Whether a feature or a bug, I mostly lean feature, every volume of Last Game is pretty much exactly like the previous. The admission by Amano that their desire was to produce an over-the-top shojo makes it pretty clear where the needle is.
This time out it’s the fancy party and Kujou is avoiding Yanagi and general mayhem ensues. Souma, useless rival, continues to be a useless rival, but I admit that his schtick of trying to conceal his country roots is growing on me. His ranting about eating taters in the sticks was excessively funny.
Kujou kicks some butt herself by taking down a bully and then also gets a hand from Yanagi. Then there’s hotpot and lots of sparkles, some fourth wall breaking about sparkles, all the usual things. And also one instance of charming blood vomit? Maybe.
Finally, a rival for Yanagi shows up and ingratiates herself into the astrology club and I do love how the club president has her number in around five seconds flat. There is some pretty amusing comedy to all this - I wouldn’t say it’s laugh out loud, but there are a lot of chuckles to be mined from it.
I wouldn’t recommend this as a starting point for shojo, but as an example of it taken to its extremes, it’s pretty fun. Both Yanagi and Kujou are two very silly fish that I enjoy watching flounder.
On the downside, all that mayhem comes at a price and it can be brutally tough to tell who is saying what to whom from where sometimes (the party chapters are a muddle and change). It’s not the most elegant plotting.
And my usual bias against one-shots remains intact with a good 50 pages or so taken up with a ninja love story that’s cute enough, but not a patch on the main story that I’m actually here for.
3 stars - a good 3; it exists in its genre and, while never exceeding it, takes it to some ridiculous endpoints. Fun and cozy.
I can't with this series... it's just so cute!!! >< I love Yanagi so much, as well as Kujou, and Souma.. honestly everyone!! They are all just done so well, and the art style is so adorable, it makes me love it even more. The more ship-y scenes of Kujou and Yanagi in this book were way too sweet, I found myself smiling so uncontrollably, and I love getting more of Souma's backstory. This story is very fluffy, I really really enjoy it... I would totally recommend!
(This book contains adult references, language, alcohol and some (comical) blood. I would give it a rating of PG-13)
It is a very heart warming manga. The story is about Yanagi who is always first in everything plus he is a Rick and handsome brat. But suddenly a girl named Kujou is transferred to his primary school and turns out she is first in everything. So to defeat her and come first he start persuing her and they have a last game.
The story continues in the same cute and light-hearted way. It’s still fun, though I do feel like things are starting to feel a little stagnant. Not much has changed, but the charm is still there, and I’m definitely still enjoying it enough to keep reading.
On en parle 2 secondes de cette couverture beaucoup trop belle??? Ils sont trop mims. Après j’attends un peu plus de développement car c’est très classique pour le moment.
A very innocent manga series, very, very decent and sweet. A young, rich, beloved spoiled boy who comes first in all games, sports, class, tests is defeated by a poor, low class girl that looks plain boring. He is absolutely angry when he sees that she came first in everything that he used to come first in. He made it his life's goal to defeat this girl and made her his rival. However, the girl lives most of the time alone because her mom works in the hospital at night shifts. One day, Yanagi (the boy) falls unconscious on his way to cram school and Kujou (girl) finds him and bring him to her house. She cooks for him and he insults her but then he gets to know about her family and how her dad died and she wants to quickly become independent on her own efforts. This touches Yanagi a lot, to know that she wants to do something on her own, so different from him who did everything with the influence of the title of his family, he was spoiled and got lots of cram schools and teachers at home to tutor him. He removed all of them and there was a very good, positive change in him. This is the thing I loved the most.
Then one day, he plans to make her fall in love with him and then he would reject her => Ultimately her failure and him winning for once in life against Kujou. But the thing is, Kujou has no clue as to what love is and what going out means. Will Yanagi make her fall in love with him just like he has been falling for her slowly?
See! I told you, very innocent and sweet! I enjoyed it! Look forward to rest of the chapters!
