Alfred Abraham Knopf Sr. (September 12, 1892 – August 11, 1984) was an American publisher and co-founder of Alfred A. Knopf, Inc.
From its launch in 1915, Alfred A. Knopf, Inc., was a joint husband-wife venture between Alfred and his wife Blanche Wolf Knopf who's role increased to director and then vice president.
The Knopfs' son Alfred A. Knopf Jr. left the company in 1959 to found Atheneum Publishers.
