This dramatic tale traces the rise of female gangsta Southeast Trina as she grows steadily in the drug game, making connections with some of Washington, D.C.'s most feared thugs, until a rival declares war, determined to take her down. Original.
Darrel A. King has been writing ever since the age of eight. His first published work of fiction was penned during the fall of 1976 as a student of Mary Field’s Elementary School on South Carolina’s Daufuskie Island. This effort was an adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkein’s “The Hobbit,” that he also wrote and illustrated. It was published in the school’s quarterly periodical, “The Daufuskie Kid’s Magazine.” Darrel King has written stories and numerous poems, several of which were published in the 1995-1996 “Poetry Anthology” by the National Library of Poetry in Owings Mills, Maryland. During the 90s, Darrell King became inspired by and attracted to the lurid tales of inner city crime. Dramas he read in novels by great writers such as Donald Goines and Iceberg Slim captivated his attention. These tales prompted Mr. King to begin his literary career writing his very own stories of urban crime and inner city drama. Darrel King is the author of Mack Daddy: Legacy of a Gangsta, Dirty South, How Do You Want It? and Mo' Dirty : Still Stuntin’ is his latest release and the much anticipated sequel to Dirty South. Darrell King was raised in South Carolina's Dufuskie Island. He now resides in Maryland with his wife and children.
The Story of Katrina Ricks was a wild and crazy ride. Murder by the numbers and by the hands of a beautiful bombshell better known as Southeast Trina. A coldhearted Teenage girl that had no love for anyone but her daughter Porsche and her lover Sophia. She went through life as a torn between reality and survival as the result of being abused by her mothers husband. She grew to hate him which led to his final breath. In exchange she served a short time in the Juvenile detention center which changed her life forever. A change for the better and change for the worse. She fell deeply in love with her teacher who was just as beautiful as she. Trina had no clue that being in a lesbian relationship would cause her to commit so many crimes. Crimes that crowned her the most nortorious drug lord of her time. Hustling small numbers of drugs directed her in a path to gain everything she disired. As well enemies.
Her competition hated her. They wanted her dead. She had no choice but to be the way she was. That was a lifestyle with only one way out. Katrina was in too deep to turn back. Her love for life was driving in a weird triagle with Sophia and her suga daddy Creepy. All the drama Trina encountered in her life had been bottled up and slowly but surely exploded. She made decisions strictly on her emotions.
The passion she had for making it to the top was a result of neglect. She reversed it into the ultimate love she had for her daughter. She had everything under the sun and drove every car that was made, but she knew nothing mattered more to her than the welfare of her child. Whom was the product of molestation. Survival was taking a huge toll on Trina she had to pick between death and a new life. Starting over was her last option but would she sacrifice everything she gain for something so hopeful?
What did you like best about this book? Constant drama. Never a dull moment
What did you dislike about this book? Other than the book ending, nothing.
How could the author improve this book? Not much. The book was well written it grabs your attention at the first line. Very good read.
Trina resides in the projects with her mother, Lucinda, and her boyfriend, Maynard. Trina's life changes drastically - she is horribly molested by Maynard, becomes a young mother, and also develops sexual attraction for women.
Trina then begins to turn to the streets for money yet gains attention; she became a hardcore female that has more guts than most men and made plenty money to prove it. She does whatever to get what she wants; whether it's money, drugs, or women. Trina also often has run-ends with the law, but it has never affected business because money rules and everyone loves money - including crooked cops.
At the age of twenty-two, Trina is well-known as the infamous "Southeast Trina" - the girl pulls more money than the president. Trina is unknown to relatives but known on the streets.
"How Do You Want It" by Darrell King is an exciting and riveting novel about a young female, Trina, that refuses to settle for less. This novel contained a lot of drama for any reader but yet it all seemed to be fiction. However, I did not enjoy the ending because I expected more to occur. I think I was too caught up in the story. I will look for more of Darrell's novels in the future.
I can only rate this book 5 stars here but I am giving it a 10. Omg it was off the chain. You need to read if you haven't already. My girl Katrina Ricks a.k.a Trina was a force to be reckoned with. Her first murder was in her teens and it was her stepfather who raped her over and over. Had 2 abortions but concealed the third pregnancy. Wanted someone to love her (a baby). She decided to get into the life to rise above poverty. She was devoted to her hood and people. Her sister was in law enforcement. I'm going to stop here. I've told you more than enough. Read it! Read it! You will be shocked at the end.
