waco with her best friend after finding her fiance, Knox cheating on her. There is instant attraction from the first meeting. How will they navigate this ‘relationship’ that seems to be filled with outside problems. What happens when this ‘fun’ relationship becomes something more? How will Smoke’s daughter react to her father dating her best friend? Logan begins to receive nasty messages from Knox. What will happen to resolve this situation? I loved Logan’s parents and brothers. I laughed out loud at their scenes. I hope we get to see more of them in future stories and that they all get their HEA at some point. I am intriguied by Rachel and Logan’s brother, Chase interaction after so many years apart. I cannot wait to find out what happens between them. I would have liked to see the revealing of the truth of Smoke and Logan relationship to the elderly couple they met at the beginning on paper instead of just mentioned. Their interaction at their first meeting was so funny and sweet at same time. I cannot wait for the next book in this series and meet all these characters again. They feel like family to me now. I received an ARC of the book from the author. I volunatrily read and reviewed this book. This is my honest review.
Another triumph from Emma. I couldn't put this down once I started reading. What do you do when you find your fiance is cheating? You up sticks and move to another town with your best friend Tavy. Logan is ready to leave everything behind, move in with her friend and forget about the bad relationship she has left behind. Tavy's Dad, Smoke, comes to help them pack and he and Logan set out on a road trip while Tavy flies ahead. A storm and a forced stop at a motel with a single room left for the night and the off the chart heat between the two starts a fire that is only intended to last one night, to work out Logan's demons. The two can't deny the attraction is more than they bargained for and head home where they try to hide their feelings from everyone, especially Tavy. A couple of sensitive issues are raised through the story and although not easy to read, Emma has dealt with them so much care as always. This story is an epic age gap and new found family story and has so many of the characters from the previous books wandering through, it's like coming home. This is another amazing addition to the Tarnished Angel series and has left me wanting so much more. I want to learn more about Savage and Bones. What about Waverley and Dylan. This is a fabulous series, every couple in it a hidden gem. I hope Emma is busy scribbling because there is so much more of the Tarnished Angels story to tell.
This is book six in the series, and I encourage you to read them in order. You can read it as a stand-alone if desired, but there are a large number of side characters from the previous stories, so the experience is enriched if you know them. The plot is all new, so you won’t be lost if you jump in here.
This is the story of Smoke and Logan. Smoke is a biker in the Tarnished Angels MC. Logan is his daughter’s best friend. He had his daughter Tavy when he was only 17, so while there is an age gap between Logan and Smoke it is not unbelievable. Especially as they are both adults. After splitting with her mother, he was estranged from his daughter for most of her life to protect her, and reconnected when the club went legit. She’s moving to be close to him and reconnect. Logan discovers her abusive fiancé is cheating and leaves with Tavy to move to Waco for a fresh start. The connection between these two was immediate, but believable. Somehow they complete each other. I love that it never felt forced, no contrived drama, no third act breakup. And as always, the Tarnished Angels family are amazing.
There’s a bit of drama with the ex. One scene of violence and attempted SA, and a miscarriage, but otherwise the story is not dark. A little bit of drama when Tavy finds out, but not drawn out or OTT. Again- believable and real. This club is family. And Tavy and Logan are lucky to have found them. The whole series is a fun ride.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "FIRE & FRENZY" I thoroughly enjoyed this story so full of humor, intrigue, steamy scenes, secrets, revenge, cheating ex's, angst, forbidden, danger, protectiveness, it's a page turner to the end. Logan catches her finance Knox cheating with a redhead he works with at the airport, her BF Tavy & her go out in Vegas get drunk, put in jail & calls Tavy's Dad Smoke who's a biker with Tarnished Angel MC to bail them out, Tavys moving to Waco to be closer to her Dad he wasn't in her life as a child. Smoke takes them to a hotel for the night Tavy gets a call to start her job earlier, Logan decided to move to Waco & be roomies with her, she & Smoke drive the truck with all their stuff but before that Logan gets a little revenge on Knox before she leaves, while on the drive things heat up between Smoke & Logan suppose to be a one night but turns out to be so much more. I definitely recommend to get this awesome story Smoke & Logan sneaking around can't get enough of each other, will her BF Tavy find out & I'd she dies will it ruin their friendship, will her & Smoke get a HEA in the end, things from his past comes back you absolutely can't miss this excellent read I loved it so good. I'm so looking forward to "LEATHER & LIES" next book can't come soon enough. AWESOME STEAMY HOT MC ROMANCE YOU CAN'T MISS 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤
I received an ARC copy in exchange for my review. FIRE & FRENZY is a continuation of the Tarnished Angel's MC series. While it isn't necessary to have read the other books in the series, I think it is helpful as the previous characters show up in parts of the story. In this book, Smoke and Logan are introduced. Logan is the best friend of Smoke's daughter so there is an age gap. Smoke is in the process of strengthing his relationship with his grown daughter, Tavy, after being dedicated to his MC while she was growing up. Events lead to Logan traveling with Smoke and their relationship starts on this trip. While they don't expect things to continue once they reach their destination, they will be in each other's lives because of Tavy and have to figure out how to be around each other. This book explores how they navigate their changing feelings for each other. I love Smoke's character and his way of dealing with their difficulties. I think the age difference is written well in Logan's immaturity at times and Smoke's patience. I would consider this a great story if you are new to the MC world, as it was very light on any dealings with the MC. There is a lot of steam and relationship conflicts but the story is pretty calm. There is a trigger warning for abuse and a miscarriage. Overall, a nice read that gives us some updates on the Tarnished Angels, too.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I loved this book. It was a pretty quick read and I didn't want to put it down. This is the sixth book in this series and the 5th book I have read of the series. I skipped the 5th book because I thought it might be too heavy. This book is probably the least MC/violent book in the series. It is much more a love story than anything. Yes there is a pretty violent scene toward the end, but we aren't dealing with other mc or cartel issues like in previous books.
Logan is the youngest of a bunch of brothers and her father was a general contractor who taught her a lot. Logan is an interior designer living in Las Vegas until she finds her fiancee cheating on her. She decides to move with her BFF Tavy to Waco, TX. Smoke, Tavy's dad, comes to Vegas to help move Tavy to Waco, but Tavy ends up having to fly to TX, so Logan and Smoke end up driving to TX together. They quickly find out that they are both extremely attracted to each other. Logan and Smoke's relationship is smoking hot, as expected. We also meet Logan's parents and brothers who add a fun dynamic to the book. Characters from previous books show up, so we get updates on them. I'm hoping there will be a series in the future about Brielle and her brothers.
Another great book in the Tarnished Angels series. This one was not as heavy as a few of the previous ones, but still had some serious currents with some things that can be triggers. As always, check those before reading.
Logan moves to Waco with her best friend Tavy after ending her engagement to a guy who cheated and was starting to get physical. Tavy flew to Waco for her job ahead of Logan. Logan rode in the moving truck with Tavy’s dad, Smoke. They hit it off and decided to get physical after the tension built for a few days. Their chemistry was off the chart, but the way they were out of bed was even better. They laughed and cried. They just got each other. But how would Tavy take it? And what if Knox made good on his threats to Logan?
The Old Ladies are my favorite group of girlfriends. I feel like family with them and the Tarnished Angel biker boys! The natural way they protect and get up in each other’s business…reminds me of the family I surround myself with. They took Logan and Tavy in without issue and made them at home. Smoke worked to not only get closer with his daughter, but also give Logan what she needed to be happy and stay with him. I can’t get enough!
I love every book of this series and the excitement seeing this book land in my kindle on release day was too much. Just like every single other tarnished angels book this was too good to put down even at 1am. The MMC Smoke is called to bail out his daughter and her best friend. Except he didn’t realise her best friend wasn’t a 6’2 guy but the women of his dreams he didn’t know he was looking for. The FMC Logan doesn’t want her best friend to move away to reconnect with her dad, when her engagement ends and she decides to follow her to a new city, she doesn’t realise she’s also following her heart in her best friends dad, who is not only a biker but 17 years older than her. I loved the story with this book, the characters as always are strong and relatable, I really loved how easily and open Logan and Smoke were whenever they were talking even when it came to heavy stuff. Everything about them just screamed, meant to be, and as always this book had banter and comedy that had me physically laughing at the sass. I love this books, I love this series I can’t wait for the next! 5⭐️3🌶️
This booked dropped in my inbox on Christmas Eve as an ARC copy. I couldn’t wait to get started!! Yet again Emma Slate has created a couple that you just can’t help fall in love with.
When Logan finds out her fiancé is cheating on her just months before her wedding she enlists her best friend and goes out on the town ending up in a bit of bother with the police. Along comes Smoke, her best friends dad, who is in town to help Tavy (the best friend) move from Vegas to Waco where he plans on building a relationship with his estranged daughter. Logan decides to follow her best friend to Waco to start a new life and escape the ex! Smoke and Logan can’t deny their attraction to each other when they are on a 2/3 day road trip with the moving truck containing all Tavy’s belongings.
Smoke is the forbidden fruit. The best friend’s dad and bad boy biker who is 17 years older than Logan. He’s protective, attentive and supportive.
Logan is a fiery young woman, slightly inexperienced and weighed down heavily by the actions of her ex-fiancé.
This book has some strong topics and triggers but like all Emma’s books kept me wanting to keep reading.
