I purchased this book to help with a coding project for DE. I really only needed some help with syntax, and I was able to make everything work with this book as reference material. The scope is rather small but MatLab is a huge program capable of more commands than one could expect to read about in a book of this size. I did appreciate the examples and explanations of syntax although there were some significant errors present even in the code blocks!.

A quick read. Scope is very elementary. There are many typos and inconsistencies that can be a distraction. Would make more sense to a physicist/engineer with prior knowledge of special functions. The book could have also used a section on image analysis.

I read and did the "quizzes" for Chapters 1-9 (up to page 219) for a graduate class. The information is good but the book is rife with typos. And not grammatical errors or spelling problems, but typos in the MATLAB coding syntax, which rather defeats the purpose of the text.

The book could also benefit from a chart with commands and their syntax.

Useful as a refresher for MATLAB, but only for those who are critical readers and understand something about the science used as examples.
