Even if it takes an eternity, he will make amends... FEAR FACTOR Cordelia's getting her first big break -- as a contestant on yet another twist on "reality programming." The catch? She has to spend five days and four nights in a so-called haunted house. Not a problem for a girl who lives with a ghost and works with a vampire (and even managed to graduate from Sunnydale High School in one piece). She's a shoo-in. But there may be more going on behind the scenes than Cordy anticipated. On her first night, she's wracked with a vision -- and it's one of the applicants who didn't make the final cut. Through subtle on-air clue-dropping, she manages to communicate the scenario to Angel and Co., who are instantly on the case. But as Angel, Wesley, and Gunn seek the missing actress, paranormal activity in the house heats up. Once Wolfram and Hart is added to the mix, Cordelia has to wonder which she would rather hold onto -- her ticket to certain stardom...or her life...

This is a tie-in novel for the television show Angel, the spin-off from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It's one of the best Cordelia-centric books of the long-running series, in which she's selected to take part in a reality show set in a haunted house. She needs to get information out to Angel and the gang, but she's cut off from outside communication and has to subtly signal them as part of her live tv role. It's very well done with some clever bits and gets even weirder when those Wolfram & Hart baddies get involved. It's a fun, quick read, with several shout-out cameos for fans.
Cordelia is a cast member on a reality TV show in a haunted house. The crew stages some haunted things to make for some exciting TV but it turns out there’s something actually evil haunting the house.
It’s a premise I don’t really like to be honest, but it’s a solid and well written haunted house horror story.
I love anything to do with the Buffyverse/Angelverse but I couldn't help but be alittle bored :(
Think I read this as a teen and I remembered loving it.
One of the things I liked was the author captured Team Angel's members' personalities and I could visualize this quite well.
Unfortunately, not the best from the Angel novels as it didn't grab my attention as I had hoped even the premise of Cordy being stuck inside a horror haunted house all the while trying yet again to hit it big in the entertainment business but on her first day has a vision with someone in trouble.
This could've been an Angel episode, I can't put my finger on it, but something was missing, some parts dragged out unnecessarily, others I couldn't put it down and the ending was anticlimactic.
This book is based on the television series. In this one, Cordelia is participating in a television reality show. This show takes place in a haunted house and the contestants must stay there for a week.
This novel is a nice entry in this universe and I could picture this as an episode. I thought the author stayed true to the characters and when writing a media tie in fiction novel I believe this to be half the battle. There were also two minor plot lines that eventually intertwined with the main story line and the execution of this was done flawlessly.
This was a quick enjoyable read and one does not have to be a fan of the show to enjoy. Being a fan does help especially with a cameo appearance from a character that was a real nice touch. If you are looking to revisit old friends this novel provides that experience.
This is probably my favourite Angel novel I've read so far, combining a few elements I love - namely a haunted house and reality television! Cordelia setting out on a spooky haunted house side mission was great for me, and at first I found the missing girls subplot featuring Angel, Wes and Gunn to be a little uninteresting, and really just wanted an entire book of Cordy in Haunted Big Brother.
About midway through I started getting a liiiiittle tired of the slightly convoluted plot and wasn't entirely sure how all the moving parts would come together, but actually by the end it wound up being quite a satisfying little puzzle! Bravo!
Not the best Angel book - even with a haunted house it wasn't creepy enough for me. It has a very simple writing style as if aimed at 10-12 year olds unlike the TV show: "With each hand she held a different woman's arm, which she hoped to use to lead them to some other part of the house." And Angel's visit to Lilah was very weird! But still a great story idea - a reality show used as a front for another Wolfram and Hart evil scheme!
Still have this not donated yet.
