Ruthless businessman, heir to a publishing empire... and my new roommate?
Two hours after meeting my new boss, I share his bed. Not that way! A hotel room ceiling collapses on top of me, and he’s the handsome stranger who saves me. I’m left without a place to sleep and look like I was in a wet t-shirt contest.
Finding out later that he’s my boss is mildly humiliating. It also means I owe him one…
Phillip Loughton is determined, demanding, and competitive to a fault. He makes a stupid bet with his dad to try out life as the other 99% for a month… and I offer him my couch.
I know, I’m an idiot. But I need help with rent, and he needs a place to stay, so here we are. Just thirty days of living with my billionaire boss as my roommate. What could go wrong?
Nothing at all, as long as we follow the roommate agreement. The first rule? No kissing the boss. Except I’m learning more about Phillip by living with him than I ever would over caviar. Like how good he looks with a towel around his waist…
I broke the first rule. Now I’m breaking the don’t fall for him. But what happens when he goes back to being my boss?
Boss Agreement is a steamy standalone romance that's perfect for fans of Olivia Hayle, Nicole Snow, and Penelope Bloom. With a feisty heroine and cinnamon roll hero, there's plenty of laughs, steam, and swoon.
I’m so tired of irrational heroines, and often find myself wishing the MMC would just move on and find a nice girl who appreciates him. This was one such case.
The story was not bad for the most part, and managed to make me care about the characters. Mostly the main guy. The girl’s way too smug and superior about being poor. Sex scenes were way over the top bordering on violent. But I DNFd at 90% because the irrational female dumps the dream guy and breaks his heart because he works too hard and doesn’t come home every night at 5 and because he asked employees to work 5 hours of overtime a week for six months on a special project to save the company in exchange for year-end bonuses. This is necessary to save the company in the changing publishing industry. Any rational employees would understand the alternative would be layoffs and grateful for the reprieve and chance to prove themselves and potentially save jobs. Many people would see this as an opportunity to prove their mettle. But not Addison. She immediately dumps him and quits her job, and he grovels and apologises repeatedly (for what?) He’s been perfect all along except for being exhausted from overwork. He tells her he loves her constantly. She just ignores his texts and grinds him to dust when he shows up to grovel in person. She’s an irrational, whiny, immature diva, in spite of her thrift-store outfits she’s so smug about. I wouldn’t want her as a friend, and the hero surely deserves better. At 90% I ultimately decided I didn’t even want to read the inevitable end where she graciously accepts him back and everybody agrees what a paragon she is to give him another chance.
Although this book takes you on an emotional journey, it is also completely captivating and is a real page turner.
Addison comes from a world of scrimping and saving for the things she needs in day to day life with an unreliable mother, and Philip is the opposite coming from a rich family, with siblings and knowing he is loved.
They meet when Philip takes the room that Addison has reserved, and then the 'broom closet' she is given is then flooded and the ceiling tries to 'kill' her. Philip being the perfect gentleman offers to share his room and very large bed. Parting ways after one night, neither expects to see the other ever again.
Addison dreams of being a published author and has taken a job at a prestigious publishing house as a junior editor. Philip is wanting to live like an ordinary man for a change, and escape the pressures put on him bye his father.
Their two worlds collide when Philip meets Addison again at his father's publishing house. Agreeing to work as a junior editor and leave his apartment, credit cards and rich life behind, he relies on Addison to show him how to be normal. In turn he agrees to help her with her book.
Addison is a spitfire and full of hopes, dreams and the resources to tackle life head on. Although Philip is a sweetheart, the office only knows him as a cold and ruthless rich guy, wilding his 'axe' to cut staff and budgets at will. Thanks to Addison's kindness and willingness to show him the ropes of a normal life, he soon sees that life can be fun, and his warmer, softer and sweeter side is shown to his new colleagues.
As their relationship develops slowly, we get to meet Philip's brothers Andrew and Mason and also Addison's friends Sera and Trish who are a hoot. Hopefully more of these characters in future books.
A very enjoyable read, which will make you smile, laugh and route for Philip to wake up to himself.
Another great read from Sylvia Hart.

Boss Agreement is a billionaire boss romance that revolves around Phillip and Addison.
Addison has been poor her whole life. Her mom, though she loves her to death, is a jobhopper who keeps borrowing money from her daughter because she always thinks the grass is greener somewhere else. But now that Addison has finished college, she wants to chase her dream of becoming an editor at the most prestigious publishing house in New York, Loughton House.
To get there, she takes a road trip with an overnight stay at a cheap motel. The only problem is that her room has been double booked, and she has to share it with a very hot guy.
It will come as no surprise that that very hot guy turns out to be her new boss, who has taken on a wager with his dad that he can live like a 'normal' person for a month. No money, a poorly paid job at the company, and nowhere to stay. But sweet Addison takes him in and lets him sleep on her couch.
I love billionaire boss romances, and this one didn't disappoint, but it didn't stand out either. The first 30% of the book really sucked me in because Phillip was really trying his best to survive without being a snob (well, maybe just a little snob). He and Addison hooked up pretty quickly, and it was very steamy. But for me, that build-up to that first kiss is half the excitement, and I kind of missed that aching for each other. Around 70% of the book it started to pick up again. There was no misunderstanding that could have been easily solved. Addison left for a good reason, and Phillip really needed that heartbreak to realise what his work was costing him.
All in all, it was a good book, and I really like Sylvia's writing style. It's definitely worth reading.
I am a big fan of the billionaire trope and Sylvia always delivers and I cannot wait to see what she writes next!
Phillip just wants a break from the life of a protégé billionaire whose set to run his father's company. When you've been raised solely to inherite a huge company your whole life sometimes you just need to escape, but is escaping to a motel that should really be rated negative stars really the place to go? Will this freedom be what he's looking for to get back to what he was raised to do or will it put into motion much, much more?
Addison was stopping for a quick rest on her journey to a new start and hopefully the start to her dreams. A hotel that kept doling out one unfortunate mishap after the other (seriously negative stars!) lead Addison into having to share a motel room with a hot stranger. She'll probably never see him again but she can't think about that when she had more important things to think about, like her first day at her first real job!
This story had me giggling to myself, swooning over all the sappy moments and tearing up when things seemed rough. These characters were strong, brave, there for each other and people you'd want in your life. I loved this crazy ride from start to finish and I hope to see more of these characters in another book!

A Compelling 6-Star Read! Every once in a while, you will find a book that completely captivates you; one that is just so well written and takes you on an emotional journey that you need time from which to recover. Not because it was traumatic, but more because all of your emotions were so involved in the reading of it that it stays with you; some people call such a feeling, a book hangover. Sylvia Hart’s Boss Agreement was this book for me. I can picture myself reading this every year and never getting tired of it, it was so well-rounded. Circumstances forced me to read this in smaller increments than I would normally, but it may have been a benefit for me doing this because I got to stay in all those feelings longer. I picked up this book thinking it would be a fun rom-com, and it definitely does have that element in it, but it went so much deeper than that, without being heavy on the drama, and the author prepares you, it’s a slow build-up without ever being too angsty on the way to it. This is my first book by Sylvia Hart, it won’t be my last. I absolutely loved Boss Agreement and would give it a 6-star rating if possible. Phillip and Addison met accidentally at a crowded inn and later she finds out that he's her new boss. His super demanding father was angry that he took a weekend off and an argument leads to Phillip leaving behind his leadership role and committing to living on a pittance, at least for a month. He ends up squatting on Addison's sofa and learns a thing or two about making coffee and making ends meet. There is a physical attraction, they go on some cute dates, and he feels free for the first time in his life. But when Phillip goes back to his regular day job there are concerns whether he can shed the workaholic, ruthless boss persona fast enough to suit Addison. I enjoy the author's writing style but some of the twists surrounding Phillip and his father seemed a little contrived, hard to take for granted and at times the pace dragged a little. There are some cute, rewarding moments between the two. Her mom seemed like a total user, only calling when she needed money, although Addison didn't have much either, and it annoyed me that they rewarded her with a well-paid job in the same town. If she wasn't Addison's only family I'd have blocked her number.

Addison and Philip meet the most unconventional way: at a sold out, cheap motel. When the ceiling literally falls on top of Addison, Philip saves the day. They share a bed and the next day, he is gone. But when Addison starts her new job, who is in charge? Philip, obviously! It seems like maybe that’ll be it for them - until Philip vows to live like a normal person for a month and finds himself living on Addison’s couch.
I’m not sure how realistic it is that a billionaire would want to live like a “normal” person, but Philip’s back story provides the baseline for this plot. The poor guy has never gotten to live so when he finally gets the chance he goes all in.
Philip is adorable in that he knows everything about the business world, but nothing about real life. It is completely by chance that he ends up in a cubicle with Addison and she takes it upon herself to teach him the ways of the world. Addison helping Philip is a vehicle to the romance that ensues, but it is so sweet and innocent, sexy and fun, that it is easy to get caught up in the journey.
This was the sweetest summer read!

This is a nice love story of Addison & Phillip who meet at a hotel and she has no idea who he is, he was given her room and the room she ended up in was a nightmare when the ceiling collapsed on to her in bed so she shared the room and bed with Phillip after he rescued her. He was gone the next morning and left only his silk shirt behind that she was wearing for bed. Then on Monday morning she starts her new job and you guessed it Phillip is the billionaire in charge. Phillip seems to be going through a midlife crisis as he wants to give up his wealth and truly wants to try living a normal life to see if he can get a spark of what living means as he has been primed to run the company since he was eight and never had a life or childhood. Addison gives him her couch and this starts a month of them having fun and her teaching him how to live as a poor person. There is a rocky period when he becomes the sole owner of the company and he realises losing Addison isn’t worth the grind of running the company so he makes changes to his company to get her back and show her he isn’t his father. It’s a nice romance and they are good together and their smexy scenes are hot, he was just a little dumb on what his priorities should have been.
Addison “Addy” Adelaide was brought up by her mom who always saw the grass on the other side of the fence and ran for it. Didn’t matter if it meant no money for a few weeks to start a new job, or that Addy would have to pick up the pieces. Addison grew up counting every penny and knowing where every single one went.
Until one fateful night at a motel, a miscommunication on rooms, and a faulty pipe, brings her to sexy normal looking Phillip.
Phillip Loughton has been raised to be his father’s heir to the publishing throne. He has done nothing except work as long as he can remember. He has always yearned to do more, but never could. Until he finally worked out a weekend off of responsibilities to spend in a seedy motel for the night.
Sparks fly, and they go their separate ways. Then Addy starts her new job as junior editor and sees none other than Phillip from the motel and her new coworkers referring to him as the big boss. Then enjoy the rollercoaster. I was crying, wanted to throw my kindle across the room at times, and laughing my butt off. It’s definitely worth your time. Another great story from Sylvia Hart.
Addison and Phillip have quite an unusual initial meeting. She gets stuck in a tiny room that flood and collapses. Phillip rescues her, offering to share his room, then they go their separate ways.
When Addison arrives at her new job, to her surprise she meets Phillip Loughton again. Taking on a bet with his father, he has decided he wants to experience how the “other half” lives since he had been born to wealth and privilege. He only has to survive for a month. So he enlists Addison’s help in teaching him how to be a “normal” person. The only problem is that they have to follow a roommate agreement, no kidding, no falling in love… and so far, Addison has broken all of the rules!
The story is fun and unpredictable as the two main characters get to know each other and begin to fall in love. The author takes the reader along on their journey and it actually is fun! Grab your copy and enjoy their story to find out if they ever arrive at their HEA.
So this one has me conflicted, I liked half of it and half of it was just ok.
The first half of the book was just ok. I felt like it had some pacing issues, especially when compared to the second half. It just couldn't keep me engaged because of the pacing and the (in my opinion) redundant scenes.
I was confused by the FMC, who didn't want any handouts but went to live with the ultra rich MC after just a month of knowing eachother. It just didn't vibe with the independent way she was portrayed in the first half.
The second half of the book improved greatly. I loved the way the strain a job can have on a relationship was shown. It showed the very accurate way your relationship can be hurt despite your best efforts. This was the first time I actually completely believed the relationship between a workaholic billionaire and his girlfriend.

Absolutely amazing: What an outstanding piece of literary fiction. This book has all the feels, drama and tension that you could want and I was left completely stunned, but in a good way, by the end. I loved that it was unpredictable and unique, breaking the typical billionaire romance mold. I thought it was great how it showed the billionaire stepping down to the normal world instead of just the other person being pulled up into the lifestyle of the rich and famous. Addison and Phillip broke my heart and I thought they were perfect together. Their banter was great and I loved the dialogue and how I felt a part of every conversation as if I was right there. This was the first book in a new series and if the rest of the books are anything like this one, then we are in for a real treat. Interesting rom-com set in the world of book publishing. In really enjoyed this story of Addison – who has just achieved her dream job in publishing & Phillip – heir to the publishing house where she works. The story is told from dual pov which gives the reader insights into what the two main characters are feeling. Phillip’s father challenges him to survive without his wealth & privilege for a month (which, amusingly, he thinks will be easy!) I love how he really struggles at first until kind and gentle Addison takes pity on him! The story is a well-constructed, almost ‘coming of age’ tale with both of the protagonists learning something important from their experience, as well as falling hard for each other. Their steamy road to the eventual HEA is somewhat rocky and by no means assured which makes this an engaging and interesting read. I hope there will be follow-up stories about Phillip’s two brothers as I will definitely read them if there are!
If you are looking for a book that will give you all the feels that look no further than the Boss Agreement. This story will have you laughing, swooning, rolling your eyes, shaking your head, and fist pumping in celebration.
Told in dual POV we are introduced to Addison as she begins her journey to the job of her dreams. The meet cute between Addison and Phillip is a disaster rolled up in hilarity. From there it is a journey of discovery as they find their way through the complex maze of how to love, trust and communicate with each other. Throughout the story there is no doubt of the chemistry and love that Addison and Phillip have for each other, but they still have a few hurdles to clear before they find their HEA. A good time filler, but not the first I would reach for
Overall, this is an easy read, and while the characterisation is a bit thin at times, the characters are likable. I found the pacing of this story a little problematic in places. There are some abrupt jumps in both the plot and relationship progression at times, which makes the reader feel like they are scrambling to catch up. Some plot elements were anticlimactic, while others suddenly blew all out of proportion - usually right around when a characters motivations flip flopped. The ending felt a little too neat and contrived, given some of the struggles that occurred during the story. I have enjoyed many other books by this author, but this one didn’t quite hit the mark for me.
Full disclosure: I was given an ARC of the book, however this review is my own honest opinion.
Addison has struggle most of her life financially. Now she is done with college and hoping to get her dream job. She meets Phillip when they are booked for the same hotel room. They end up sharing it and going their own ways the next day. However, its not long before they reconnect, and Addison offers him her couch when he has nowhere to stay. Phillip has been tasked with living like a normal person with a regular job. Its not easy for him to forget about how he was living but he continued on. Will Addison forgive his lie of omission if she finds out? Will he convince her to take another chance with him?
This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

The blurb sounded promising, execution of the story fell short. I did not like Addison and couldn’t move on to complete the book. Her help came off as condescending and Phillip was too clueless. Phillip is 32 and would have had some life experience to help in the real world. College, even for a billionaire, would give some a clue on how to make coffee. Addison is 22, fresh out of college and just moved to New York. It’s is highly unlikely she wouldn’t already have a few roommates. Or a tiny studio apartment. My download of the book also had odd spacing, almost like the return had been hit too many times. I tried modifying the size of the font in case it was my setting. I would come across a half page thinking end of the chapter, but then it would continue like this every other page.
I enjoyed this story. When Addison and Phillip first met it was super cute and funny. She loses her hotel room to Philip. So, she takes a room that is not supposed to be rented out. And you learn why when the ceiling collapses on her. (She is fine) Philip who is right next door rescues her, offering to share his bed with her. Super cute to read that part.
After a deal with his dad, he loses his fortune for 30 days. 3 days of those he sleeps in a storage closet at work. My goodness. 😂
So, after Addison finds out she invites him to be her roommate. This is where he tries to woo her into dating him. Which he is successful at. After this, yes you follow their relationship as it blossoms, “which I actually enjoyed”, some people did not.
Their breakup. To me Addison was more influenced by her peers in starting a fight with Philip. If you sign a contract you do not have a right to bitch when the company wants you to fulfill the terms of said contract. That's my opinion. 😐 A lot of what she thought was wrong of him doing with his business and trying to shame him for in my opinion was BS.

At first glance, THE BOSS AGREEMENT seems like a typical billionaire boss romance. There is nothing typical about it, though. I loved the book. It is original, emotional and has a kind of suspense that comes from the feeling that things are going so well, the other shoe must be ready to drop soon.
Phillip is unexpected and from the time they meet, he never fails to disappoint us as he strives to be the man he wants be.
Addison on one hand seems so resourceful and grounded, but her life dealt her some hard lessons making her serious in some ways beyond her years.
You want to read this story. I was glad to receive an advance copy from the author so I could do so and provide this review.
Phillip and Addison first meet at a motel. He gets the room she requested and when the ceiling literally falls down upon her, she ends up sharing his room with him. She never expected that when she started her new job that the man, she shared a room with would be her new boss. When Phillip makes a bet with his father and ends up sleeping on Addison's couch, it starts them on their journey. Will it have them arriving in the same place a happily ever after together? This story warmed my heart and had me in Phillip's and Addison's corner to get their chance.

This will definitely one of those books that has a bad and a good side and honestly it was eh. I just couldn’t really get into it and I think that was the problem but it was cute. Would I recommend it? Maybe maybe not because it’s one of those kinds of books and it is easy to lose your interest in the middle of the book or when you put it down and I think that was my fault but at least I picked it up because there are some books I did not pick up because it completely lost by interest, so I gotta say this did not lose my interest. This just made me slowly read it. P.s. I wish we where able to do half star ratings.
4,5 stars This was such an enjoyable read! I loved how two different worlds collide and become one better one. Addison is a fiery young lady full of hopes and dreams and wants to publish a book. Her boss Phillip is such a sweatheart but is known as a cold ruthless man in the office. Thanks to Addison he sees the fun side of life and becomes much warmer and sweeter. We get to meet some side characters like Trish, Sera, Andrew and Mason and they brought extra joy to this story. A very nice read!.

Good romance with lives not so easy to tune 4.5 It's a good romance whose object is both the social side by the experience of Philip who decides to work in the same social conditions as his employees for a limited time, and Addison, who was used to to be poor and who manages the situation much better. Their story is tender, hot, rather cute, but also moving, between career and choice to take the time to live, wealth and poverty with the life choices that accompany them. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review voluntarily. Loved the story, the way it layered and built and flowed made it so easy to read and pulled me in, emotions and all. I was rooting for Phillip and Addison to find their HEA I appreciated that both characters had their flaws, vulnerabilities, expectations… it just made them so real and human and my heart ached for how they both had to overcome 'damage' caused by their parent. It was not a short story for sure but it was just perfect reading their realisation of what it means to love and sacrifice and to fight for their HEA.
A very enjoyable read in which you will become fully invested in the character’s lives. A man searching for who he really wants to be becomes a roommate with a woman full of feistiness, hopes and dreams. It gives the reader an emotional journey that has witty times, heart tugs, great supporting characters, slow build, tension, drama, sweetness and love.
