Most managers, supervisors, and team leaders realize the importance of team building, but just can't seem to find the time in their busy schedules. These activities make the job fast, easy, fun, and effective, no matter how hectic their schedules. Each activity can be conducted in 15 minutes or less, and requires no special facilities, big expenses, or previous training experience. Exercises are presented in just a few pages with all of the relevant information, including a list of materials needed, the purpose of the exercise, and handy tips for success - all highlighted for easy reference. The writing style is friendly, with no jargon, and includes special guidance for virtual teams whose members are in different locations but must work as a unit.
Conceptually, I liked this book a lot. I was specifically looking forward to it because it mentioned tips for virtual teams.
Realistically, these activities (maybe 1 or 2 out of the 50) will actually work for me.
I know my circumstance is unique in that I am working with a very small, half remote and half local team but I was still hoping to find something for discussion points and found that most of these won't be used.
I really liked to first part of explaining how to use the materials and how to help keep an excerise from being a flop. what is also beneficial is a good portion of the exercises don't require any materials.
Great team-building ideas that mostly stay away from stupid and annoying ones we've all done in the past. Lots of ideas to use, with specific objectives for each activity.
