Vibrational Medicine has gained widespread acceptance by individuals, schools, and health-care institutions nationwide as the textbook of choice for the study of alternative medicine. Trained in a variety of alternative therapies as well as conventional Western medicine, Dr. Gerber provides an encyclopedic treatment of energetic healing, covering subtle-energy fields, acupuncture, Bach flower remedies, homeopathy, radionics, crystal healing, electrotherapy, radiology, chakras, meditation, and psychic healing. He explains current theories about how various energy therapies work and offers readers new insights into the physical and spiritual perspectives of health and disease.
Richard Gerber, MD, received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and devoted his life to furthering research and clinical applications in the pioneering field of energy-based medicine. He is highly respected for his 25 years of progressive research into alternative methods of diagnosis and healing. He practiced internal medicine near his home in Livonia, Michigan, and lectured throughout America. Dr. Gerber's book Vibrational Medicine is regarded as the definitive and most in-depth survey of energetic and alternative healing methods in print. He also wrote A Practical Guide to Vibrational Medicine and Vibrational Medicine for the 21st Century.
Originally read in 1996-7, I was privileged to meet & speak w/the author, Dr. Richard Gerber. I have a personally autographed copy & he is one of the most fascinating people I have ever met. He ties together so many concepts, beliefs & truths one simply must read it to appreciate it. My copy is all marked up w/notations & I still dip into it regularly... a must-own & read over as needed. Many thanks, Dr. Gerber.
Excellent read. Although I believe in the new age arts I am still very logical and often have a hard time reconciling the two. Richard Gerber went back to the science, which I just happened to complete my education in, and connected the two. Quantum physics explains so much of the energy around us and how it connects us all. In this book the left and right side of my brain finally found common ground.
My copy of this book is so completely annotated and dog-eared!! So much information in this brilliant work!! Highly recommend if you have any interest in alternate or complementary healthcare.
As we enter the 21st century, the nature of healthcare is shifting dramatically. Many scientists and leading-edge thinkers now believe that human beings are more than biological machines with parts that age and wear down, only to be treated by drug therapy and surgery. A number of pioneering researchers embrace a new view of healing called vibrational medicine that combines the best of ancient healing love with a modern view of the body as an energy machine affected by many alternative techniques and treatments.
Dr. Richard Gerber is a traditionally trained western physician who is also one of the leading researchers and practitioners of vibrational medicine. In his new book, designed for lay readers, he takes us on a comprehensive journey to the new frontier of medicine where he presents the body as a complex, integrated life-energy system that houses our soul and all its creative expressions explores the role of consciousness and "thought-forms" in health and illness describes the benefits of the main vibrational healing modalities, including homeopathy, acupuncture, Chinese medicine, flower essences, color and light healing, magnetobiology, radionics and distant healing, and varieties of hands-on healing.
The dozens of notes I've made throughout this book attest to how provocative I found it. Gerber's diagrams and charts were helpful to me. In fact, there are several I have pulled out for use with clients.
Of all the books I've read on energy medicine so far, this is one of the most valuable ones to me, and it is already 20 years old. I am eager to read the newer ones to see how the knowledge base has expanded.
A great primer in the science of biophotonics (photoluminescence and chemiluminescence) presents a splendid transition from the Newtonian concept of health to the quantum wholeness model complete with a excellent resource guide and diagram’s. A must read.
Absolutely intriguing scientific evidence to support the often sneered upon methodology of working with and proving the existence of energetic bodies and energetic healing. It goes to show that things your logical mind rolls its eyes at and write off without investigating can be extremely worthwhile and plausible if only you have an open mind. He lays this book as a foundation for which hopefully other doctors or researchers can build upon. Unfortunately, he died in 2007 (I believe that year) so there can be no more updated installments from the author himself.
One criticism I can offer is that Gerber tends to repeat his point multiple times to ensure you understand the concept within a given chapter. Often I find what he says redundant, sometimes in frustration because of the dry scientific writing style. It takes a little bit of effort I find to process his writings purely because they are a bit more on the academic side versus say a Harry Potter or Stephanie Meyers book.
There are some things that seem really "out there"--the Atlantis section comes to mind--but I've learned to not discount anything for absolute certain..At least within the confines of this book. I do discount the Pastafarian Spaghetti Monster oddly enough. ;)
This is a super comprehensive book. As I read, I looked up numerous of the many, many resources and experts the author referenced.
I stalled after reading the first 3 chapters - so much to absorb and quite technical. The next number of chapters I was quite in the zone and enscones in the material. The later chapters I felt repeated concepts unnecessarily often (from the same and previous chapters) and perhaps could have been condensed. I started skim reading a little as concepts were repeated.
Still, overall, this book blew me away. I am impressed at the author’s bringing together SOOOO much material, and his understanding (and simplification) of numerous scientific and technical concepts. And, I’ve found a handful of other books to read and continue to stoke my fascination on this topic.
A recommended read if you want to find out more about how energy / your energy bodies / vibrational medicine etc work.
The concept of negenthropy is a phenomenal departure from the order to decay idea and essential in order to comprehend the rejuvenative forces at play in regenerative healing such as the rebuilding of tissue in wounds, it will be decades before conventional western medical science catches up with the quantum or indeed will begin to acknowledge the extant life force in all living things. Until then we are merely to them decaying machines of flesh, gristle, bones and fluids unfortunately.
I picked this up years ago after I became interested in eastern medicine to help with doe of my energy/anxiety issues. This is a great book on alternative healing therapies including acupuncture and some other stuff. It's quite interesting and has a lot history on techniques both new and old. It just goes to show you Western medicine doesn't know everything
For everyone who feels betrayed by western medicine and who is interested in alternative medicine I think this is a great introduction.
Nikola Tesla famously said, "If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration." If you already understand this quote then you might already know what’s in the book, if not then maybe give it a read.
It provides a paradigm shift of how we view the world and especially how we view medicine. Lots of the claims lack strong evidence. It’s up to you if you want to believe it or not. Some will call it a conspiracy theory or disproven or not scientific. Others will say that powerful people spent a lot of time and money to suppress this data since it didn’t fit current dogma. In my opinion the details might be fuzzy maybe right or maybe wrong but the overall story is too compelling to ignore.
The chapters at the beginning and the end are the best. Had to subtract a star for the stuff in the middle. It’s like the author wrote the same paragraph 3 different ways but forgot to only the best of the 3 and instead included all of them. It made it quite verbose. The intro and conclusion have the main ideas and thought provoking experiments. I will likely have to read elsewhere for more on individual treatments.
This book was from 1988 and I think this edition is from 2001. It’s a bit old. I’m sure this was amazing back in the day but now that we have the internet, brand new cancer treatments, 20 years of science, etc all of this feels a bit dated. Minus one more star.
It was interesting to hear about things like the voll machine and similar measuring tools as it sounds very similar to the qest4. The qest4 is like the high tech version that came out 20 years later. FWIW I tried it and found it quite remarkable though many people would easily dismiss it. I think it’s still 30-40 years ahead of its time. It was also interesting to hear Heartmath mentioned. The company now has about 30 years of research and is still around and has some consumer devices now for measuring heart coherence. FWIW I also tried this and found it quite remarkable. I think it’s still 10 years ahead of its time though it’s time is rapidly coming considering we’ve crossed major milestones with wearables and Hrv.
This book talks about many other things more familiar to the common joe like acupuncture, homeopathy, crystals, and sound therapy. These are cheap, readily accessible, and have limited if any negative side effects - certainly much less than a western diet or western prescription medicine. I think will be exploring these options more - easiest way to know if they are legit or pseudoscience is to try them.
At a minimum I hope the reader of this book walks away with a lot more to think about. This book presents many paradigm shifts and if any of them are true it will change the way you view the world forever. I think this makes it worth a read. Whether you believe it or not is a choice you can make after reading.

After going down the rabbit hole of the damage from manmade EMFs, I then naturally turned to healing frequencies as the other side of that coin. Most of the books in that realm are a little "woo-woo" for me, but this was written by an MD, so I thought I'd give it a try. For about half of it, it absolutely did not disappoint, postulating physical correlates for what had long been otherwise relegated to the "spirit" realm (I was especially impressed with the explanation for what an aura actually is, and how one can photograph it!) I skipped over the sections on homeopathy and Bach flower remedies since I use those all the time--long ago I wrestled with whether there was anything to that, decided there was, and have more or less satisfied myself with the mechanism of how it works (to the extent that it can be known at this point).
Later on in the book, it kind of went off the rails in my view, considering any and every esoteric philosophy in human history as equally valid. I do have a problem with believing in non-falsifiable ideas (I'm a Christian for, I think, very rational reasons; now I accept it as a foundation for everything I can't prove, because it has otherwise been proven trustworthy). That said, it made me think... I suspect most of the long-held energy medicine approaches rooted in alternative religions actually correspond to a physical phenomenon, and perhaps specifically, to the flow of electrons in the body (and the subsequently generated electric and magnetic fields).
Well, it couldn't get new agier than this.I read 'The Body Electric' and found it fascinating, so I thought this could be the next step. Of course this book is outdated, even though it has been re-edited in 2007. I'm sure there is more research been done, especially in meditation, and acupuncture, which are the most credible parts of this book. The theory provided, is fascinating, and partly a least probably right, concerning energy bodies etc.But who knows? I am fascinated about this stuff, and have done yoga for 20 yrs, and I know it effects you 'holistically', but still, we don't have the methods to record the changes in etheric body. The much mentioned Voll machine does not do it for me. So, there is a lot of hypothesis and hopeful thinking. Which is not all bad, you have to step out of the box to get new ideas and broaden your horizons. I was hoping more proof, though. There are parts that just went over my head- the whole history of Atlantis- twice in the book- and that the whole gemstone/flower essence tradition comes from channeling! There was no mention that anybody has tried to verify these findings. I would be interested what kind of properties gems really have, but have hard time taking seriously the so called information provided by one channeller only. Also, my personal irritation is the use of word crystal/crystallization for anything - very common in 1990's new age, and hopefully being put into it science use again.
A bit too heavy on the metaphysical plane of things, even for an open-minded skeptic such as myself, and a bit too conversational in writing style. A lot of interesting information, to be sure, but some parts were just too bizarre to swallow (seeing angels in the courtroom during a trial was not something that could really convince me about the validity of the book's claims).
One of my favorite books on understanding energy and frequency and how it affects the human body. A little difficult to get through - heavy reading - but well worth it. It presents a whole new approach to understanding health and sickness as it relates to energy
Richard Gerber takes difficult subject matter and makes it easy to understand. Each topic builds on the next. I've listened to the audio book of this as well. If you're interested in alternative medicine, you'll enjoy this book. I've read many other books as a result of becoming interested in specific topics covered in this book.
Explanations of healing modalities that are based on energies, energy medicine. Excellent reference. Audio tapes by the author on this subject are much easier to grasp than reading the book. Both are excellent, though.
