This version of events differs from other retellings of it during the novels as it's told from a 15-year-old Damali and 17-year-old Carlos' perspective as opposed to them as adults looking back or re-living the memories. The story takes place some time between November 1997 and August 1998.

With many awards to her credit, Banks also held a masters of fine arts degree in film and media arts from Temple University. She lived in Philadelphia with her family until she passed away on the morning of August 2, 2011.

I forgot about this little nugget. This Sampler is what made me follow all the series. I love the illustrations. The artist captured each character.
