Stel Pavlov works from an intriguing premise about the role of Atlantis, the Pyramids of Giza, and other ancient structures around the world in saving Earth from the Sun’s impending major solar flare that could destroy all life as we know it. Explorers have discovered an element known as C60, a form of Carbon, that has mysterious glyphs etched in it. Linguist Richard Scott is brought in to decipher the message, which (spoiler alert!) he eventually manages to do. The knowledge allows him to prepare the Earth for the incoming flare after a harrowing trip to Atlantis, which is buried under the ice in Antarctica. Pavlov includes a significant amount of scientific principles to explain the sound waves being heard from these various sites and being manipulated by the crystals to create swarms of Golems that play important roles in the various adventures of the key characters.
