FROM A MODEL EMPLOYEE... For ten years Faith Jones had waited for Price Montgomery to see her as anything but the efficient employee she was. For ten years she'd kept not only his house, but his secrets--all the while hoping that one day he would see her as a woman, not a worker.
...TO A BRIDE IN TRAINING? But time was up--and Faith was ready to call it quits. And suddenly Price was noticing that his prim and proper housekeeper had a softer side. One he'd like to get to know better--if only he could convince her to stay. After all, good help is so hard to find....

Sometimes I "need" to read romances with a sweet undertone.... C. Rimmer is an "expert" in sweetness; this is a simple story of an unrequited love, a long working relationship/friendship between an emotionally scarred H and a (apparently) strong heroine. She quits because she cannot stand to be in close contact with a man that will never love her. He is furious because he is losing a great employee and a good friend... only friend? I know some aspects of the story are not believable; nevertheless, I really enjoyed it a lot! 🙂
I absolutely loved this story and couldn't put it down. I found this vintage silhouette book in a thrift store and am so glad i stumbled upon the author Christine Rimmer. The book is romantic, passionate, and the characters are down to earth. Faith Jones is a housekeeper who has feelings for her employer Price Montgomery. They are opposites, Faith is warm, emotional and sensitive compared to Price who is cold, distant and stern. Yet their hearts call to each other. The book has wonderful nostalgic descriptions, such as Price's mother who wears her signature scent of Tabu perfume. This novel is part of 'The Jones Gang' series, and i will endeavor to buy her other books in this series as i want to know the lives of the other characters, such as Faith's sisters who are mentioned in this book.
What the synopsis doesn't mention where it talks about h waiting for the last 10 years is that H was married with a son for atleast 3 of the 10 years and then his son died and his wife and H had problems and he was drunk, his wife was having affairs and then they divorced after 2 years. So 5/10 years he was married/mourning to even give thought to h as a lover. The h was almost 25 at that time and talked herself upto a housekeeping job and at almost 35(and of course a virgin) she quits to make way on her own and buys a rundown motel without even understanding whether she was capable of making a go of it! Despite some seriously glaring holes in the story, the book was mostly ok.
Is her business okay? What does he do for a living? Why does he live with his parents and brother? Is the brother okay? He left julliard for a girl? :/ a lot is in this book that should be explored to round out the story. Didn’t think the hero and heroine were too much in love since they didn’t really notice. Ah well.
