"One of the most vile and horrific villains in the SPAWN mythology Billy Kincaid...now, simply called KINCAID. But his new campaign to murder is more than it seems. Like everyone else in SPAWN'S UNIVERSE...battle lines have been drawn, and all-out war is about to be unleashed."
Todd McFarlane is a Canadian comic book artist, writer, toy manufacturer/designer, and media entrepreneur who is best known as the creator of the epic occult fantasy series Spawn.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, McFarlane became a comic book superstar due to his work on Marvel Comics' Spider-Man franchise. In 1992, he helped form Image Comics, pulling the occult anti-hero character Spawn from his high school portfolio and updating him for the 1990s. Spawn was one of America's most popular heroes in the 1990's and encouraged a trend in creator-owned comic book properties.
In recent years, McFarlane has illustrated comic books less often, focusing on entrepreneurial efforts, such as McFarlane Toys and Todd McFarlane Entertainment, a film and animation studio.
In September, 2006, it was announced that McFarlane will be the Art Director of the newly formed 38 Studios, formerly Green Monster Games, founded by Curt Schilling.
McFarlane used to be co-owner of National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers but sold his shares to Daryl Katz. He's also a high-profile collector of history-making baseballs.
Somehow the Spawn comic are always something that I enjoy looking at, the art is always very dark, but not enjoy reading much. The story is always lacking something. I will give number 3 a chance and if not I'm dropping this series. not that it's bad, but just prove to me that Spawn comic aren't for me!
Toddy really needs to hire someone to proof read these books as the spelling mistakes and simple grammatical errors are pretty horrendous, *and* a weekly occurrence.
Well I never read a single issue until 2021. After watching much of the HBO animated series Spawn I decided I had to get into the book.
King Spawn #1 was the first story I ever read.
Since then I've collected the first 50 issues in the Spawn Compendium trade and issues from 310 to 321 as well as Spawn Universe #1.
Later this month Gunslinger #1 and Scorched #1 will be on my shelf.
I'm still so new to this world, learning all the characters and plot is exciting and the quality even way back in early 90s with Spawn 1 thru 6 is so high. Todd Mcfarlane really has created, drawn and written a beautifully tragic cautionary tale about the importance of guarding our very soul.
Ah ! Et ! Oh! C’est déjà fini?!
4.0 Stars. I got into Spawn a few months back & I can most definitely say that I'm glad I did. Spawn, King Spawn & Gunslinger Spawn aren't gonna change your life, but what they are gonna do is entertain you. I'm loving all the Spawn books, good solid stories that get their hooks in you and leave you looking forward to the next installment with great enthusiasm. Plus, not counting the first issue of the two new Spawn books, all three books are priced at $2.99. $2.99 and come with the really nice and heavy Card Stock covers! I think they're some of the funnest books on the shelves. Highly recommend!
A edgy follow up to the first install and it didn’t disappoint. The story flowed well and left me wanting more at the end as it did feel a little short. The artwork was edgy and building of the plot that would probably see spawn caught amongst his own web of demons, can’t wait for 3.
