K. Rose has been a part of the Indie Author Community for years. Getting her start as a reader, her keen eye led to a wonderful career in Alpha/Beta and ARC (Advance Reader Copy) reading. As a joke to her fellow advanced reader colleagues, she created a spoofed blurb and cover for a story and the feedback was so positive that it sparked her to run with it. That stoked a fire that has her racing down a multi-genre freeway with no off-ramp in sight. K. doesn’t write to “market” and she is fairly certain that her humor and use of puns may cause an eye roll or two. This still wouldn’t stop her from making sure there is humor in every one of her stories. As a Multi Genre Author, there is sure to be something for everyone to love. She has traveled the USA extensively, including Alaska, and lived in thirty-eight of the fifty states. Home is now the beautiful state of Wisconsin, where she dreams up her stories in the company of her menagerie of furbabies, including five puppies, five rescue kitties, a bunch of chickens, ducks and turkeys ruled by a Rooster named Chicken Parm, and a ninety-gallon tropical fish tank. Life will always be interesting for K. Rose, which will fuel her works, and keep her muses singing, come join the chorus.
This was a really good addition to Silver Springs! A vegan vampire and completely unique shifters had me hooked. I don’t think I had a favorite out of her guys- they each had different personalities, but all loved her just the same. I loved having a FMC in the medical field even though I wish we could have seen a little more of that. I somehow managed to learn about veggies and fruits while reading this book. One question I still have is, is the caterpillar/ butterfly just that or something more? I also really enjoyed her best friend Lainie and hope that some day she’ll get her own story and fated mate(s) also.
This was a fun read. On her way home from a first date, the car that Basil is in is involved in a big accident, leaving her transformed into a vampire! As a vegan she needs to find an alternative source of 'food', her research leads her to the decide to open a juice and tanning shop in Silver Springs! When she gets there she meets several very interesting and unusual characters including a half witch/half sprite who becomes her best friend. I'm not going to say much about Basil's mates because you really have to meet them yourself to fully appreciate them, let me just say that they are amazing!
I absolutely loved how this was a plus sized MC. I love how every one of her mates accept her body and accept her for who she is. I loved her smoothie and tanning business so much and how she very quickly won the town over. I love how when she’s taken all her mates do their best to track her down and save her. I absolutely loved the caterpillar and how it was kinda like her pet.
Basil wakes up from a car accident to a slight change in her life. When she tries to bite the doctor, she knows she needs to give up her past but before that she uses her skills to create a compound that allows her to stay a vegan vampire. A unexpected twist lands her in Silver Springs with a new business that's the best of both worlds for her. The mate spell on her little hitchiker connects her to some interesting mates.
Basil is an original quick read that is quirky and will make you laugh and smile at the goings on. Basil is full of sugar and spice that ups the chemistry factor. It is an intriguing, supernatural tale with a dash of tension, some danger, a little action, adventure, and a few twisty turns that makes the pages turn and makes it a fun and easy to read. This story takes place in the quirky small town of Silver Springs, a town full of wonderful supernatural beings and where the unusual and fun is to be found. I loved the characters, in this unique world where anything goes. It is a reverse harem romance with a BBW where fate has deemed more than one mate. The story is witty, clever and was a delight to read. This Rom Com is a well woven paranormal tale with fated mates, a terrible first date and a vegan vampire. Oh, and let’s not forget the little green caterpillar. If you love something PNR a little quirky and a lot different then Ms Rose is your gal. I will have to go back and read the other books in this series as I started at the wrong end by the looks of things. Happy reading PNR lovers!
Basil has the worst first date ever! She wakes up in the hospital and tries to bite the doctor!!! She finds out she's a vampire but how on earth is that gonna work when she's a vegan!?!! Seeing as she's a scientist she starts to figure out an alternative to the while "blood sucking" thing! Which leads her to Silver Springs where Supernaturals, Chaos and Laughs run amuck!! She opens her own Smoothie/ Tanning Salon which is how she meets her bff witch/sprite hybrid who I honesty hope gets her own story!! She also meets her mates and they are.... Interesting to say the least! Won't say more, don't wanna spoil it but you will enjoy this book!!! Its fun and quirky!! Just like Silver Springs itself and all it inhabitants!!!
Basil is part of a Silver Springs lineup that features different authors, this one by K. Rose. RH, why choose, spice, fantasy, supernatural, vegan, vampire, HEA (yeah, what did I just write? haha)
The story starts with Basil waking up in ICU after a horrific first date that somehow ended in a car crash and also her turning into a vampire... that's vegan. No idea what happened to her date other than he was in the ICU as well or who turned her, how did she turn, etc. Feel like a lot of set up was missing there. Maybe it was intentional since she didn't know, I'm just not sure I see a super science biomed girl just walking away from that question. The science part behind how she was able to sustain her diet without eating anything with a face was fun to read. She moves to Silver Springs- again, not sure about how easy it was for her to find out about a whole town of supernaturals but it's also on the downlow from the rest of the world... in the space of a few days of her shop (vegan smoothies and tanning salon) opening, she meets 3 fated mates.
Drama ensues via the twin of one of the mates. Happily ever after is wrapped up. No cliffhangers unless you count the plot holes haha For a while there I thought the caterpillar/butterfly in her shop was going to turn into one of her fated mates (no, seriously. I really did, and it would not have seemed far fetched in the story line)
It was super easy to read, even with the plot holes and really very funny at times. Maybe another one will come along and fill in the gaps? Wasn't set up for a part 2, but I could see it happening. I've read a lot of RH, fantasy mashups, supernaturals, fated mates stories, but this was definitely unique. World building, set up and backstory could have been a little stronger, the spice was NOT lacking. if there was a 2nd, I would give it a read :)
Unique new twist on a classic genre. This is not only the first book I have read by the amazing K. Rose, but it is also the first book I have read in the Silver Springs Universe. Primary perspective Basil, but also glimpses of JJ, Theo, and Jo. Basil was just a normal human until she woke up in the hospital after a fatal car accident and everything felt different, especially her body. Quickly discovering she was no longer a human but a vampire, her main fear was that she was a vegan, and she wasn’t about to change that now. Successfully becoming a truly vegan vampire, she starts over in the supernatural town of Silver Springs. Immediately after she meets her first employee and best friend Lainie. Soon after that she meets JJ and Jo, the owners of the local farm she got most of her ingredients from for her smoothie bar. They call her their flower, their mate. Still confused at the implications, enters Theo all in one day and is told again that she is his snowflake and mate. She never thought it was true vampires, shifters, clones, everything seemed out of a fairy tale, but the emotions were real and quickly she couldn’t resist the need and pull to claim them. Things were going great until hunters showed up and only saw her for the fangs and nothing more. Can Basil succeed in surviving and living out her new life? What will her mates do to protect their queen? This town honestly sounds amazing and the new twists on supernatural’s brought a refreshing outlook on a highly enriched genre. While I haven’t read any of the other books in the Silver Springs Library (yet), I loved the little cameos by previous characters such as Amber, Violet, and Sugar. I look forward to going back and reading each of their unique stories as well as looking more into this amazing author’s personal works.
At the very beginning of this book, Basil wakes up in the hospital not knowing where she is. She claims she feels weird and then the doctor starts panicking, mentioning that her eyes are bleeding. Basil knows she has to get out of there. She super-speeds to her lab (she is a biomedical engineer) to find out what is happening to her. All signs point to vampirism. The catch, she’s a vegan. She creates a serum that mimics blood so she would not have to feed off of anything living.
While Basil is researching her new found life, she comes across a dark web for supernaturals and finds a town called Silver Springs that seem to favour supernatural beings. Basil thinks it's a great place to start a new life from and finds a place with a store front.
As Basil and her new friend/employee prepare for the grand opening, Basil meets some of the handsome supernatural men she will soon be seeing much more of. She went from having no one to having a family. When vampire hunters track her down, she has to maneuver everything while keeping them safe. She will have to trust those around her and open her heart to love.
I loved how the author wrote this book. It is written in first person and Basil is a blast. She’s sassy, quirky, smart, and relatively calm in tense situations. It comes across well in the writing. Basil was able to take a bad thing that happened to her and turn it into a blessing. I feel like Basil and I could be friends in real life.
This book is technically book 9 of the ‘Silver Springs Pets series’ but can be read as a stand alone. This is my first time reading a book written by K. Rose but after this one, won't be my last. I really enjoyed this book and feel like I will enjoy more from this author!
So it's not a bad book. I just don't think it was for me. I really wanted it to be for me, though. I thought the idea of a vegan vampire who has mates that are clones of the jolly green giant and a snowman shifter was such a cool idea and definitely not something I've ever come across before. The downfall was that it didn't really feel like there was character development or much to really be developed. By 57%, you still know just basic information about the characters. No pasts or insecurities other than a brief touch of basil feeling insecure about her weight while she was with Theo. The weight thing kind of felt like it came out of left field since there was zero previous mention of it. The other problem I had was it felt like insta love and in one of my short 100 page or less books I'm all for it but in a book that's over 300 pages even if it is insta I wanted a little bit more substance behind the I love yous. Then the last thing that kinda bugged me is when I read reverse harem it gives me the ick if the fmc has been with anyone else while the other guys are unaware and she told Theo about JJ and Jo right away but not them about Theo so even if its ok because it's a fated mates situation it feels like cheating and I don't like that especially seeing she claimed Jo first so there was no saying they aren't officially together. I was skimming a bit because a lot felt like filler information, so maybe I missed it, but I don't think I did.
I'm gonna dnf. I hope someone else really enjoys this book since I really do think the idea is cool, but I'm gonna move on to the next so I can start knocking out my tbr.
This book is…different and not necessarily in a bad way…it's just ehh. I liked the premise of it and the set up of a variety (and I mean variety) of supernatural beings living in a warded village together was fantastic. I think the biggest thing holding me back with this book is the plot development, character development, and writing. I liked the premise but there were so many plot hole or places where all of a sudden things just happened (or didn't happen) and it didn't really make sense or it felt really rushed. And I loved the characters. Basil, Jo, JJ, and Theo make for quite the interesting reverse harem BUT their development (or lack thereof) really hinders my overall feel for the book and in turn them. They weren't developed much past their initial introduction and there are quite a few holes in their stories...especially Basil and she's our main character. There are also some side characters that I would have liked to see have more development but were just kind of there or just got completely cast to the side by the end of the book. As for the writing...it was tolerable in the beginning but as it went on I just felt that it got more and more juvenile and it was hard for me to finish. I found my self rolling my eyes and sighing quite a bit at what was happening and what was being said. I really think this could be a great story with more development and it's not a horrible book as is. It just wasn't really my cup of tea. But it is a quick, definitely spicy read that would be great for in-between those longer books.
Basil is a young woman who wakes up in a hospital not remembering how she got there, all she remembers is going on a date through one of those popular dating websites and the next things she knows is that she is in pain and extremely thirsty. Unfortunately, when the doctor checks her over, she is overcome with a need to bite him and even though she knows this shouldn't be happening and so she runs away and heads back to her lab where she has to come to terms with the fact that she is a vampire, which causes a conundrum because she is vegan!
One good thing about Basil is that she is a biomedical engineer and so she does some research and creates a serum to help fend off the bloodlust, but now she has to make a decision about her life and how this will affect everything. As she is researching, she comes across a website with an interesting place called Silver Spring and that is when inspiration hits and she decides to open a smoothie and tanning salon and when the accomodation is approved, she heads out to a new life.
What Basil doesn't expect is to find a few incredibly hot suitors, all of whom are supernatural like her, but when danger comes calling, will Basil be able to keep the life she is creating for herself, or will she really lose it all? In this reverse harem, paranormal romance, you will fall in love with the characters as they find their way up each other through a witty, sweet and spicy story of acceptance, realisation and romance.

so. i’m not too sure what to say about this book because first off, it’s not a TERRIBLE read by any means. it’s definitely quick, sweet, and quirky as a whole… but there was definitely something missing for me while reading it.
i maybe could have dnf’ed from the start but i really wanted to give this book a try because i was expecting things to maybe change or pick up as i went forward. i wish there was some more character development from all four of the MCs because maybe then i would have had a much more deeper connection to them. i didn’t really get a feel of their uniqueness besides what they could shift into (and they were STRANGE lmfao)
there were some plot holes throughout the book and the ending felt rushed compared to the slower pace we had in the first couple of chapters. some of the dialogue fell flat for me and just felt awkward sometimes (JJ & Basil Plant, you will pay for your crimes) but overall, they had their moments.
the premise was so interesting to me i just think this isn’t satisfying that itch for me, but i can’t say i didn’t love how sweet and romantic all 3 boys were for the main heroine!!!!!! also, the spice was BACK-TO-BACK so if you love that, this book is for you!
Basil is the 9th book in the Silver Springs Pets series. I found it to be sweet, fascinating and very entertaining to read. Basil starts out human and goes out on what she thinks a normal date with a very handsome man. on her way home she is in a terrible accident and wakes up in the hospital. When she wakes up her throat is dry and when the doctor comes near and Basil lunges at him to bite him; well that won't do.. She runs away from the hospital where she goes to her lab. Basil is a Bio-Genitiesis and discovers that she is a vampire that sparkles but Basil isn't your normal Vampire... She is a Vegan Vampire which means that she does not drink or eat anything that is living. When she gets to Silver Springs and sets up her shop The BBW she meets 3 very handsome interesting men.. 2 are very interesting and consider themselves brothers.. J.J. and Jo. and Theo well he is a Snoughman. Basil, also, meets a best friend and also her first employee Lainee. Basil finds a little Green Caterpillar that I believe is more then just a Caterpillar as he is wearing a collar and Basil becomes very fond of the little one. This story is quick and a very fun read and I highly recommend that you read it. So, if you love reading about Vegan Vampires, Hot Handsome Men, Delicious Smoothies then this book is the one for you.
This book was so funny and steamy! Let me first say, that I haven't read the others in the series, but I still loved the book and can't wait to grab the others!! This book made me laugh a few times out loud! The glitter comment being one! I might have even talked a friend into reading this series over that conversation!! Basil wakes up to find herself a vampire. Only problem is that she is a vegan and she doesn't eat anything that had/has a mother. Not so good for a newly made vampire. Luckily she formulates a plan very quickly. She makes a serum that helps with the hunger, she buys a store with an upstairs apartment, and she leaves town. She moves to Silver Springs. A heavily supernatural town. She opens up a smoothie juice bar with a tanning salon. Opening night is a big hit. Her life has been a world wind of changes and the biggest one yet is all the men! Has she found her mate? And what is a mate? She is so new to EVERYTHING that she needs to do some research! Unfortunately, she's kidnapped and no one knows by whom! Such a great story! Like I said, I can't wait to read the others in the set! You can read it as a stand alone, but trust me, you will be just like me running to get the others! If you love a good supernatural romantic comedy with lots of angst, banter, and some steamy parts then this one is for you!
This book is different! I mean how different can a book full of supernaturals be. Well throw in a vegan vampire. Which is exactly who Basil follows through the story. It’s her story and she unexpectedly became a vampire. Her biggest obstacle being she’s vegan. The author offers an interesting perspective as her character continues one with her life. Not the first time I’ve read a book with a synthetic blood substitute, but it’s definitely the way to go for Basil. Basil’s new life brings a whole new sense of life and confidence. As well as multiple suitors claiming to be her mate. Jo, JJ, and Theo all say she’s their mate. To this she doesn’t understand how that’s possible but is willing to explore where it goes. Jo and JJ are Jolly Green Giant Shifters. Who ended up being experiments gone wrong. Always feeling like they were meant to stay together, it comes as no surprise to them that they end up wanting the same woman. Theo is a snowman shifter(first for me, definitely intriguing.) And he’s run for her even though he knows he shouldn’t have. Unfortunately his past may very well put Basil in trouble. Can Theo keep his past at bay? Can they all share Basil as their mate? Those questions and so many more come about while reading this quirky story featuring supernatural beings. And a woman finding who she is while be granted a second chance.
Basil Silver Springs Pets book nine K Rose Stars: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Time read: 2 hours HFN * MY REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS! * ALWAYS READ TRIGGER WARNINGS!
Book starts out with Basil in this hospital after she died in a ride share accident after a date. It is implied her date must have fed her vampire blood before she died, but we never truly learned the reasoning. Basil then wins a settlement over the accident and moves to Silver Springs which is a town for paranormals. She ends up opening her own juice bar and meeting all her mates fairly quickly.
So this is quirky and unique RH book. None of the main characters are the typical characters you read about. There’s a VEGAN vampire, a snowman shifter, and a set of w33d loving twin failed experiments (think jolly green giant), somehow all fated to be together. This book is cute and unpredictable. I felt there was no “falling in love period”. She meets all guys back to back and just jumps into relationships with the guys from the get go. We never got to learn how she turned into a vampire. Overall this is a cute and fun book, but if you really look into it, it has some flaws.
This is the first book I have read by the author, K. Rose, and it was a pleasant, quick and fun read. While this is book 9 in the Silver Springs Pets Series, it is a standalone and the series can be read in any order.
The book has an unusual take on vampires that is quirky with a side of romance (reverse harem). Have you ever heard of a VEGAN vampire? No, I didn't think so. On a horrible date, the FMC, Basil, is turned into a vampire and ends up in a supernatural sanctuary called Silver Springs. The FMC is a brilliant biomedical engineer and puts her skills to use to create a synthetic serum, so she does not need to drink blood - hence being vegan. I loved how creative this book was in every aspect, the plot, the world building, and the characters. At times it did remind me a tad bit of Twilight, specifically that the vampires are sparkly. I do wish that the FMC had more character development, but it was enough to still enjoy her character thoroughly.
This book will take your emotions on a rollercoaster - laughing out loud to crying. If you are looking for a quick quirky read that is drenched in spice, fated supernatural mates, glittery vampires, and full of adventure then I recommend you definitely pick this book up and read it! You will not be disappointed.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "BASIL" This is a fun quirky interesting, intriguing, supernatural romance, with a few complications, twists that makes this a very addicting page turner. Basil finds herself in trouble after waking from a car accident as a Vampire who is Vegan blood is not on her menu. Basil finds herself in Silver Springs where she starts a new business BBW Juice Bar & tanning salon a new BF Lainie a delightful funny, half Sprite/half Witch who come's looking for a job, thankyou together we can make this best shop in town. Basil meets JJ from Sprouts with her delivery he gorgeous JO will grab rest of order from truck he's gorgeous to there clones from the Jolly Green Giant an experiment we think your flower our mate they tell her, we'd like to take you on a proper date, they leave & Theo comes into her shop another mate. I definitely recommend to get this delightful story Basil, JJ, JO & Theo along with her, little caterpillar friend who you'll love takes you on quite the journey great steam, humor, a new life as a Vegan Vampire it's a must read you don't want miss. AWESOME ENTERTAINING PARANORMAL ROMANCE 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤 🖤
This is Book 8 of a ten-book collection of PRN romances by various authors. While each book takes place in the town of Silver Springs, a quirky town full of supernatural beings.
Basil (FMC) is a character that is easy to love. She is smart, practical, and a vampire. Not just any vampire, but one that was turned after a date from h3ll and happens to be a vegan. Now what is she supposed to do? In true Basil fashion as she also happens to be a biomedical engineer, she creates her own synthetic serum that helps keep her from feeding on friends and potential suitors.
This why choose romance was a joy to read. The world of Silver Springs is a place filled with wonderful characters that you cannot help but want to revisit.
I loved this author’s writing style. Her dialogue was witty, her descriptions were spot on, and the plot was easy to read. You have just got to love st0ner clones of the Jolly Green Giant. The play on Basil’s Beauty and Wellness (BBW) was smart and funny.
If you love quirky, PRN that will put a smile on your face, this is a must read.
I feel if I woke up in hospital and realised I was now a vampire, I might act a little differently to Basil. The beginning of the book felt a little off to me, the fact that she was more worried about being vegan than being an actual vampire seemed weird. She also didn’t really question the reality of supernatural creatures. What I really liked though was the creativity K Rose had with her supernatural creations. The nod to Twilight was appreciated too. The spicy scenes between Basil and her three mates was spicing so no complaints there. At 50% I was wondering if the story was just going to be Basil and her mates so the inclusion of the drama worked for me. Overall a different take on the paranormal genre. I still feel like there were things I was left questioning such as why did Theo and Lainie react so strangely when they first met and did the lady ever get over her caffeine addiction? That couple piqued my interest. Lastly, Lainie was a joy. I loved her character.
I did receive an arc and these are my honest opinions, albeit slightly late.
A quirky romantic comedy which can either be read as part of this multiauthor series or as a standalone story. Biomedical engineer Basil reluctantly joins a dating app only to unknowingly enter a supernatural realm. Following a disastrous date, vegan Basil is turned into a vampire, and uses her skills to create a serum which means she can live without needing blood. She decides to head to Silver Springs, a sanctuary for supernatural beings and opens a juice bar and tanning salon. Basil then meets three guys and soon finds herself in a reverse harem relationship. Her undead life is then put in danger when she discovers that vampire hunters are after her fangs. I was definitely taken on a ‘paranormal rom-com adventure’, and I felt fully immersed in this story. The descriptive narrative brings both the unique characters and the paranormal setting vividly to life. I liked the characters, and their chemistry came across in the narrative. I liked that basil was a proud curvy woman and that she found love with her supernatural suitors.
Basil is a delightful concoction of paranormal romance and comedic adventure that left me craving more! K. Rose masterfully weaves together elements of the supernatural with the everyday struggles of modern life, creating a unique and captivating world.
The protagonist, a curvy biomedical engineer turned vegan vampire, is refreshingly relatable as she navigates the unexpected twists and turns of her newfound existence. From opening a juice bar and tanning salon to attracting the attention of a diverse array of supernatural suitors, her journey is both heartwarming and hilarious.
Rose's writing is witty and engaging, drawing readers into a world where danger and passion collide. The chemistry between the protagonist and her suitors is palpable, keeping me eagerly turning pages until the very end.
Basil is a must-read for fans of reverse harem romance and paranormal fiction alike. With its clever premise, lovable characters, and pulse-pounding action, this book is sure to leave readers thirsting for more.
This is book 7 in the Silver Spring Pets series. I would say these books can definitely be read as standalones however I enjoyed this book so much I want to read the others. This is a reverse harem, paranormal romance. It is fast paced and it is full of steam, romance, supernatural beings, as well as a little danger. For me I love a paranormal story with fated mates and this has more than one so I was a very happy reader. Basil went on a date and her life changed in ways she couldn't have ever dreamed about. When she wakes she finds she is no longer alive but a vampire, but she's vegan so how will that even work? Wanting to move forward with her life she moves to Silver Springs and opens up a smoothie/tanning studio. Finally she feels at home and when her mates come calling she can't deny the pull towards them. However things aren't all happy and plain sailing as vampire hunters have followed Basil to Silver Springs and are not determined to destroy the life she is creating for herself. Will they succeed or will Basil and her mates win the fight?
This romantic comedy is a great read with a unique perspective. You are introduced to the main character, Basil who is involved in a terrible accident. She’s provided a blood transfusion that ultimately turns her into a vampire. As we have all been told, vamps require blood to sustain their undead livelihood but what does a vegan turned vamp do in this situation?
Basil soon learns about the supernatural world, life in her new town, Silver Springs and against all odds, opens a very successful tanning salon/smoothie bar. In an effort to continue with her vegan life choice, Basil tries to create a vegan friendly solution to her current predicament.
In addition to all of this drama, she finds herself falling for a trio of interesting characters who openly love her, flaws and all.
Overall this book is entertaining, intriguing and full of surprises. You will also laugh a lot! I really enjoyed this and will continue to read additions to this series due to the entertainment factor.
There are so many parts of Basil that I LOVED, especially how she took in her new unlife with such bravado. I love the Li'l one! And ofc Lainie. I felt really happy for Basil, and cheered for her with her new shop. It was cute when (and how!) she stumbled upon her guys. I also really liked the fact that she is a vegan vampire and she displays many admirable qualities. And, gosh, the spicy scenes are HOT. On that subject, I like also how the guys are not the normal or stereotypical type of Supes. (Well, neither is Basil, being a vegan vamp.) I really liked how they discovered more about each other and worked out their dynamics in such a beautiful way. JJ is so adorable, in the stoner way, Ha! And Jo, with his dominance. Yum. Theo, he really is such a sweetie-pie. If I am being 100% honest, some parts of the book felt a bit rushed, but this may just be me and my personal preference. Other than that, another great instalment in the Silver Spring Pets series.
Basil is your average vegan curvy girl living her life as a biomedical engineer when she goes on a blind date and then gets in a car accidents and somewhere in there ends up turned into a vampire. She decides to start a new life where she will be more accepted in her new status and opens a juice bar tanning salon in a magical community where she meets her three fated mates, two vegetable men and a snowman shifter. Drama ensues and they work together to get out of it and set themselves up for the HEA.
I have read a lot of paranormal romance but nothing quite like this one. It was really funny though I’m not entirely sure if it was meant to be funny all the time. The spice was great but the storyline had a few jumps and holes and some of the lines were just so ridiculous. Definitely a unique premise, maybe there will be another book to fill in some of the many plot holes?.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I was not prepared for the story that is Basil! The curvy biochemist, Basil, becomes a sparkly, vegan vampire. Once she figures out how to survive with her dietary restrictions, a whole new adventure begins. Basil's mates (yes, plural) are supernatural beings that I honestly never would have thought of, but am completely on board for. K. Rose delivers romance, drama, humor, a little suspense, and a whole lot of entertainment! The characters are so unique and delightful and I couldn't help but fall in love with them! With plenty of steamy moments between Basil and her 3 men, there was still a plot involved as well. The world building was fun and colorful and transported the reader to the supernatural community of Silver Springs. Basil is part of the multi-author series, Silver Springs Pets. I haven't read any of the other books, but may have to check them out. And I will definitely be looking for more books by K. Rose.
Basil has the first date she will never forget! On the way home from the date, which she met on a dating app, she was involved in a car accident. This accident left her turned into a vampire! The problem is she is vegan!
Upon leaving the hospital, after an episode of bloodlust. She finds a wonderful property in Silver Springs where she can open a smoothie and tanning business. This city seems to cater to those of a non human form! She also is able to create a mixture of blood that keeps her from having to rely on biting anyone.
Upon opening her new business she attracts three men. Will she make a choice? Will the danger one of them brings to town cause harm to Basil? You must read on to find out!
I will say this book can be read as a standalone. I have not read the previous books and did not feel like I was missing any information on any background. Now I am off to read the previous ones!
