Sassy Sistahood #2

If The Shoe Fits

Rate this book
In all my thirty-five years, I, shoe designer Rochelle Gardner, have never had so many men interested in me! My teen son's dad is back in my life after suffering from amnesia (yes, really ). The church deacon has had his eye on me for years (and never said a word). And the young waiter (from the restaurant I've visited for singles' events) is trying to steal my heart. I've been struggling with my faith, trying to figure out which man God has chosen for me and wondering if I have the courage to step forward, on my not-so-pretty feet, to accept love. It's almost too much for the Sassy Sistahood to handle, but my girlfriends always have my back!

Marilynn Griffith is the author of eight novels, mother to seven children, wife to a deacon and proof of God's enduring mercy. She has served as national Vice President of American Christian Fiction Writers and has served on faculty at several national writers conferences. When she's not writing about friendship, family and faith, Marilynn blogs and speaks to women and writers.

One of her novels, If the Shoe Fits, served as a prop in Tyler Perry's box office hit Why Did I Get Married? (The mistress has a book in her hand at the beginning of the scene where Jill Scott is forced off the plane. One blink and you'll miss it, but we're hyped about it anyway!)

She most recently took part in the Soul Expressions Book Tour with Angela Benson, Victoria Christopher Murray, Kimberla Lawson Roby and 11 other authors throughout Indiana and Illinois.

Though she lives in Florida now, Marilynn's muse often wanders the Midwest (especially her native Ohio) wearing a warm jacket and carrying a long stick, eavesdropping on the conversations of imaginary people.

I found this book to be a page turner! The characters and storylines were very believable. The main character’s life was the focal part of the book with all of the other players intertwined into her life and storyline. Here she is, a Christian mother and grandmother, ex-girlfriend, best friend, and love interest to many guys. Oh, and she makes shoes and owns a shoe store. So many funny stuff going on in this book! Made me chuckle a lot. The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars is because of the ending. It was a little weird but other than that, good book.

I enjoyed reading this book for the male characters as much as I enjoyed Rochelle's journey. She was a woman in transitions in different areas of her life. Relationships were changing, family was changing, the men in her life were changing and she was changing. I like how Marilynn Griffith had men who were strong in Christ helping other men become strong. Refreshing to see men building each other up especially in God. And OMG the ending was as romantic as I can think of as a Christian woman.

A sequal to the other one by the same author. I am now looking to borrow the third in this series.

This book was fun! I loved how the author kept me guessing just who the lead character would end up with. Can't wait to read more of hers.
