The gifted author-photographer of One Hot Summer Day uses her photo-collage images to take her readers on a dream-like journey of discovery. The moon floats outside a young girl's window, shiny as a new quarter. And she imagines building a ladder to outer space, going up and up until she can hold it in her hands. Full-color photos.
1-2 sentences per page. Dark illustrations. Realistic images - photos of a girl and other real-life objects like quarters and ladders look like they're cut-copy-pasted onto the pages. Older book. A story about a girl wanting to catch the moon using a ladder and what she will do with the moon, and then shares that she will go home because her family misses her.

This book follows a girl who wants to go to the moon. I would keep this in my classroom to show kids that they can be whatever they want as long as they follow their dreams, but I would not use it as a read-aloud. I don't love the illustrations, but I like the idea of the story.
A picture book about a young girl dreaming up making her way in unconvential ways to the moon shown with real life pictures impossed over drawings. Preschool and up
I really don't think the collage style of illustrations works here. Certain pages remind me of my middle school science textbook in the early to mid 90s.
