A sexy, fun, and wildly romantic small-town, opposites attract workplace romance by Norah Pritchard.
A job offer she can’t refuse…
As Northfield’s beloved and vivacious bartender, Amber Hart is known for mixing excellent drinks and making terrible decisions. Faced with a rapidly dwindling bank account and yet another pink slip, she’s forced to consider the real reason she can’t get ahead. Yet when sexy, straight-laced Mayor Theo Clairmont comes to her with an unexpected job offer, her first thought is maybe…never…
becomes something more…
For Theo Clairmont, there’s nothing more important than fulfilling his family legacy of serving the town of Northfield. When his assistant elopes, leaving him in a jam during a re-election battle, Theo makes an offbeat decision to hire the wild and flirty bartender to hold down his office. After all, he’s never had a problem focusing on his job before…
Between the boss and the bombshell
Theo didn’t count on Amber’s wicked sense of humor… or her penchant for skinny dipping. Suddenly, Theo’s workaholic ways lose their appeal when Amber challenges him to experience the magic of a small-town summer. In between fireworks and Ferris wheel rides, can Amber convince Theo there is more to life than just fulfilling expectations, and will Amber learn that love means sticking around for a future she never thought possible? That all depends when maybe never becomes…
My book club read Norah’s first book in this series and I’m so excited we’re reading the second (I would have read it on my own anyways) You won’t be able to put this book down. I am so grateful Norah came and talked to our bookclub and will again when we discuss this book. It’s amazing having a local author share the ins and outs of her writing process. I’m such a sucker for a good romance novel :).
Gosh I looooooved Amber’s awakening to herself in this novel! Theo taking his time and waiting for Amber to see herself the way he sees her 🥹. Love a man with patience 🥵😉
Amber Hart needs a job. Theo Clairmont needs an assistant. A small town with big love! The slow burn that Norah writes in this novel will have you turning pages and staying up all night to finish. Theo is such a lovable grouch with all the moves. 🤩
Spice level: 3.5/5

Norah Pritchard masterfully writes characters with big, shiny, sparkling chemistry. The sexual tension between Amber & Theo leapt off the pages and left me breathless with anticipation. Also it was Very. Very. Very. HOT. Like 🥵 call the fire department hot.
What truly sets this romance series apart is its portrayal of strong, supportive women lifting each other up. The Hart family needs to be protected at all costs. (Though I miss the Sassy Aunts™️ from the first book - we need more of them! And I hope the mother gets a love story of her own 🤞)
Amber and Theo are such good romantic leads. Amber just needs someone to make her believe in herself. I have never gotten so emotional over someone running three miles! Theo is respectful and supportive and knows 👏 how 👏 to 👏 (capital P) Please. You root for him to get the girl and win the election and fall in love with the dog and have more sexy food fights. Jealousy and men being possessive are not my thing so reading this was honestly such a breath of fresh air:
”Bitterness and jealousy swelled in him, and he was ashamed. He wasn’t this kind of man. He had no right to feel this way. She hadn’t promised him anything. He hadn’t asked, either." YES KING 👏
My only complaint with the story is very specific and picky. I don’t like that Amber is portrayed as being a complete mess by only eating twinkies and Theo saves her by forcing her to drink green smoothies. Then she contemplates eating one thing with sugar but “She couldn't give up all of herself so easily." I would have preferred a more balanced approach that doesn’t demonize sugary foods and make eating only kale the ideal.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun, sexy narrative that tugs at the heartstrings just enough to satisfy your inner hallmark channel urges OR anyone who appreciates an author who can craft some brilliant sex scenes.
A truly enchanting read that left me eagerly awaiting the next installment in this feel-good, sexy series.
This book is such a treat! I literally laughed aloud, cried, and had to fan myself 🍑🍑🍑🍑🍑 Norah Pritchard did it again! She created characters that are so relatable and described an idyllic small town that you can't help but want to visit. I love interlinking series and I particularly love following the lives of the Hart sisters in the Northfield series! If I were single, I would be looking for real estate listings in fictional Northfield both to befriend all of the Hart sisters, in hopes of an invite to Sunday dinner, as well as to find myself a man like Davis or Theo! In Maybe Someday With You, I loved the twist on the workplace romance as well as enemies to lovers trope and the 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️spicy scenes are WELL worth the wait. I hope we get to see s a little glimmer of Amber and Theo's future lives in Book #3 just as we did with Allie and Davis in this one. Norah's characters are hard to let go of. If you like Lana Harper's books (Payback's a Witch) but are looking for looking for a little less witchy magic, this book is for you!
This one just didn't hit right with me. It makes me really uncomfortable when a boss/employee dynamic is immediately unprofessional. I don't like feeling like the fmc only has her job because the mmc wants to sleep with her. She had a big, idgaf personality, which was great, but the way that Amber acted was really inappropriate much of the time.
Norah is a Rochester gem and I love all the callbacks to Pittsford in the book. I loved the first book in this series, and I enjoyed this one even more! A great slow burn with the perfect amount of tension. I appreciated most the rich character development and felt so invested in Amber and Theo’s happiness. Love a strong feminine lead and Amber’s growth into a more authentic and confident version of herself.
Such an amazing book! Norah you outdid yourself with this one! I couldn't wait to keep reading but didn't want to finish it! Keep up writing about this sweet, fiesty, fun family!
Stars- ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice- 🌶️🌶️🌶️ ______________________ ☀️Boss x Assistant ☀️Opposites Attract ☀️Small Town ☀️He Falls First ☀️Caretaking _______________________ Thanks to Norah Pritchard for the ARC! I received an advanced copy of the book and am leaving an honest review 😊 _______________________
NORAHHHHH. Darling. I. AM. OBSESSED. I devoured this in like 4 hours. I’m now in a puddle of ooey gooey feelings. MAYOR THEO 4EVA.
This is the second book in the Northfield series and follows Amber, hot mess express and sister to Allie from book 1. She needs another job after being let go from the bar for having the audacity to sing karaoke (well, she was also physically on the bar but that’s neither here nor there) and ends up as the assistant to Mayor Theo Clairmont.
This was such a GOOOOOOD opposites attract, workplace, SLOW BURN. It got me right in the feels. Theo falls first and HARD. Amber has walls put up and he keeps trying to knock them down. There’s definitely some self worth, deep insecurities she’s not exactly dealing with and she’s having a hard time saying no to Theo. It’s a delicious slow burn but when it does heat up, the MOUTH on this man! It was soo satisfying.
I’ve adored Norah and her writing since book 1 and have come to absolutely love the small town she’s woven together and all the characters. We get cameos from Allie and Davis and the kids from book 1, some new faces are introduced. This was such an enjoyable read with depth of feeling as well as some lighthearted and hilarious moments. I can’t wait for the rest of the series.
I really enjoyed this book! Grumpy mayor meet the bartender who can't seem to get her life together. These two totally hated each other at first, but slowly they started to figure out that they can make magic together. Amber is known as the girl in town who is really unlucky and isn't supported to follow her dreams. Mayor Theo makes her an offer she can't refuse..and voila! The tension in this book is great and the spice was SPICING!!! I really love a workplace romance and this one hit the mark for me.
Romance reader alert! This sequel was well worth the wait! Norah has knocked it out of the ball park again! “From the first time he saw her, he’d felt like he was in the eye of a hurricane, and yet he couldn’t help the surge of protectiveness he had always felt for her”. This is a romance story thought as an unlikely pairing but turned out to be the perfect pairing. Money really does not matter when it comes to compatibility.
Whelp!! I am absolutely in love with these two. WOW, with the slow burn 🔥 🔥 and everything leading up to the fireworks💥 I look forward to reading more from this author. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥. I couldn’t put this one down and finished it in a day.
I am going back to read the first one, didn’t know it was a series when I picked it.
Swooooning over this second installment of the Northfield series!
Theo and Amber have chemistry to burn. His buttoned up and restrained, hers visible and fiery. Add in a workplace/forbidden tension, small town politics, and an ongoing game of truth or dare, and you get a steamy storyline (with great side characters).
As much as I did love their romance, what captured me even more was Amber’s later coming-of-age and personal growth - along with the support and encouragement from Theo.
such a fun, sweet read. i love this series and all the found family. amber was such an interesting wild character and i love how patient and sweet theo was. their banter and dynamic was fun.
If you are a fan of the Knockemout series by Lucy Score, the Northfield series is right up your alley! This is BOOK 2 - start with BOOK 1, The Other Side of Forever!

What do you get when a stunning, feisty, spontaneous, and independent firecracker crosses paths with a calculated, poised, successful, cool-drink-of-water politician?
That's right - STEAM!
When Amber finds herself jobless and in a tight financial situation after her wild antics get her fired from her bartending gig, she takes a job as an assistant to the mayor. The mayor, who is a legacy politician in the town, is up for re-election and Amber comes into her own while helping him shake up his platform and connections within the community beyond the stuffy, deep pockets that were already supporting him. Along the way, there's banter and tension but also really tender moments as the two opposites get to know one another beyond what they typically show to the world.
Amber is such a beautifully written character - on the surface, she's a wildchild, free-spirit with a reputation of flirtation that precedes her. But beneath her carefully crafted sexpot exterior lies depth and dreams and fears and hopes. I absolutely loved her arc and feel like I see so much of myself in her and how she handles interactions with people. Can't be let down if you never expect anything. Her growth and full-circle moments had me in tears at certain points.
Theo... phew, Mayor Theo Clairmont is a whole mood. Polished and sophisticated in public but giving strong pleasure dom vibes in private with a dirty mouth and an affinity for praise. When he said "sweetheart" during the peach scene, I was done for. Watching this man literally UNRAVEL at the seams over Amber and how he chose her over all else gave me all the warm, fuzzy feelings.

Loved this book as much as the first, and I can't wait for the rest of the series!!!

Reading a local novel has been so fun! I Getting to look for all the little Easter eggs has been such a delight! Cannot wait for book 3! If you believe in fate and love a slow burn this is the book for you! Can't wait to read more about the Hart family!
Another wonderful small town story from Norah!! Did not disappoint! Loved Amber and Theo together!! I was so excited when I realized it was release day and this story did not disappoint! Finished it done day. Can’t wait for the next!!
I just love the way Norah writes this small town and I especially love how she writes men. First Davis in The Other Side of Forever and now Theo. The swoon is high. Amber is the epitome of a wild child and Theo is there not to tame her, but to make her shine. This workplace romance is filled with tension, banter, fun (the truth and dare play was a perfect way for them to get to know each other!) and some pretty tender moments, as well as some great spice! Theo was all in with Amber and didn’t hesitate to tell her how he felt. There was no guessing with him and I loved that! I adore this series and can’t wait to see who is up next on the quaint small town of Northfield.
I was excited to get my hands on the second book in the Northfield series again so we can get another look at the Hart family and this book did not disappoint!
We meet Amber who is an absolute spitfire and so full of life and personality. Amber is a bit all over the place and loves to go out of her way to help others but sets her own wants/needs to the side. When she starts to work for the "boring" Mayor Theo she leasts expects him to be the one to push her.
Theo...Oh this man! I absolutely adored Theo and everything about him. There is a moment where he realizes his feelings towards Amber but at the same time realizes it's not fair to react the way he does...why because ”Bitterness and jealousy swelled in him, and he was ashamed. He wasn’t this kind of man. He had no right to feel this way. She hadn’t promised him anything. He hadn’t asked, either." that made me melt right there for him! Ill also add the care taking scene with Amber will have you falling for him as well.
I loved Amber and Theo's interactions. The back and fourth push and pull between the two of them was so fun. The banter/witt and we can not forget their truth or dare game that is something shared with just the two of them! I loved that they used that to get to know each other more. I will add this is a slow burn with a lot of tension but when we get to the spice it is worth the wait and the mouth on our Mayor Theo was hot! "You are my fantasy, Amber. Just like this, coming all over my hand. Will you do that for me before you get on your knees and suck me?"
There were times I got irritated with Amber and her pushing Theo away but I loved honestly loved how it all worked out in the end and how she got Theo back!
𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐢𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞: 💖 small town romance 💖 workplace romance 💖 opposites attract 💖 he falls first 💖 slow burn 💖 open door romance 💖 dual POV
Amber, the feisty, spunky, & wild sister of the Hart family, loses her job at the local pub for dancing on the bar. Amber has debt collection agencies calling her left & right. Not because she cannot afford her lifestyle, but because she is secretly financially taking care of her neighbors. Theo, Northfield’s mayor, is seeking an assistant. Theo decides to take a chance on Amber & hires her. While working for him, Theo is finding that there is more than meets the eye when it comes to Amber Hart. Amber still doesn’t believe good things can last forever for her. She thinks she self-sabotages & destroys all the good that happens in her life. So when she starts noticing the connection between her & Theo, she believes it’s all too good to be true.
If Norah writes it, I am reading it! And I am always loving anything she writes. This rings true with this book as well!! I loved the opposites attract story with Amber & Theo. Amber & Theo balance out each other perfectly. I about melted into a puddle on the floor when Theo takes care of Amber when she’s sick 🥹 Amber comes off as a “rough around the edges” kind of woman, but once you get to know her throughout the story, you realize she has such a heart of gold. The romantic small town coziness was the perfect vibe for this. Absolutely loved this one & cannot wait for the next book in the series!
Norah Pritchard does it again! I absolutely loved her debut novel, The Other Side of Forever. The setting in the beautiful town of Northfield, the chemistry between Allie and Davis, and the just the slow burn taking place in this small town had me immediately hooked. I was lucky enough to get my hands on an ARC of her Maybe Someday With You. The story picks right back up in Northfield, but this time we're learning about another Hart sister, Amber who's more free-spirited and finds herself working for the town mayor, Theo🔥. They're polar opposites, but in the best way possible. Working together they discover things about one another that will give you all of the feels. Seriously, I could not put this one down! There are few authors and books that I want to reread. This series is one that I can keep coming back to for a feel good story any time I need a pick-me-up. Now, I cannot wait to read about Lily's story next.
Spicy 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 Small town opposites attract slow burn romance
Theo is a sexy , successful , strong, supportive politician seeking re-election who needs an assistant.
Amber is feisty, Fun, and in a tight financial situation after losing her job.
I love how Amber was so good at making connections happen for Theo, building a new platform and really helping his election.
I love how Theo helped Amber see her worth and believe in herself.
There are many strong women in this book and Amber is one of them, she just doesn’t know it.
Norah did an excellent job writing this book, I couldn’t put it down! Thank you for the opportunity to ARC read this. I cannot wait for book #3 in the Northfield series.
This was a fun, lighthearted and sweet small town read! I loved the buildup and chemistry between Amber and Theo, the spice was sooo good too! I liked how supportive Theo was to Amber even though Amber saw herself as a failure and how he took care of her when she was sick. I liked seeing Amber mature and develop throughout the book.
I absolutely loved this whole series and I recommend you read the whole series as it’s amazing!
-(mayor)boss/assistant -slow burn -he falls first -opposites attract -small town -care taking -skinny dipping -spanking/dirty talk/desk sex -food play🍑 -unprotected sex (she’s on BC)
Not quite as steamy as the first book, but I loved the steadfastness character of Theo paired against the flightiness of Amber. We all need someone to balance us and they do so perfectly.
Wish I could give half stars for a solid 4.5
I can't put my finger on what unfortunately, I just wish there was a little something extra to push me to the 5.
It wasn’t that I didn’t enjoy the book, I just sometimes struggled to connect to the FMC. I understand that she is supposed to be someone who struggled with confidence and for that I understand. It was her defense mechanism that I struggled to not get annoyed with
