3.5 stars A very entertaining story - two endearing protagonists and a simple but emotional friends to lovers romance. Workaholic-businessman H who is in denial of his "cowboy" roots plans to sell his ranch, where the h works as foreman to put a painful past behind him. But surprise-surprise: on his way he happens to see the h bathing naked in a pond and.... all his brotherly feelings go to hell! No need to say that our h has been in love with him since ALWAYS; their passion is sizzling (and emotional), he has a hard time accepting commitment but then starts pursuing the h to marry ASAP. And here our h shows all her "bravery": she wants real love, made of passion but also friendship/empathy/companionship. He will change his ways7his mind on selling the ranch and will stop denying his roots and drama of the past (murder of both H/h's father). A special mention to good side characters (typical of a US small town, as I imagine it). Nothing new but really nicely done.

This was sweet actually... I wasn't sure half way through if I was enjoying it but I did end up quite liking this. They were childhood friends really united when their father's are murdered together but also they move away from each other because of their grief. I liked him, I thought he was a nice character, didn't take him long to realise he loved her but took longer to get her to believe it.
3.5 stars rounded up. A good story, but darn it moved way too fast. Literally went from 0 to 60 with the characters. One minute the hero doesn't notice her all, and the next he's deep in love with her. Hmm. All the love scenes' endless 'purple prose' made me take off a star too. Still overall, not a bad book.
The Man Who Had Everything is a western romance by Christine Rimmer. Grant and Stephanie's story is packed with past heartbreak, sizzle and drama. Their story is book 1 of the Striking It Rich Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliffhanger.
I read a paperback copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Stephanie Julen is determined to show longtime friend and crush Grant Clifton that he doesn't have everything life has to offer....yet. When he catches her cooling off naked in a pond, she sees the hunger in his eyes and knows now is her chance to finally get him to look at her in a woman way and not the annoying little sister way.
Grant can't believe the beautiful woman in front of him is little Steph. With 11 years distance between them, he's always seen her as a little thang. Now, though his hormones are flying and suddenly all the women he has throwing themselves at him doesn't hold any appeal.
Trying to get Grant to believe she's willing to not expect anything from whatever happens between them doesn't work, because after just a few times together, Stephanie has already fallen even more in love with him.
Putting distance between him and Steph is the only way Grant can protect his feelings. After both he and Steph lost their fathers at the same time, Grant didn't know if his mother would survive and to this day, she doesn't return to the farm. Grant doesn't want to be that dependent on a woman and fears he will with Steph.
But it's too late. Grant can't stop his want for Steph, so what's his solution? Marriage of course! Although that's what Stephanie has always dreamed of, but the way he proposed made her feel he was doing it out of necessity rather than love.
Demanding a yes or no answer, Steph agrees....for a December wedding....5 months away.
Now, Grant's made over her putting the off what he just wants to 'get done' but Stephanie's holding out hope that by December she can figure Grant out and fix all their problems.
Just when Stephanie's plan works and Grant finally realizes what his feelings truly are, he may never get to tell Stephanie that he loves her. While driving home, Steph is carjacked and held at gunpoint. The carjacker makes her drive to Grant's resorts in order to demand money from him in return of Steph.
Luckily Grant hears his hotel door key unlocking and when he gets a warning feeling, makes the necessary call to have security quickly arrive just after he apprehends the suspect.
Now, Grant knows to make the most of every minute with Stephanie and agrees to wait for December, the month both their parents got married in.
Take a ranch, two people who've known each other all their lives, a man still feeling guilty that he's no longer living on the ranch that's been in his family for five generations and a woman who is running the place now. Add a beautiful woman who wants to buy the place and turn it into a guest ranch. Shake gently but with enthusiasm.
Then shock the man into recognizing that the little girl he's always known has grown up into a beautiful woman. She's always loved him; he's vowed never to love anyone like his mother loved his dad. Too bad the man just doesn't get how he's already lost his heart to the woman, who admits her love but refuses to marry him for several months--a time long enough, she hopes, for him to realize that he loves her, too.
The crisis that opens the man's eyes is well done and worth waiting for.
This is a formulaic but entertaining romance. Stephanie is a really great character--strong and determined. Grant is a little less likable at first, but he comes around in the end. Their love story is rocky but interesting and the setting is wonderful, but there are too many unexplained back stories, and the subplot involving the hired hand seemed a bit contrived. Friend gave me this one in some she had packed back. And older book, but really enjoyed it.
Grant and Steph had know each other for years. He had always had thought of as the kid. Steph had loved him for years, but took him forever to realize she was a grown woman now.
Can his feelings chance from her being like a kid sister, to someone he could fall in love with? Years ago had decided would never marry.
lighthearted but typical Harlequin story - older experienced man falls for young inexperienced woman he's known his whole life. Suddenly he views her in a new light and can't imagine his life without her (with a little pushing and prodding). Makes for a quick read!
The writing was fine, but the editing was very disappointing. Isn't the whole point of buying books by an established publisher like Harlequin that I don't have to deal with finding mysterious 7s in the middle of words?
Steph has lived Grant since forever. Grant finally sees Steph as a woman and the the attraction just grows. A great story with well written characters.
Another book finished. This was a pretty good love story, but a little predicable in how it was going to turn out. There were a few unexpected parts as well, but overall could guess the ending.
