In 2009, David Coderre asked me to review his book . At the time I was one of the best known ACL users in the world and had spoken at two ACL Annual Conferences.
For those who do not know, ACL is the principle rival of Idea within the Computer Aided Audit Tools and Techniques profession.
While I still use ACL, I am now learning Idea. Idea is more of a traditional computer language than ACL and based upon VBA. If you are familiar with VBA or Object Oriented Programming, then this book probably will not benefit you too much.
If you are not familiar with VBA or Object Oriented Programming and need to learn Idea, then this book can be beneficial. It is not much more than the IDEA online help (which is why it is no longer in print) but it lays out the concepts and methodology in a manner in which the non-programmer can understand.
This is a very niche book, but if you are need help to understand IdeaScript, then I do recommend it.
