This collection of essays represents some of the best work of two significant, contemporary voices in the field of interpretation, including original pieces written for this publication and reprints of articles that have appeared in National Association for Interpretation publications spanning three decades. Whether you are new to the field or an experienced interpreter, you will be inspired by Larry Beck and Ted Cable’s unique ability to find interpretive lessons in tangential fields, beauty in the everyday, and hope in the future.
Many of the essays were not what I was expecting based on their titles. It was all still good, just not what I was expecting. For example, I thought the essay on Voluntourism would be more about voluntourism, how it works, share examples of it both domestic and abroad. Instead it was more like "You should try it; it'll make you better." I appreciate that, I just wanted to learn about the actual topic, mostly to give me a starting point for researching mini-voluntourism events at my site.
But I did get some good quotes and thoughts to ponder, so it was worth the $8.
