Yet, the man in the bunker has an ace up his sleeve. He marshals his forces to find the enigmatic Azrael and his son, by any means necessary, to protect his life.
What ensues is a storm of epic proportions. Assassins, gangsters, mercenaries, bodyguards, and vengeful sirens collide in a deadly game where every card dealt is a matter of life and death.
Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the Goodreads database with this name.
David Archer was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. He is a fiction author and novelist, writing in the mysteries and thrillers genre. His approach to writing is to hit deep, keep you entertained, and leave you wanting MORE with every turn of the page. He writes mysteries, thrillers, and suspense novels, all of which are primed to get your heart pumping.
It never ceases to amaze me how good David Archer and Vince Vogels works are. They rival all of our favorites in this genre, and this current edition, is no different. I gauge the books I read on character development and the writers ability to take me "there," where each story, each event unfolds. It is truly an art to write so vividly and keep your readers (fans) gripped, flipping the pages, and so to you two....a tip of the hat. You're masters.
I enjoyed this book with all of its twists and turns. I was ready to see the series come to a peaceful ending, but it was not to be. While Peter, Michael, Mayu, and Yuki are enjoying a meal, an old lady comes towards them. Believing she is just a lost woman, they invite her to join them. Instead of just enjoying their hospitality, the old lady starts talking about her son and how he used to love to eat his udon, but he was dead now. Before they realize what is happening, she pulls a knife and stabs Yuki. Unfortunately, Yuki dies in her daughter Mayu's arms.. Why did it have to end like this?

Death and destruction follow Peter and Michael everywhere they go.
Another situation where Peter and Michael are coerced into a deadly encounter with a deranged madman and his followers which leads them into a confrontation with the Japanese Yakuza and hired mercenaries who are trying to kill them. Unfortunately for them Peter and Michael are trained killers themselves and are a force to be reckoned with no matter how many foes they come across, they always find a way to survive.
I really enjoyed this 5th installment of the Peter Black series. I appreciatd the way the authors inserted me into all parts of Japan, and places where I had never been. I'm not sure how I feel about the ending. No spoiler alerts here, but it certainly was a surprise.
This is an amazing tale of what a woman can become even after betrayal. Skilled and trained by her father to protect herself, she seeks revenge from an extremely dark portion of her life. Peter and the kid are on a mission of basically the same order. Read to see how their worlds become intertwined.
The Peter Black series just gets better and better. To have the CIA come back to Peter and ask for help is unbelievable. That he agrees and Michael is prisoner on that island while Peter tries to find YUKI. The tremendous story was very brutal and satisfying end for Tanaka. In the end though all the revenge caught up with YUKI. 10 stars plus!!!! Thanks, Carl Clause
Excellent book with a very interesting and involving story line. Some good early and late twists. The individual bad actors and their resolution were very well constructed! Stop reading here for comment about ending. The last epilogue though was too pat and predictable. And too unrealistic.
As the past and present collide, hope for a happy future is destroyed as secrets from the past continue to resurface. Can a happy future ever be rebuilt on the ashes of death and misery? Peter and his son, Michael, continue in their struggle ever onward.... Another + star read!
Yuki wants revenge for her lost life, husband and daughter… She meticulously exacts it upon those who selfishly destroyed her. She finds her daughter is alive and after the revenge is accomplished she relishes her newfound life. But, someone else wants revenge too… And everything is a dead end.
Loved this one. The story is rich and full of so many twists and turns you will want to read straight through. Action, revenge new friends made and lost Azreal and Micheal must dig deep to overcome this new chapter. Loved this on many levels. Awesome
The description of the Battleground is excellent. The various moves of karate, etc. were intriguing. I felt sorry for Michael but thanks to Peters persistent all worked out in the end. Overall a great read. I will continue with the series.
It is rare to see a series get so much better with every book, but Peter Black proves it to be true. While all of them have been great, this was by far the best yet. Can’t wait for the next one
Poor Peter Black…he’s cursed, and it’s sad. I’m rooting so hard for him. Now I have to make it to the next book to see if he can finally reach peace! So good!
I enjoyed 99% of the book. Lots of intense action and thrills and spills. The twist at the end spoilt it for me. I realise I’ll probably be on my own in that opinion, but it’s my own opinion.
I highly recommend this series of novels to keep a person entertained. No its not self enlightening but its good fun and a good read. Well written and enjoy it.
